BA is my favorite city in South America, maybe one of the few cities there that can begin to rival some in Europe. (Rio is second Carol, don't worry- but they're really very different).Next time you're back there you must go to the Palermo area, a little away from downtown, if you haven't been or not going on this trip. One of the coolest neighbourhoods I've been anywhere.

You're lucky, January is vacation time here in Argentina, so the city is a lot less crowded than usual, because everyone's on vacation somewhere. You also managed to avoid the huge, devastating heat wave the that hit the city recently, and since it was an overcast day, there were even fewer people. Usually all the areas you showed would be packed with people.

I knew Argentina had a large Italian population and knew that majority of their Presidents had Italian ancestry. Anyway, I just discovered that about 63% of the total population have some degree of Italian blood. You'll notice a lot of Italian food restaurants there. Also, I heard that Argentina is known for their beef and also leather.

For those wanting to use public transport in Buenos Aires: you need to get the SUBE card, which you can buy at subway stations and some kioscos (which are like small convenience stores for snacks or beverages mainly and some other things), maybe at train stations too but I'm not 100% sure on that. You then put money in the card at the same place you bought it and then you can go anywhere. For most touristy places you can get around by subway or train and walking, dependind on where you're staying of course, and different bus lines run through all the city and the surrounding areas too.

BA is like the Paris of South America. Good food, wine and cafés.
There are so many nice areas in BA to explore, good museums as well as parks with entertainment in the weekends. The neighborhood of Palermo, Puerto Madero, Feria de San Telmo, drinking some Fernet con Coca (CocaCola with Fernet Branca) and not to forget the ease of jumping across Rio de la Plata to Montevideo wich is a super relaxed place.
BTW the hop-on-hop-off buses are a great way to get around if you get a day pass, also I recommend taking a biking tour of the city wich is a great way to sample diffrent neighborhoods.

The colorful part of town you were in at the end is called "La Boca". Caminitos is the main "street" of it. It's got a history as a more bohemian area with tango and art and it's become the touristy part of town.
The city center is going to dead on the weekends because it attracts people from surrounding areas for work. Otherwise, nobody much has a reason to go there. Santiago, Chile is exactly the same way.

Great video! Greetings from Rosario - Arg!
Pd: The houses are very colorful, because they belonged to immigrants and port workers in the 30s or before... and since they didn't have much money to paint their houses, they used the leftover paint from the boats... and many sometimes there was not enough to paint everything, so they used the colors that were available, and that is how they ended up being multicolored

The first place where the Argentine flag waved was in the city of Rosario, where the national monument to the flag was created and resides. The Obelisk was a gift from the French in the 1920s or 1930s if I remember correctly. Buenos Aires it´s called the Paris of South America by the architecture

@@flacosolazzi6250 of course it can - I was only commenting that La Boca is the one place in Buenos Aires that tourists are warned about - I was not making a general comment about Argentina - we felt very safe there everywhere we went and the locals very friendly.

A suggestion for your videos: I would also be interested in the nightlife in cities. I missed that especially in Rio (Leblon, Lapa). What does the bar and club scene in the cities look like at night. Bon voyage in Argentina!

    Have a nice trip.

We spend 3 weeks in Buenos Aires. Quite interesting. We don’t speak Spanish so the street money changers we did not trust because we might get counterfeit money.
So we paid the official tourist price.
We did enjoy BA. But we found already then a lot of stores where totally shut. Before the pandemic.
We been to all these places and more.
    Good luck in your travels.

Your video brought back memories of my 2 visits to BA.
On my first visit I flew from Lima to BA and as you commented, I felt that I had returned to Europe. Chile has a similar atmosphere.
    Enjoy Patagonia it is excellent.
I did not know about the dollar blue and found BA expensive as a result.

If the food si not salty enough, you can ask the waiter to bring you a salt shaker. Some restaurants don't add salt to the food in case the customers can't eat spicy food. Welcome to Argentina 🇦🇷🇦🇷

Visited Buenos Aires back in 2012. Tem years already. Times fly. My dad visits it i think once every 3 years (well, before the pandemic). He drives there. It's some 1000km but he lives driving.
It's closer to Porto Alegre than São Paulo. He drives to Montevideo and from there takes the shop to Buenos Aires.

The plug is the I style. We have it here in Australia/NZ and it's the style in the Pacific...PS it's funny seeing Chris in city clothes. Look forward to Patagonia. If you have time check out Esteros del Ibera. It's an overlooked nature reserve full of wildlife that's not too far from Missiones and Iguazu.
