I know it’s a “horror story” because it has a ghost but in actuality it’s a really cute and sweet story that probably left the protagonist while sad, but full of confidence that he will carry for the rest of his life
This story turn a really sweet turn - it's not a scary story. It's sad. She's just a person, a girl who never got to live her life past childhood - she just wanted to have one of the last experiences of childhood that she never got to experience, and chose to enjoy it, and spend it with another person who really needed her. This story has an intense feeling of loss, a subtle feeling, on that's impossible to go back from. It's tragic, and happens to people. I really feel a lot for this story.
I remember my prom back in high school. It was for a girl who claimed to have leukemia (I think) and missed her senior prom because of her "treatment". Reason I say "claimed" and quoted treatment was because it turned out, she was a big fraud. How she ended up caught I don't know but we put so much into that prom like providing her a limo, her dress and crowning her prom queen.
Sheesh.. well, it was still kind of you to try to go all out for another person. I hope you enjoyed it as much as you deserved for the sweet gesture. Actions such as these only bring you mostly good things because it’s effort put forth for another.. and those mannerisms can only build up your own noble character.
I went to a Catholic High School. I sure turned some heads of the teachers and chaperones as I walked in with my 20 year old girlfriend. I was sixteen. A proud moment. Lol.
What year ? (Regular high school) did the same in Calif. back in 1986... except I was 17 and she was 21. The Guy's in the group I was with, were "stoked" because she was Hot & could buy booze. WelderX
4 proms I attended yet this one here left me with my heads in my hands in tears.. great little story Thank you all involved in writing and delivering this to us ❤
excellent story, well told! I expect it was inspired by the popular urban ghost story of the hitchhiker. It is always a young woman, who asks the driver of a car to take her home. Usually the driver finds out that the girl he drops off at her home, had been killed some time before, while coming home from somewhere. Ihe idea being that she had been trying to get home all this time, and this driver finally helped her to achieve her goal, and now she can rest.
A combination of the title and the father's recollection of his own prom has already told me what is likely to happen; yet, I still wanted to hear the story, and was enthralled by it. That I believe is the mark of a great story.
Well when you think about the bigger picture, he may now live his life never loving and emotional torture because he a fallen for someone he will legit *NEVER* get to touch, feel, see, even smell again...what makes it even worse to me is that he will live wondering "what if?"
A bitter-sweet story, and a memory that will last a lifetime. I am sad that the girl never made it, and I am sad that the boy didn't get to know/realize till later. Even still, this was a change of pace compared to other stories. It is nice, from time to time, to get to listen to stories that have a more slow and calming build towards what is true horror. Even still, I did enjoy the story, and even if it is a story I hope that Wendy is finally at peace.
I actually had a wonderful prom: a couple girls fought over me, I was there with the love of my life, I'd made it my first year sober since I was 11, the bank let me play their drums live for my whole school. Just wonderful
I never stayed in school long enough . I got kicked out during the middle of my junior year . I'm grown now and doing a lot better. that school was a jungle anyway so I wasn't the only one who got arrested and kicked out. it was a slow process. I didn't like girls anyways lol. and the guy I was friends with lost his life a couple years after I got kicked out. it's been an absolute trip . but it made me a better man now.
@@Biserbalkanski damn dude, I definitely get it.. right after prom a buddy of mine shot one of our best friends. It was wild here, it's why I was so proud to have finally gotten sober. It seems to me like you came out better for it though, I'm sorry you went through all that. I hope things really are better for you now
@@damiancrowley569 seems like the reason you stayed sober was to have a good memory of a bad time, hence the non sobriety. Seems like you found a reason to stay that way. Good for you! As evident, not everyone finds that. Hold on to that and cherish it! Even if it leaves, the meaning is still there! Help others find that! Many of us are rooting for you... in the American sense not Australian...
@@wxwxsrg I appreciate that man, I'm not the only one fighting that fight, seems like biser balkanski found the strength to be better too. I appreciate all of you, if there were more people showing that kind of positivity in the world, it'd be a much better place. Thank you both, for being supportive and understanding. This is the way the world should be, hopefully more people like us will pop up and help out become a better place
I listen to a good number of content creators within this genre. All of whom are very talented in their own rights. However, you are one of few that can do a tale such as this any true justice. You always breathe an impressive level of authenticity into the emotions of the characters you narrate. Bravo, sir. Bravo.
When a Gamer finally gets the girl, but she ends up being a ghost. Even when the Gamer wins, he still loses. At least Wendy finally got to go to her prom.
I wouldn't mind a follow up with David devoting himself to trying to reconnect with his lost love only to somehow slip back in time fall in love with her, befriend his own dad, and then be the reason she dies that night and realizing a time loop situation has occurred
Since I was prepared for spooks rather than feels, I completely believed his dad had murdered her in the same car somehow, which would have been how/why she appeared to the son in the first place 😅
I just learned about Resurrection Mary recently and came rushing back to find this story again! There were reports of her dancing with someone, and them even sharing a kiss before she disappeared on their way home. It's a very tender ghost story, I think, and one of my favorites that you've done. ❤️
Gotta have a heart of stone for that one not to get you… Reminds me a lot of the love story that happened in 11/22/63 by Stephen King… it’s too bad we couldn’t convince you to narrate that one, but I digress… Excellent story & narration, another new addition to my top 3!
Love this story and as always the narration! My prom was like 7 years ago and I still regret not getting a picture with my date and leaving her most of the night to party with the boys. I didn’t expect it to become a start to a relationship I just regret that I was less of a gentleman than I should’ve that night. Prom wasn’t really a big deal to me she was from the west and was currently living here in Asia, so there was clearly a culture difference. As I said I just wish I was more of a gentleman that night and actually stayed longer with my date.
I noted the happy note at the end. Realizing that for her one last night on Earth, she chose to cheer him up, to help him move past being mocked, and give him a night he'd never forget,
This is an old ghost tale in my country, I guess this is a different version. On ours, we don't have proms but a guy meets a girl in a party, they spend the night dancing, when he gets her to her house, he notices she left her jacket in the car. When the guy returns to the house and rings the bell, her parent opens it, recognizes the jacket, and tells the guy she died years ago and its not rhe first time this happens.
I never went to any proms since I wasn't really a popular kid but a nerd. I have no regrets since I did went to a very bad high school. As for this story and ending, it is very good and heart-felting. To know his date was a restless spirit that couldn't find peace after death and needing him to fulfill it by one prom night dance and they both enjoyed it. Something completely different from the stories you make/have. Rather than fear and dread, it is sad yet good at the same time.
I took my best friend to my prom. She was a year younger then me and I didn't want a date, so two friends hanging out wearing beautiful dresses. Great story!
Yeah.. first school dance I had asked a girl to go with me to. We show up. I go talk to a friend next thing I know I see her dancing with some other dude. I lost my temper. Spent the whole night feeling like a prick.. lol.
Honestly didn't care about my prom. I kind of regret going. Nothing bad happened and it was ok. I really didn't like a bunch of the people in my grade.
Interesting title. I do remember mine. My parents show up and then wanted me to leave with them before the dancing even began. That's as scary as it gets and something you CAN NEVER forget. I refused to leave. LOL Nice story!
We had a story like this in my home town. Her name was “Lydia” and she would be seen around this old bridge and get picked up- only to disappear when the car pulls up to the house… I still close my eyes whenever I drive under it at night…

This was so sweet. I never went to prom. I was one of those girls that traveled in large groups of one because I was "weird." Never dated. No one ever asked me out unless it was as a prank to see if I would fall for it or not, so my going would have just ended up being a miserable memory for me.

This was a really sweet story, not only was it a little creepy, it made me smile.

Her soul/spirit has been restless because she died before experiencing her prom. Now as her wish has come true, she can finally rest in peace

I went to 3 proms and David still got more action than I did 😂
He almost got soma dat ghost booty

I remember my prom back in high school. It was for a girl who claimed to have leukemia (I think) and missed her senior prom because of her "treatment". How she ended up caught I don't know but we put so much into that prom like providing her a limo, her dress and crowning her prom queen.
That's nuts but it happens often, those scammers should get time in prison.

Even though versions of this story have been told many times over I still find it so cute
I have read a number of variations of ghost and prom stories as it is a common theme; I enjoyed this story and the positive ending.
Not normally a fan of sweet stories, but this was perfectly balanced. Your voice and inflections are perfect for these stories.

I don't normally like ghost stories. They're often clichéd into stupidity. But this was actually thoughtful
This one gives me mix emotion, it's creepy and sad at the same time.

I knew this chick was dead, the only confusing this is why she gave him her number lol. I'm sure she knew she died because of her strange actions.
