- The second pull in the olympic weightlifting snatch is difficult to learn. Glenn Pendlay goes over the correct movement for the second pull and how it is taught at California Strength with a little trick that Glenn learned from Jon North working with athletes at California Strength.
First thing I saw: his sandals
But more importantly: Good tip for hip extension, well worth the watch
Another tool in the tool belt. Awesome
DM lifts- try putting plates in front of your feet. I was jumping forward really bad and my coach had me put plates in front of my feet and it worked.
thank you guys so much for the vid.
Thanks Glenn
I feel like I have long arms. In order to get my snatch grip to a spot where it is at the right spot on the hips, my grip is way wide and I lose the bar behind a lot because I have flexible shoulders and the super wide grip doesn't help. I recently tried changing it to a more narrow one but just did an arm bend before I threw the hips, and it worked. Is that acceptable?
Could I use this technique for the second pull of a clean as well? I've been trying to experiment with straight and bent arms and am currently very inconsistent during the second pull. Thanks in advanced!
I love her
THANKS , gUY.
sandals ftw
Hey Glen! Any tips on how to stop myself jumping forward when snatching. I have tried going back to the bar and working up again. but its when i hit 90-95% I jump forward.
It could be impatience in getting under the bar but I dont know?
If anyone can help, let me know. I have a few vids up but bad quality
i always see people wearing what appears to be knee sleeves, rolled around their ankle...what is that? Are those meant to be down there, as ankle sleeves? Or are they storing their knee sleeves down there? I don't get it, can someone please aware me
You don't want to wear knee sleeves all the time otherwise your knees will become dependent upon them; just like you wouldn't wear a belt all the time otherwise you core will become dependent upon it.
You only wear stuff like that under heavy load.
BarbecueSlop lol what? sleeves primarily just keep your knees warm--they add next to nothing in that way of assistance, like wraps do
Im gonna agree with USA Weaklifting on this. Becoming dependent on knee sleeves from wearing them the whole workout sounds like lore or bro science to me
Sam Gonzalez USA Weaklifting The comment I made is something I read in Greg Everett's book. When I get home I'll cite the page. I don't have the book on me now since I'm at work.
Sam Gonzalez USA Weaklifting "Neoprene knee sleeves are common pieces of gear among lifters. These sleeves are tight enough to provide joint support, but are not as tight as wraps. They keep the knees warm during training[...]They will also provide a degree of assistance in the bottom of the squat, but little enough that they remain legal in competition. *When joint warmth is not a concern, knee sleeves should be considered much like belts in that their use should be limited to heavier training.*" -- Olympic Weightlifting: A Complete Guide for Athletes and Coaches, 2nd Edition.
She is so pretty! :)
I'm 6'9 and I can't get the bar into my hip, hands are as far as the can go and I'm still high thy. Help?

It would be great if you didn't record a tutorial with weight slamming in the background. Sheesh...
It's almost like he's in a gym, smart attack.
