- You have it pretty good, sitting at your computer in your comfortable chair, air condition on, good food in the kitchen, clean clothes to wear every day, but life for a teenager in the middle ages was anything but comfortable. In today's video we're going to compare your life to a teen in the middle ages and prove to you that you wouldn't survive a weekend back then.

I am just grateful that I was born in a world that has the luxuries that we currently have. It must've been torture back then.
It is still for some countries
You are everywhere.
Bro get off youtube !
And imagine what people in the future will think of this time and here we are thinking we've figured it out
One of my favorite luxuries is toilet paper and the toilet its self. Towns were nasty back then

Their was no “teenager” in those times. They were adults.
watch the video and you'll realize that they already explained that at 2:20
nah even back then they were considered young
Nowadays, there are no adults. Just overgrown babies who don't know how to work with their hands.
Stunner 900 “their” they still had grammar back then
they were the age of teenagers, but were perceived as adults, so it would be how being a teenager was back then.
How boomers describe how they grew up

@@Dont-Watch-My-Vids-U-Regret-it . It disturbs me how resentful some younger people are. Let me repeat this video is not describing what happened when I was a lad, but what happened centuries before I was born. I am willing to agree that in some respects things were better when I was a lad than they are now. For example, when I went to University my tuition fees were paid by the government and I was also given a grant for living expences. Today students are forced to pay for tuition fees are loaned money rather than granted money. Also as divorce was less common when I was a lad, children were generally bought up in more stable homes. This video is talking about conditions during the Middle Ages, centuries before I was born and I think you might agree, that even though conditions are worse now than I was a lad, they are considerably better than they were during the Middle Ages.
So if you die as a child in medieval times you are Lucky!

I'd agree with you. That's why I'll do this:

Wow life sure was mighty hard back then. I'm so glad my ancestors survived. Thanks and Happy Holidays 👍🎄

Growing up in the 90’s-we didn’t have the option to report bullies. It was definitely a toughen attitude from my administration.
I had a gun pulled on me by a bully and was told to fight him. 1996 was no joke.
Nothing has changed!
Schools don`t f*cking care about daily bullied students even in 2021
Same in the 2010s, at-least not in practice. While sure it was theoretically possible to tell a counselor or school administrator, nothing is gonna be done about it. And if the bullies finds out that you 'snitched', well have fun living on the run for the rest of your life

"it could be argued that being a horrible person is a better way of earning a high quality of life" ----> nothing has changed since the middle ages.
Guess I'm too nice.
Well a lot of things changed like the fact less than 1/10 women die in childbirth now. We have hot and running water. We can go to a shop and buy everything we need to survive and it only cost us about 3 hours of working a job that in terms of the Middle Ages is easy.
@@cowboy4378 . In terms of any previous times it is easy. Back in the 1800's and up to the early 1930's, there was no worker's rights. That's why so many people, including small children, died in factories or building tall buildings in construction.
The creation of worker's rights was done when many lost various family members at a factory due to radiation poisoning. None of the bosses told them about the dangers of it and they allowed the workers to handle it without safety equipment. Many even put it all over them and in their mouths to glow in the dark as they saw it as harmless. The company was sued and the family members won the court case.
Even dangerous jobs today require in depth training, an experienced boss on site, proper safety equipment, etc. Even if you are in the field of construction and you have to build something many feet off the ground, you have a safety line and proper equipment. Back in the day you were told to stop being a crybaby and climb up there and watch your balance and to not look down. Hence why accidents happened.
@@Deadsea_1993 my grandfather told me about the working conditions in the 1950s. It was so different to today, i didnt believe him at first. He used to eat his lunch on a box of dynamite and he used to climb over boulders with dynamite, he would light the fuse then run back behind an excavator bucket
Moral of this video: Don't complain so much.

This video makes me very thankful for all of things I got. I may be financially poor but things could still be much worse-- I could’ve lived in the middle ages. 😂😂😂
Pretty much modern day middle-east
We take so many things for granted... Being able to read & write, trash collection, modern toilets & sanitation, clean water (still an issue for a billion people even today), antibiotics, vaccines, toothbrushes, anesthesia, instant communication around the world, flight, electricity, recording devices, radio & broadcast TV, etc. If people in previous eras saw the things we do regularly, they'd think it was magic.

Today you get a degree by age 23 if you do it right, but companies still ask for that 5 years of experience.

Dear Teenager,
If your mother just yells at you often or the internet connection broke, then you may consider lucky. In the Middle Ages you would probably fight on a war or be sold to another owner. What was worse, you would be most likely deprived of any education. If you were a girl, you would not have nay rights either. So be grateful for everything you have.

2:29 - it's a common misconception that people in the past eras didn't have the capacity to live long lives. They absolutely did, they just had worse healthcare and were more prone to get ill more often and more severly, or fall victims of wars, famine etc. The average age of 30-something didn't mean everyone would kick the bucket at that age, it just meant that for every person of approx. 70-80 years old there were significantly more infants and children that would die prematurely.

DO NOT GO TO A 4-YEAR COLLEGE! GO TO A TRADE SCHOOL! You'll become educated, AND be in your career, buying a home/car/boat/WHATEVER by the time you'd be out of your 4-year college and and working. You'll make the same amount of money if not more in most cases over the course of 20-30 years as well. I'm 37, and I plan on going back for HVAC before I'm 40. I've seen people older than me accomplish that and go from almost poverty to mid class and in some cases, upper class by owning businesses.
