In order to get the pizza off the peel you need to put corn meal on the peel before the dough it acts like ball bearings and you can get the pizza off easier.

I used to work at a Round Table and we always sprinkled the corn meal down to help everything slide

You can also go into a professional kitchen store and get some screens. Once the pizza is about half done you use the peel to slide the pizza off the screen and onto the stone. My brother bought a pizza oven that goes on top if his grill and that works amazing too.

Yes, I think that a blog post about watercolor paper would be fantastic. Thanks for all that you to do to keep us informed about art products. There are so many things out there that are really good but also some that are definitely not worth the money so it's nice to be educated when we to go to the store or order online and know what to buy.

Taking advantage of small moments of joy seems so obvious, but it is such an important reminder for all of us. We devote so much time and stress to our jobs, chores, responsibilities, family obligations, errands etc that it is so easy to just flop and waste spare time online or consuming media. Enjoying nature and creating are so restorative and are like feasts for the soul. Thank you for always encouraging us to create and enjoy life!

It’s been nice watching your card videos in the evening to help me with collage. Watercolor paper info would be great! I stock up on paper when sales too. Have a lovely day.

Whitman rang a bell and lo and behold - I have an unopened pad stashed away in a drawer! It still has the price in old Belgian francs (euro became the EU currency in 1999). It's 400gsm, rough surface, 7x5. Price tag says 178 Belgian francs - that's about 4,2 euro. Yep... hoarding has its good sides. 😊

Hi, Lindsay - I have had a Kitchen Aid for over 30 years. I am not one to get every newfangled appliance, but it is one of my indispensable pieces of kitchenware that I can't live without. I make bread, cookies, and pizza dough with it mostly and it is "DA BOMB!" Your cards are always so nice. I will head over to that video later. The kitty is adorable! :) I will go check that out, too. The paper blog would always be helpful. Even though we have different needs and access, it is nice to know who like which paper for what technique. I give it a go . . . Thank you so much for the Saturday videos. They have become a habit for me to have my Saturday breakfast with you. :)have a great week.

Years ago, I had a hand mixer that I used until it gave up. I was devastated. My mom showed up at my house with a Kitchenaid mixer and that thing is a workhorse. I love it so much. There's this mock fruitcake recipe that my dad loves and I make it for his birthday every year. I liken it to mixing concrete because it's stiff and if you let it dry you have to practically chisel it off. That Kitchenaid mixes it no problem.

Through most of last year I was still getting most items 2 days after I order them, but I hear now they are saying that they have up to 48 hours to pull the items and then they ship them for 2 day delivery, which makes no sense to me. Hopefully they will change it back, otherwise, like you say - the membership price is no longer worth it!

I love watching/listening to your sat chats... I really enjoy how easily & comfortably you share tidbits of your life on camera... it feels as if I'm sitting across from you at a cafe having a coffee and catching up or something... you're always loads of fun and a joy to watch!! :)
Btw, the Tim Holtz Ideology die cuts of people are called Paper Dolls... but I love how you called them your "fake ancestors" in a past video... I always think of that whenever I see those being featured in a video (such as by Tim Holtz himself) and it always gets a giggle outta me as I remember you calling them fake ancestors... hahaha :D
And about that 00 flour, just a little (useless) tidbit of info: if I'm not mistaken, I believe that kind of flour is also recommended as being a great flour to use for pasta-making as well! Good to keep in mind perhaps if you happen to have a pasta roller (as I do), or if you're interested in making your own fresh pasta! (yum!!) ;)

Happy Saturday! Great chat as usual 💜 And I foresee you getting a kitchen aid in the not-too-distant future 😄 I LOVE mine, but haven't used it for awhile. I was going to make some ciabatta next week, because my son is moving back home, and he loves that bread. He's transferring from one univ of WI, to the one here in town. But now I'm inspired to make some pizza dough, thanks!! And I'm in the process of going through my craft area and reorganizing ALL OF IT. We are getting some much needed rain here in WI today, so I will spend the day going through all my scraps and supplies, and making pizza dough 🍕 Love you lady-have a lovely weekend!! 😊

Lindsay I wanted to let you know that I purchased that cell phone palette. I soaked it in really hot water for about 3 hours due to the glue. But everything is great and I used some double spaces but estimated that each space can hold up to about 3ml. Putting in ones own colors and it being so small turned out awesome! On another older metal palette I removed that mixing flat tray we never use and put the water brushes, pencils, pens and a couple of other brushes and that can be extra palette mixing space and I had to change the stickers. But it worked great, I stayed away from those that crack or might not dry. Thank you it can just be tossed in my purse! I got it and even though I do have a full plein air set up, this was great. Thank you again!

I have always wanted a Kitchen Aid big stand mixer. What a time saver. I did finally get a hand mixer from them while I was taking a cake decorating class. The instructor told us if we didn't have a stand mixer to make the frosting, that a hand mixer would be much better because it has more power and the beaters are wires so they cut through whatever you're mixing faster that the flat bands. She was right!
But You're probably stronger doing it by hand. I wanted a juicer too but my husband always said no. Ex now

Loved todays chat1 I grew up with my mother's Sunbeam stand mixer - Yum, the 7-minute frostings she made!!! So, my husband asked if I wanted a KitchenAid - Christmas of 1975 - and I had never used one, so I said no, a Sunbeam please. That was a lemon - the speed was faulty even after several repairs. Several years later, I got my KitchenAid and THAT was a game-changer! I got that one in the early 80s and it just keeps on going, and going and going! The dough,, the grated cheese for pizza this thing has known! I love attachments and it is wonderful! Now, all four of my kids have their own! :D And I LOVE Prime! It isn't as quick as it was, but it is still so handy!

Prime is awesome. Even through the pandemic our shipping was still pretty good, though we're in the Fort Hood area about an hour north of Austin. The other reason we love prime is we don't have cable so their streaming service is fantastic. It sucked at first but they've really stepped up their game - some great original stuff now too. I'll get rid of my Kitchen Aid only after the Apocalypse when there's no electricity. Also, King Arthur Flour is near your part of the country (Vermont) so you might be near a physical store. Their website is a fountain of all types of baking, plus they have all kinds of specialty flours and ingredients.

So I looked and I looked not happening. So I ordered one from Amazon...way more than a dollar. Then I get this message that it was returned because it was too damaged to deliver. It's made of steel! How damaged could it be? Ok, back to the $Tree....still no on several trips. So after maybe three weeks I decided to re-order the one from Amazon. The day it arrived I had been the $Tree that morning . Guess what...I have four of them now

Happy Saturday! I'd love to read/see your take on various papers so one vote for yes please. I have some 10 year old Neocolor II and Polychromos that have taken a beating and keep on working and producing amazing results. I haven't noticed a difference between the old and new ones I've purchased. I have some Blick colored pencils the same age as the Polychromos and the casing is cracking on some and they will not live through a proper sharpening.
I've come to find that paying just a little more up front saves you more in the long run if you aren't going to use stuff up in a reasonable amount.of time. I love buying new art supplies and am a paper hoarder so I need stuff to last lol

I'm in NH and have definitely been enjoying the weather we have had this past week. You talking about going kayaking, last week or maybe week before, reminded me that that was on my bucket list of things to do this summer. Like you mentioned, kayaks are HEAVY, and there is simply NO way I could lift one onto a car rack and then down and so I did a bunch of searching. To rent a kayak on the big lake (winnepesaukee), it costs 50 bucks for 4 hours. I searched a bunch of reviews for inflatable kayaks cause I know I could carry that myself. Long story short, I bought myself an inflatable kayak. I've not done kayaking since I was about 10 years old, a LONG time ago. I'm looking forward to going out on some of the ponds and smaller lakes in the next few weeks, and if things go well, when I go camping in Acadia in late august or sept, I'll bring it along with me. I'll let you know how my first trip out in it goes. Watch me hit a sharp rock and go flying through the lake as my inflatable kayak deflates LOL. Thanks for doing these sat chats, they make my week.

HI Lindsay. When you purchased the item on Prime, it has to qualify for Prime. Not all items do. Always check the delivery date when you go to checkout. For the most part, at least where I live in the midwest, Amazon is very good at delivering when they say they will. In fact, many items arrive the very next day! I've been extremely happy with my Prime membership. For a while, during the Pandemic, they made it clear their delivery times were going to be slowed down.. But they seem back to normal now. TFS!

If you did a blog post, you could add to it with new papers and it could become maybe a go to review site.

Oh My Goodness... I finally treated myself to my KitchenAid about 6 years ago and they're going to have to pry that sucker out of my cold dead hands 😂🥰. Trust me, once you've used it to shred chicken? I pity the fool that tries to take it away from you!

My twelve year old son made meringue for lemon meringue pie in about 5 minutes for father’s day. We make tons of Christmas cookies and if I didn’t have my Kitchen Aide I wouldn’t make half what we do. Love my Kitchen Aide. I’ve had it for 15 years. It’s a must for pizza dough.

I was fortunate enough to have my aunt gift me a kitchen aid for a house warming. It is the bees knees 💕
As always thanks for the morning chat, much appreciated 😊
I love that you own roller blades l, I do too. Buuuut had kids and my feet grew 🤷‍♀️Who knew? So saving them for my daughter.
Have a great rest of the weekend 👋🏼
    P. S. I would love to see how you did the watermelon with pencils I’m just learning how to play with them and am just in awe of how you make art with them.

I love my kitchen aid! Hope you can get one…if you can wait that long, around Christmas time they have really good deals. I would totally watch a long video on watercolor paper comparisons! And I have watched a lot of the watercolor paper reviews on RUclips and haven’t seen anyone do a comparison for equivalencies for overseas artist. So I think that would be an interesting video. Even if the bulk of the information was on a blog post.

Really enjoyed my coffee with you this morning. I watch on my TV and don't always remember to get on the phone and comment. I'm not signed in there as the app spreads to all the Roku boxes and I do not want hubs bigfoot videos taking over. I sure hope my views are counting. I think I have watched every thing you have put up. Please keep it up.

Hot top. Never heard that one before. Ticks are one thing that completely freak me out. Spiders don't, snakes don't too much. But I will scream like a 3 year old if a tick gets on me ***shudder***

Never heard of hot top either. I think we call it tarmac here in the UK.
I have had prime for a while now and so far it's working out. I get next day delivery on most of my orders and I also use Amazon video. I took out a free trial some years ago when it was more expensive and they were supposed to give you a 30 day trial before charging you but they used to take your money straight away which I managed to get refunded.

I would love to have one of those Kitchen Aids, I would probably bake more if I had one! haha I finally located the Simply Cards magazine at Chapters last night and I bought it. Those bird stamps & dies are adorable, can't wait to rewatch your card video and make some. Thanks Lindsay. P.S. I always learn something new from you, like ph reactive pens. What’s it called and how do I get one of those!
I got a stand mixer for Christmas and I agree, it’s amazing!
Quick question, if the sizing of my Arches 300 lb. paper stash has gone off, can I coat it with anything to make it workable? Thanks! Hope you’re having a good weekend.

    • @thefrugalcrafter

You can buy water color sizing to add to your paper or you can use the paper for gouache. The pen was called an acid tester I think. I bought it ages ago made by American crafts

Would definitely appreciate the blog post about watercolor paper. I’m a beginner still, taking 2 of your watercolor classes (and your drawing class), and I’ve tried a bunch of papers… never sure how much is my (lack of) skill vs paper when it dries splotchy at end of my strokes.
It’s great to have inexpensive paper to practice basics, but would help to know if I need to work on technique vs paper issues. It would also help if you showed some typical issues you see with cheap/cellulose papers.

Great Sat Chat. My ceramic kiln can get beyond 1000 degrees, but I'd have to just make personal pizzas in it because it's not that big. Haha! I made crust once with my grandson and forgot the yeast! Luckily, it wasn't too late to fix it. Lots of Amish around here so I laughed out loud about that. I either make mine by hand or in my food processor. I had a moment of enlightenment when I saw that pretty flowered blouse. I have several knit skirts that no longer fit, but I love the patterns which are similar to your blouse. I think I'm going to reinvent them so thanks for that unexpected bit of inspiration. Also, thanks for mentioning the issue with RUclips glitches. Our church services have taken a long time to process, too. I can kind of explain what's going on from what you and our videographer say. Kayaking sounds more and more fun. I'm not sure I could rollerblade though. I wiped out several people years ago trying to learn to just roller skate! I'd like to see the paper comparison on your blog, too. Thanks for all you do and have a wonderful summer. I hope we have more crisp 70s because that was ideal without humidity where I live.

I've been a Prime member for years now and have been totally spoiled by the fast shipping. However, Covid caused that to be an impossibility for a long while due to the social distancing and less employees working per shift...also a consideration for shipping companies. Then the speed picked back up again as the pandemic restrictions began to lift. However, now the shipping and probably Amazon warehouses are hit with a lack of employees due to the changes allowing monthly unemployment payments to be extended. My son has been a grocery store manager for some years and he hasn't been able to get employees to come back to work or find new hires due to this change in policy. I was recently reading about problems with OTR truck drivers too. My son also had problems getting his shelves restocked for the same shipping reasons. The vendors that he purchased from had trouble getting their own warehouses stocked and Frito-Lay, Kellogs, etc. cited the same problems with getting deliveries due to lack of truckers to ship their goods. We live in 'interesting times' ...to borrow from an old Chinese curse.

On paper I would like to try... a friend in college from Bangladesh received some papyrus paper from his family, it was as soft as cloth, with a beautiful texture; it made me drool. I don't know if it would be good for watercolor, but, it has been used for ink for centuries.

Inflatable SUP boards are HEAVY if you have all the stuff in the backpack. And it takes a lot to blow them up to make them super hard! I LOVE mine but just be ready - I was a more expensive package ($500) but I love it!! Plus it takes up a lot of space if you plan to travel with it - just be prepared to pack around it.

Stand mixers are totally easy mode for baked goods. Pity it's 'winter' here ( average temp ~41-70°f) or I'd consider making some bread. I guess i could always use my recently run dishwasher as a proving cabinet 😅

Hi Lindsay-Summer is so HOT here in Florida, we're thinking of making a trip to Maine in September. We can't decide between Bangor or Portland as the place to fly to. Any recommendations for either, pros and cons? We're not kayakers, etc., but like sightseeing, walking, beaches. We did like Halifax, Nova Scotia.

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  3 года назад

Portland is probably much cheaper to fly in and out of. Im not too familiar with Portland but it's closer to the sand beaches like old orchard and popham. There is better shopping there and way more things to do. Bangor is only an hour away from acadia National part and the rugged coast. It is less populated here but also less to do.
