fascinating to see Johnny Marr play with this band when he already made all those records with the smiths before MM ever put anything to tape and released it. Johnny still looks so young and still down to jam and perform for over 30 years
Fifteen years later and finally finding video of this! He stopped and kicked out a dude in a river riot shirt that stuck his hand up by dress. Front row for this was just peak life experience. Especially after they came out and played on trash cans in the rain.
We were crazy for staying, but had nowhere to go that was close enough. That is why Ticketmaster is a ridiculous company. We literally risked our lives to see this show, and no mention of "rain or shine" on the ticket. But no word of cancellation, no money back. I am very surprised they even played at all. Hats off to the band for even having the balls to risk playing in the electric storm. Crazy as we were.
ive seen alot of modest videos on here and, yah know there all good. ive been in to modest for years but started widening my music collection over time. before that it was just modest. this video here is a good example of theer power. when isaac stops playing beforee the "speak the lingua" part, and then explodes with sound. they have been playin live shows for over 12 years now,the same songs and they still hold the same energy and emotion, proving that they are the greatest band of this time.
same damn thing happened about a week later....Jones Beach Theater got struck by lightning 25 minutes into their set and cancelled MM. My friend and I payed $160 bucks each for 4th row :-(
BTW, the bit at the beginning is some rowdy bastard up front that got ousted somehow. Security was the only ones there. No ticket tackers at the gate, no concessions, beer, anything else.
Don't get me wrong, I love the fact that I was able to get this close up for the video. It was a unique opportunity. I was just upset that I only got to see 45 minutes worth. Maybe if it was 2 hours it wouldn't have been as good, and most likely the vantage point I had would have been worse, but I guess the grass is always greener... I think it was just because the weather was absolute crap and we were outdoors during a hailstorm and multiple tornados were spotted less than 20 miles away.
Yeah, so the fight that interrupted the song took place right in front of me. The reason you don't see Isaac there is because he jumped into the crowd to break it up. I look away, then next thing you know Ike is standing in front of me. He wasn't in the mood to chat so I didn't say hi.
It's interesting that 10 years before this, they played this song with just 3 people.
10 years later this is still one of my favorite shows I've been to and your bitching about getting money back lol
