Two great artists, fantastic personalities. Thanks to them for everything! A very valuable conversation. Thank you ROH!
Fantasztikusak, a legnagyobbak, a legjobbak.Boldog vagyok, hogy láthattam ezt a csodás beszélgetést. Fantasztikus a humoruk is.❤💯🙏👏👏👏
Wonderful couple, love them ♥
What an incandescent couple of high-powered opera royalty Pappano and Kaufmann are - beautiful to hear them talking about their musical passion and long collaboration. I can only imagine how devilishly witty their opera anecdotes must be in private, fly on the wall stuff (and the only reason I'd want to be a fly...!)
Wonderful! Many thanks for this conversation!
Well I loved it
Congratulations Maestro Jonas Kaufmann!! And the grand Antonio Pappano !!! ❤❤👏👏👏👏
Herr kaufmann seems very sensitised to the occasion. Perhaps aware that he faces some thing similar himself. And so feels deeply for this watershed for Pappano. Shared irony. And admiration and sadness. Herr Kaufmann is not aloof _ just using irony and humour to keep everyone balanced. And in honour of Pappano.
Thank you for the great conversation. ❤🎉❤
Jonas Kaufmann è e sarà sempre il migliore tenore dei nostri giorni ed oltre. I soliti sapientoni vadano a dormire. Una volta per tutte!!
Palestrina and Pique Dame? Well, I've been saying for years the Kaufmann should do Ghermann. Hope he hasn't left it too late..
I suspect that for Pappano it's been a question of "better the devil you know..." in terms of his loyalty towards Kaufmann as his favoured tenor despite Kaufmann's obvious vocal challenges - a consequence of age and illness. Kaufmann's body language and aloofness in this interview made me sad for Pappano whose generosity, humility, passion for and immersion in the arts came alive in every word he spoke. The end of an era at the ROH.
iKaufmanns politeness dedicated the stge to Pappano.......
I think your comment is insulting to both of these world-renowned, magnificent musicians. Antonio Pappano does not sign a singer up because it's better the devil you know nor does he practice nepotism. Jonas Kaufmann was humorous and friendly in the interview, did not push himself forward and showed great respect for Antonio Pappano.
Jonas Kaufmann is still an absolutely stunning performer despite the illnesses.
Why Kaufmann? Pappano used to work with the very best, whereas Kaufmann has been in poor voice since a few years already and cancelled mostly everything at the ROH for the past years. Pure hypocrisy
To Sir Pappano Kaufmann ist the best Tenor and he knows all about voices. Kaufmann catched COVID twice in London!
@iloveopera1951 I suspect that for Pappano it's been a question of "better the devil you know..." in terms of his choice of Kaufmann as his favourite tenor despite the vocal challenges that are obvious.
Kaufmann in whatever form he's in is more interesting and moving to watch and hear than anyone else. That's why.
