Tent camping isn't anything new in the US, haha. My family road tripped and camped all over the country in the early 90s. Even then all the National Parks were totally full families camping in tents. Can't wait to see your US content, Shaun!
I lived in flagstaff for 2 years with a cj-7. You could go anywhere off road. Spent my days rock crawling in Sedona when I was supposed to be attending class. Be advised, don't drink with wisconsinites, they will even put the hardest aussies on there heels.
Australia has a lot more open country compared to the states. While we have some there's a lot of rules so the camping thing has never really taken off. Another thing is the "extreme" off-road of purpose built trucks hasnt been hit as hard by regulations like Australia has so we can run modified suspension that y'all can't.
Overlanding has been around for decades in the US, it's a pretty traditional outdoorsman-gearhead thing, it's just been pretty niche. The big mainstream popularity of overlanding is its own thing and isn't representative of traditional overlanding that's been around. Check out some '90s & '00s off-road magazines and you'll see some off-road travel stories with lots of tent camping. David Freiburger was doing 'DED'(dirt every day) trips for years and writing about it.
Your so ahead in overlanding wish you guys shipped to the USA !!! We are ahead in suspension and lifts ! But your diesels are the way to go ! Going to swap my grand Cherokee cause you boys 😂🔥
Also we have some stupid trends and loads of mall crawlers. You see trucks with absurd lifts and tires for no reason. Ive had loads of different trucks and broncos in different states and probably the most capable was no lift on 33in tires and bare bones.
A lot of that area has "BLM" land that is just open for whatever. If you get out to the east coast its very different. There are companies that sell maps of trails and "jeep trails". The name is failing me but basically on the east coast we have a lot of fire roads and jeeps trails that require a street legal vehicle.

I'm blessed to live in Michigan. We have great off road trails, fishing, snowmobile, it truly is a outdoor wonderland

ARB has had a cult following in the states for at least a decade for the bumpers, lights, tents and fridges.
WELL over a decade, they were a big shit sponsor in rock crawling 20 years ago, but they've been a thing longer than that

Mate I can tell ya that every time we see American builds it hurts hahahah if only we could run 37's+ without getting raped from the cops 😂
I'm in Brevard County, Florida, USA. Where NASA/SpaceX resides. Love your content. Aussie's have so much in common with us over here!

When I was a kid you could ride dirt bikes or 4x4 anywhere. No helo's no cops.
Later 90s early 2000s in the county areas outside downtown no one batted an eye at ATVs and dirt bikes on the road. Those were the days
You can't beat African corrugation. A lot more gravel than tarout here!
