That’s amazing. I never properly acknowledged American being placed at the back and English at the front. Explains why it’s easier to get deeper and more resonant with the American accent as opposed to my native English accent!
I'm an American. The R sound he talks about is spot on for a general American accent, but if you're trying to do a general New England or eastern southern accent (Virginia, the Carolinas, Georgia) then you will utilize an short "a" or "ah" sound for an R. Geographical dialects here can get pretty diverse. We also have interesting combinations here, like Chicano English (English/Mexican Spanish) and Creole (mixture of French, different African and indigenous American languages).
It is challenging to change our accents, even after being born in an English-speaking country. You speak very well despite not having an American accent; however, your effort is motivating. Thank you so much.
To be genuinely honest with you! Your video accurately goes with what I’ve been searching for and I’m so excited to come across this video it’s useful and beneficial for me thanks alot.
Thanks for this video, it's really helpful and easy! Could you please do a "American Accent for Latin Languages Speakers", so one to help specifically people who speak languages such as Portuguese, Spanish, Italian, French. Or maybe one aimed at helping people who speak either portuguese or spanish as their first language :)
These are great! I'd love to see anything you have on regional variants of the American accent. And I'd be willing to help out. It was kind of interesting going through and thinking to myself "Hmm, this is definitely good for General American, but there's a lot of stuff here that doesn't apply to a New England accent."
Wow, the only thing I really learned from this video (because I AM an American, so I didn't need anything else) was doing accents with the throat and backing off using my mouth and jaw to do the accents. I can CLEARLY hear how much better I am at the hardest accents I've always had trouble with! Australian was one of them, but now I have a tool I didn't have before! I could only do Bogan before and now I'm starting to figure out how to sound like the more subtle Australian. I'm going to try to do Kiwi with this new revelation! Kiwi was so hard. (Edit) Oh and I have to give you accolades. Your American accent is fantastic! Sounds very genuine, which I should know... being American and all.

as an american with a rhotic accent, this sounds off. you have to be careful not to make the “r” sound too strong, unless you’ll sound phony. if you are familiar with the american palm-pot vowel distinction, I recommend using the “palm” vowel before the “r,” because americans (except midwesterners and those from the region near the great lakes) rarely use the “pot” vowel before the letter “r”

I'm 16 and I would like to get in the entertainment industry when I'm out of high school (not as an actress but I don't mind acting so yeah) and I have a bit of an accent, so thanks!!
Hi, i really enjoyed your video, I'm from Spain and although I lived in the US for many years I still have a "slight" 😜 accent and I've noticed that most Americans whom I listen to on tv have a particular timbre, it's not just the pronunciation of the words, which I can do easily, but the overall sound. I reached the conclusion that Americans talk inwards, as I would describe it, but you described it perfectly when you said that Europeans speak in the middle of the mouth and Americans do it in the back of the neck. I tried to do that but it sounds like my voice is coming from the back of my throat and it sounds very artificial. Could you please make a video showing the difference and how I could learn and practice talking from the "back of my neck" like Americans apparently do? Thank you so much and keep up the good work
i was like "hold on theres no way i just go back to sound american" then midway through thinking that i moved back and holy cow it made so much difference
I try to imitate a native speaker it sound like I'm faking and it not natural becuz my real voice is very thick and heavy .. I think people can easily recognize my fake voice ..is it ok to do it
Me being British trying to say “r” AHHHHHR AHHR ARRRR AHHH yeah don’t think it’s going too well 😃 and yes this is not my first time watching the video too 😂✌️ Why is it so bloody hard 🤣
We Americans sound more nasal, were Brits seem to be from the chest or mouth. Americans eat letters were Brits change or add letters. Like making an a sound into an r sound.
It's a comparative thing, the reason an accent forms its sounds the way it does is based on several things and the "resonant position" is one of the factors

So in American English, the r actually has an r sound. How crazy is that?
In America words like Canon and Glass would have a "AAE" sound, as oppose to British "Ae" and "Uh" sounds.
