I love the text sound for this version of Animal Crossing so much, because you can basically UNDERSTAND them. Most of the time, you can literally hear them saying the words they're saying in text - - - that's because they're basically saying it. It isn't just gibberish - - - their text sound is them saying every letter individually, so sometimes it's pretty intelligible. I think it's somewhat the same for the newer games, but it's never quite as clear. In New Horizons , you can kinda hear it sometimes, but not very often.
Definitely, but I think confirmation bias has a bit to do with it too. Even though they're saying the letters, it still sounds like a foreign language without the text alongside it.
I swear to God this traumatized me so bad as a kid that I stopped playing entirely. It was my brother and I's town and my little head started spinning the second the screen went black what they were going to think. I can finally show my friend now what I saw. A true blessing. I became a hardcore fan of the franchise literally a few years later with Wild World so all that the bastard did was give my brothers more game time.

In wild world I remember opening a wishing star letter to get a throne, catching two hours worth of fish, leaving my ds on to go to dinner and then returning to find it dead. When Resetti started screaming at me I burst into tears haha. (Also the throne changed to something worthless)

Don't reset the game while resetti is talking to you. I did it once and when i came back to see his reaction, my emulator crashed, and i found out the configuration settings corrupted!
