I'm so glad I decided to back this Kickstarter project and 100% went with the deluxe edition. This was an awesome review and a good showcase of the rules, mechanics, and gameplay.
@@OneStopCoopShop total success. They hit all stretch goals and went over 70k. I'm super excited and can't wait to hear what's next and for one of the creator comments it sounds like there may be some extra add ons to be reviled once the pledge manger hits. Either way I'm happy and can't wait.
The game looks fun, but how different are the bosses? It looks like most of the decisions are made based on abilities and character combinations? Boss differences are their small deck of boss cards, physical or magic attacks, and 1 or 2 rules on their boss card? Are bosses mostly used as a thematic way to set difficulty? And less used for variety?
They get pretty varied, especially the 5 harder ones. The flying one switches back and forth between sides. The final boss uses other bosses as his basic attack cards. It’s not completely game-changing, but they definitely feel different to play against
I love JRPGs and this looks like it has been translated amazingly on the tabletop. I have pledged so far, but hoping the shipping for Aus can really come down. Thanks for the playthrough Mike! :)
@@OneStopCoopShop Just noticed in last update that they have improved their shipping estimates and hopefully are legitimate new costings. If so, excited!!!
Definitely this one, for me, though I also enjoy Set a Watch. Set a Watch's character abilities can feel pretty static to me, since generally each class has a few abilities that are obviously better than the rest. Having ever-changing character builds and ability combos here is much more exciting for me.
@@Killrekob yeah, Set a Watch is definitely more a "resources dwindling, things get more desperate" kind of a game, which is also fine of course, but I love these games that let you get awesomer as you play :)
Hmmm... they both have their charms, and both fill similar niches. This one is more abstracted (less board movement), but has more interesting card play. I'd say they are fairly even for me.
It didn't bother me because it calls back to my favorite pixel art JRPGs. Chrono Trigger and the rest all had cool character art in the pause screen, but pixels everywhere else, lol
looks really a game that will it my table often... checking the campaign thanks man!!! ok I check it... quite expensive for EU backers sob it will be like 210$ with VAT... ouch nice music!!!
@@OneStopCoopShop I find that mostly shipping prices to AU aren't much more than US/EU normally, but some smaller companies have these high prices - i suppose they aren't expecting to send large quantities down this way (?)
@@aholgerlooks like that this one only focuses on US, as EU prices are almost as bad as AU (even worse after adding VAT), so as I wanted to get this, as I love jRPGs, I will probably pass and maybe get in retail.

That's some rocking intro music Mike!
Thanks!
@@OneStopCoopShop What's the song?
Oh no idea at this point. We pay for a database but don’t track the individual song titles used
This looks really neat mechanically.
It’s a lot of fun!

I hope the international shipping gets lower in general, so more people can enjoy this one :)

@@agentsolorunthroughs6010 I saw that too! Very cool :)
You end up going with the deluxe edition or the regular one?
Not sure if you are asking me or agent solo, but I am only getting the retail set
I can see some similarities between this and set a watch, which will be able to late pledge soon. Which one resonates more with you and why?

Would you take this over something like townsfolk tussle?

The art for the game seems like two different art styles. The boss cards look like pixel art but the character cards don't look like pixel art.

@@OneStopCoopShop Ah that's true. But i wished they stayed consistent with just pixel art as i love good pixel art.

Is that for the deluxe or the basic pledge? Because basic is all you need!
@@OneStopCoopShop true but KS usually worth for deluxe... otherwise wait a possible retail version
The Kickstarter has ended but there should be a late pledge and I believe the shipping came down.
Alas, shipping to Australia doubles the price of the game, but it looks like a nice game.
Ah, that's a bummer, though kinda par for the course these days :(

Yep my thoughts!

Game seems fun, but their shipping policy makes me pass on this one, as EU will be like 130-140$ total for just base game
Pretty sure the prices for shipping came down.
I like how the deluxe edition is 150% more expensive and over your under 100 dollar guess 😂
It’s definitely not the one I am buying. Base pledge all the way 😅
@@OneStopCoopShop deluxe edition for me.
