Song makes me wanna be a trucker, with Isaac, Jeremiah, and Eric. Rolling round the lonesome crowded west, up and down Interstate 8 sure as hell wouldn't be a long drive with someone with nothing to think about.
Great video. One of the best for audio and video I've found on youtube. I understand that the audio is dubbed, but still. Totally worth it and synched very well.
Ummm... I've listened to all of their albums more times than I care to count and I absolutely LOVE 'We Were Dead' Not too complex at all - just remember, their old albums aren't going anywhere - you'll always have them to listen to. Just enjoy listening to them evolve.
I swear there is some sort of addiction in modest mouse. I heard them, then had to hear everything else they have ever done. Even sad sappy sucker ahahaha
Nooo, bad recording (as with many old video cameras) so they don't pick up the low frequencies, which is why the drums sound so thin, and you only get the high from isaac's guitar (although, there's not heaps of guitar low in TA)
Building, Drive, LCW M&A, Good News, Ship, would have to be my order. I thought sss was awesome but only because i am a fan of their work. you honestly cant say that its their best though. Night on the sun and Red hand case are my favorite songs.
It does bother me too about "not" playing old songs. But you really have to understand I play in a band and we too have old songs that we don't enjoy playing anymore. And we always find playing our new songs exciting to play. Its just a different perspective between the fans and the band on what sounds better to them.
Jeremiah Green is a fuckin beast, he was rated #37 out of the top 50 drummers of all time on some rock magazine, Spin or Blender or something like that, I'd have to look it up later. Should've been a lot higher in my opinion but whatever. Whoever told you he sucked, applepie, is probably the biggest shithead to walk this planet.
I would tend towards Lonesome Crowded West because I think as an album, it's more complete and cohesive than Moon and Antarctica... It has the same sort of desolate, existential, world-turned-to-shit feel throughout, wrung out more than their previous stuff.
@chugalow No, I sing along to...just takes a little practice to get it down, as with any song thats not as complex. And yeah I agree with you. The only thing that keeps me from playing it too its full potential is no having other instruments or guitars to play along with. On the other hand, writing them clearly shows the intense creativity that is Isaac Brock. Rather then listening to the record and playing it....
@Oriente7 That's because you're just playing guitar. Try singing and playing at the same time. Even that isn't his genius. His songs aren't meant to be amazing in technique or innovation. He paints starkly original tunes and lyrics with a basic set of skills that never loses focus on the product for the sake of complexity. Even when they added Johnny Marr, his lines merely reinforced the melody of the lyrics and Isaac's lead. Except for Dashboard. He owned that, a little.
@equallyeasilyfuqyou He writes some cool stuff. Just cause it's a bit sloppy and simple doesn't mean it's shitty. It's a bit off the beaten path and he's got a pretty good ear for tone in my opinion. Most of it is pretty easy to play though.
@jBrrou...I'm with ya, but LCW isn't their debut..."It's a Long Drive..`` is one of the best debuts ever...and then abunch of eepees...they`d been around for years
Miss Judy so much, unparalleled personality/heart in those lines/fills. Just fit so well
HAHAHA I was there! Rckndy! Seattle. I am in the front row geeking out with my SLR!!!! I'm right below Isaac! THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS!
You’re my goddamn hero dude. For ten years I’ve wondered who the person up front wilding and vibin was
I thought that was you!

Thanks for posting. I couldn't even tell that this wasn't the original audio for this clip, nicely done.
fuckin time capsule quality. I'm so glad that this sort of stuff is floating around.
What I love most about this show is that Isaac is wearing a hat and Eric is not.
Ummm... I've listened to all of their albums more times than I care to count and I absolutely LOVE 'We Were Dead' Not too complex at all - just remember, their old albums aren't going anywhere - you'll always have them to listen to. Just enjoy listening to them evolve.
The best video to exist on the entire internet since the beginning of time or ever again
This song got me through many road trips drugs not required...Isaac did enough for me-wish he would do more!
excellent video.. great to be able to see jeremiah doing his thing on one of their (or his, at the very least) best songs.
Rip to the legend
I had no idea that Modest Mouse was this good, Oh man so bueno. So different and so much more emotional and raw then their new stuff.

A must have song for any road trip!

Lonesome Crowded West. Most fans say it's there favorite album and for good reason too. Definitely one of their all time bests.
ah, the pre-skinny jeans era. love it.
I totaled my SRT-8 Neon while this song was blasting on my stereo,it is still my favorite song.
ha! amazing. I was in college when this was going on. Glad to see that there are still some young people who don't all listen to garbage.
what an insane beat
Can someone post a drum tab for this song's basic part (intro)? Even after seeing Jeremiah Green play it, I can't figure it out.
I absolutely love Issac in a truckers hat with big chops.
i like how at the end he's just tuning his guitar. what a badass
classic case of less is more...i miss this mm
Do you have any of the 1998 shows with 764 Hero? Been looking for the live versions of Whenever You See Fit forever now
I love the stick spin Jeremiah does on breaks...
the bass is so quiet in the mix
Nooo, bad recording (as with many old video cameras) so they don't pick up the low frequencies, which is why the drums sound so thin, and you only get the high from isaac's guitar (although, there's not heaps of guitar low in TA)
Liam Doughty I've heard much worse. This aint bad at all.
my favourite song by them
This is why modest mouse is great.
Anybody tell move what effects r pedal he might be using? This is great
"I do lines and I crossed roads" fucking awesome.
Building, Drive, LCW M&A, Good News, Ship, would have to be my order. I thought sss was awesome but only because i am a fan of their work. you honestly cant say that its their best though. Night on the sun and Red hand case are my favorite songs.

Issaquah Rush! Power trio
I wish I was older so I could have seen this show, too bad I was 6 haha
Lonesome crowded and the moon are my Favs but I dont mind the new stuff like some
Jeremiah Green is a fuckin beast, he was rated #37 out of the top 50 drummers of all time on some rock magazine, Spin or Blender or something like that, I'd have to look it up later. I would tend towards Lonesome Crowded West because I think as an album, it's more complete and cohesive than Moon and Antarctica... It has the same sort of desolate, existential, world-turned-to-shit feel throughout, wrung out more than their previous stuff.
so good.
I fucking love Jeremiah Green's style. Isaac brock is just a genius.

Wasn't feeling this version. Trucker's Atlas at the Pontiac Grill is way better. Thanks for sharing regardless, still enjoyed it.

@lawrence096 lol. even when he isnt wearing it it remains the same vicinity.
isaac brock is one of the greatest lyracists ever, if not the greatest
they're a lot like Primus in this performance.
@ross7070 really? I can play them all(Most of them) lol especially this ones my favorite
All are great albums. For me, Sad Sappy Sucker is their best. It's purely a matter of opinion. =)
@Oriente7 That's because you're just playing guitar. Try singing and playing at the same time.

i saw this show!
yeah? except this was in 98 when you were watching barney
@cKunke2 and a genius at writing lyrics...
@Iglio11 And one of the coolest people ever.
Their older show's had a much were a lot rougher and ballsier. Their latest tour was great, but held nothing to shows I saw back in the day
@equallyeasilyfuqyou He writes some cool stuff. Just cause it's a bit sloppy and simple doesn't mean it's shitty. It's a bit off the beaten path and he's got a pretty good ear for tone in my opinion. Most of it is pretty easy to play though.
haha i love how at 7:25 he stops to tune
@jBrrou...I'm with ya, but LCW isn't their debut..."It's a Long Drive..`` is one of the best debuts ever...and then abunch of eepees...they`d been around for years
I do lines and I cross roads
I've crossed the lines of all the great state roads

lonesome crowded west is far superior to This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About and just a little better than Moon & Antarctica
And don't call us shit stains.
puta madre modest mouse es laneta all righ

This sucks pretty bad.
