Don't apply direct pressure to an open fracture
You will probably push on the broken part which should stay stationary
Rather apply pressure above the wound on common points

Remember PMS before and then after applying splint (Pulse, Motor, Sensory assessment). Adjust splint if loss of. NREMT rqmt.
