I had a similar problem at the beginning of this semester. So happy I reduced hours at work because now I can actually enjoy learning in my RT program. Do what you need to do girl, you're doing great!
In the long run you’ll be so happy to have achieved another educational goal! And hehe aww I was watching like we talked about this and then you mentioned me ☺️
I was pregnant so I wasn't given a choice not to complete two years in one and have two per diem jobs. However, when Lucas was in and out of PICU for the first two years I tried to maintain My fulltime and per diem. I dropped my Per diem with the children facility and then had to end with an amazing supportive hospital. I was devistated! I had the water works, but there comes a time when something has to give. I pushed my body past what is humanly possible with lack of sleep and quick food. Stress from family illness and worry. I made sure it didn't affect work, but my physical health paid the price. That even though I threw in the towel a year and a half ago, I crashed almost a year after and still in recovery. I know and can sympathize with you when you have to give up something that brings you joy, knowledge and experience. Plus if it is an amazing supportive environment... well my friend it sucks! But, we have to hope and know our life path with be rewarded with a new great experience. Until then keep plodding through your studies and be a sponge so you can conquer your next endeavor. Hugs!
I totally understand this.... As of right next week I am taking 19 credits while working as an RT and preparing for PA school. Yes, 19 credits..... There are some days that I get 3-5 hours of sleep. However, I do have all As! 😁
Hope things work well for you, I can say as a personal advice organize your time, do your best, if you get it, wonderful, if you don’t then it’s no the end of the world, there are other ways in the nursing profession where you can continue help and make decent money; became an entrepreneurship like creating a Nursing Staffing Agency, it’s not hard, you can make more than a regular nurse and help other nurses to work for other healthcare facilities. Just get a class in a Community College or University, that will help you to get it done in just 3 or 5 months, hope might help you, best!
This is so me! I put my work before school. Now I’m not working and I’m just going to school. I miss the money but education is more important and I don’t wanna be a teacher working with kid anymore. Ill start my program in August. Did you work while in RT school?
I totally get that! Sometimes we just have to reevaluate our priorities. I worked the first semester or so and then my work couldn't give me a schedule that worked with classes / clinical so I had to leave
I've been there having to make similar choices. Sometimes you just have to prioritize even though it's not a perfect option. How long is your bachelor's going to take to complete? Were there any prerequisites that you didn't have before starting your bachelor's program?
It'd be great if you still kept up with this video so I could get a response. But I'll leave it open for anyone who's anyone that wants to help me: Are jobs harder to find as an RRT in comparison to RN? Which will give you more options when looking for work?
Hey there, do you know of RT’s that have there bachelors in let’s say Health science or Biology. My question is do you feel it makes a difference? Can you tell the difference between those who are RT’s that have a bachelor in another area verses those that have the bachelors in Respiratory Therapy? Thank you so much for your video, I always look forward to hearing what you have to say. Btw, I feel you have made a great decision, it’s only a temporary sacrifice that will be well worth it in the end.
Thank you, Jay! I only know one RT that has a bachelors in another area, but it doesn't seem to make a huge difference. I think it really depends on the person in general.
Yes, I am working on my BSRT. After a few more years of experience, I'm planning on going into education or perhaps the APRT degree if it is available in my area or somewhere near.
Sometimes you have to make sacrifices to better yourself! You’re going to continue to be amazing
Thanks love!
Great video! Thanks for sharing! 💚💙
Thank you!
Correct choice and wish your work so good in the future
Thank you!

Thank you! I'm happy you were able to get things figured out also!
Of course! You were one of the people who influenced me to go into RT. We should all support each other!
In the long run you’ll be so happy to have achieved another educational goal! And hehe aww I was watching like we talked about this and then you mentioned me ☺️
Thanks, Garry! Your a good listener! 🤗

The BSRT is about a year and a half. All of my prerequisites were done with my RT degree thankfully
What program are you doing for your bachelor's?
SJVC

Hey, how long did it take to complete all of your pre-reqs to get into the resp. Program?
My prerequisites were built into the RT program. But I hear it's takes some people 1.5 to 2 years depending on how many classes they take per semester

Hi, just curious. Are you trying to get a BSRT? and what are your plans/goals after obtaining your bachelors? thanks
Yes, I am working on my BSRT. After a few more years of experience, I'm planning on going into education or perhaps the APRT degree if it is available in my area or somewhere near.
