The emotion he puts into his performance is amazing! My heart broke for him as he wept in the angel and how he kept saying "I love you" in the final lair. His voice is also very moving. What a great Phantom. No wonder he had such a long run.
For me, Davis Gaines IS The Phantom of the Opera. In my opinion, all other actors who have played the role pale in comparison. I am so thankful to have seen him play the Phantom multiple times in Los Angeles. He will always be my Phantom. ❤️
I'll never forget seeing Davis Gaines as The Phantom live on Broadway. Hearing his voice for the first time was a revelation. He will always be my favorite Phantom. I love how is amazing vocal range gives such depth to his performance. I am hugely grateful to you for posting this great performance.
one tme during his time as Raoul on Broadway he came down with food poisoning towards the end of Act 1 before "All I Ask Of You" leaving Rebecca Luker to improvise the song. He came back the next night and Kathy Buffaloe who was playing Christine that night and heard about what happened the night before, wouldn't let go of him.
An extremely gifted artist and a wonderful human being! Bravissimi Davis Gaines!👏👏👏👏👏👏⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️⚘️ Thanks for sharing this video, more power to your channel. 🥳🤩
@@smitchell1002 Wrong, Minneapolis was the 2nd to last stop of this tour, and Gaines did play the Phantom there before the tour moved to LA and closed. He was the final Phantom on this tour and it was his last run in the part- after he played Broadway.
i really can’t explain it,, his voice is just so PHANTOM- like i hear it and i’m like oh my god that’s a ghost man
i love him
He is so unique as a Phantom. His voice is a style of its own, and dear god he’s got power!

Wow what a beautiful voice and natural acting style Lawrence Anderson has. He’d make for a wonderful Phantom. Davis is too camp for the role.

Good stuff,do u have title song

so was this te 2nd or 3rd National Tour (First National was playing in San Francisco at this point)
This was the closing engagement of the second national "Raoul" Company in Los Angeles at the Pantages.
Does anyone know if he would have been the phantom in Minneapolis the same year of would he only be touring in CA?
Kendra O'Connor Davis was only in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York. Many other Phantoms played around the country, but he was the best.

I will never understand how they do that thing with the chair.
He is still in the chair he pulls over a curtain and puts the mask there
i think the chair's back is like open with a curtainso he can go out from the back
