- New Thomas And Friends Adventures. Gordon, James and Hugo. Thomas Adventures replace Take N Plays. There are a number of changes but the best is the new clip coupling system. This is the first of the Thomas character tender engines I have seen in the Thomas Adventures toys. The pricing of these new Thomas toys is less than Thomas Take N Play. The Trackmaster 2 Hugo is seen in this video and it's a great Thomas character with a working propeller. Hugo is based on a curious bit of German rail history .The Schienenzeppelin or rail zeppelin was an experimental railcar which resembled a zeppelin airship in appearance. It was designed and developed by the German aircraft engineer Franz Kruckenberg in 1929. Propulsion was by means of a propeller located at the rear. It accelerated the railcar to 230.2 km/h (143 mph) setting the land speed record for a petrol powered rail vehicle. Only a single example was ever built, which due to safety concerns remained out of service and was finally dismantled in 1939. It's an interesting addition to the Thomas stories and toy line.

I purchased these toys with my own money and some were difficult to find. I also notice these new Thomas Adventures toys are selling quite well. I think this is a good change of direction for the die-cast Thomas toys and sure we would like to see some basic details return. In the end that costs money to do and the toy company needs to profit for Thomas to continue.
leokimvideo It is a good coupling system but i feel like its gonna break and here is my reason why, Children these days normally keep at least 1 toy from their childhood and i feel like that the plastic magnets will wear and tear after a while of play especially if the child throws the toy against a wall or any hard surface and it may be cheap but could it be a downgrade in quality.

I'm not sure when everyone will wake up and realize that the free iPad apps are killing a generation of kids. I have seen how destructive they are first hand and I'm going to go to war to make sure my viewers understand this is a BAD move. Sadly there are so many children now who are iPad addicts and have a digital device dependency. It wrecks their eyesight and can lead to all sorts of other health problems both mental and physical. I'm one of the very few RUclipsrs prepared to shout out loud about this massive problem that has been brewing since the iPad Christmas of 2010. We are now 7 years down the track and real damage is being done, apart from that it's hammered toy sales. How can anyone compete against endless free apps.

These toys are fantastic.
Hugo feels like a chuggington train with a 10 foot human face on the front. His face isn't round, it's got the shape of a humans
I'm from Germany. So it's very nice too see a character like Hugo.
I am waiting for the French Vs German story about Mr Diesel. I never knew about the Zep rail car, so for me Hugo had me learn about some rare rail history. Sadly the toy packaging has missed that opportunity.

Maybe the problem is Hollywood can't get their head around this most amazing woman who had many firsts in aviation. The story about her would blow away films like The Right Stuff and The Aviator in an instant. I can't believe how her story is so difficult to deal with because of her ties to Hitler.

The only complain that I'm having is that. Some rolling stocks are not available to my country here in the Philippines. There are some characters are available to overseas like Bertie, Butch, and Trevor and some new trains from the Thomas and the great race. Overall, I'm amazed that how Fischer Price had their toys similar to what we have in ASEAN.

I wonder if Shooting Star Gordon will sell as Adventures. The Take N Play (ugly magnet version) is a major peg warmer. What I would really love to see is Streamlined Thomas with blue Annie & Clarabel.
I agree, the shorting star Gordon was released in collectible railway but it was lacking a lot of 'personality' it just had a big blue body with some purple lining I think it would have sold better if it had a red face before he blew up
I want to get my hands on shooting star gordon and I never can he's very hard to find. Where I live in Canada is worse then Australia same prices but to find a new track master lets say it is very hard

I recently ordered a Adventures Hugo and Ivan and Hugo is one of the first models by Mattel to have a good representation for example he's not squished like D261. My only complaint about Adventures : they are so much lighter. I held my take along thomas and Adventures Ivan and the difference is insane.

I actually got the Shark Escape Set just the other day. Not that I had a choice though it was the only thing related to Thoma & Friends Adventures that my local Walmart was carrying at the time. (And it still is) I would've checked other local stores that carry the line but Walmart is the only one I'm able to go to since it's closest to where I live in Iowa.
I'm personally fine with Henrietta's face as it really gave her personality and honestly brought back her character as she basically became a nobody character after the second season episode Daisy which was her last speaking role until the eighteen season episode Signals Crossed

I much prefer the new couplers on these toys. As a kid I remember loving when toys were cross compatable occasionally. I remember loosing my mind when the wooden railway toys fit on the blue Tomy track. So I can see the fun and play-ability of these having couplers that can fit into other toys.
Also as far as the changes go from the old take and play, take along, whatever the first wave was, I'm really saddened by the lack of cab details, but even more than that, it's the wheels. I miss when the wheels actually looked good. They seem decent enough on these but the front running wheels and such that are now just black and painted on instead of just having one small wheel set really irk me.
Also the insane bulk of the chassis is really the killer for me. The massive box the wheels fit in is just abnormally excessive. If it looked like a normal train wheel set I'd love it but look at Henrietta The black bulk underneath her is HUGE and really take away from the toy.
Rant aside, I really feel they're going in the right direction with these after the train wreck that the last version was. Hopefully they start making some more little changes to improve them even more, but the couplers were a very good start.

it would be nice if they made toys exactly like this for the younger audience which are cheap but great, and toys which are basically the same but had better proportions and more details such as buffer details and better paint such as a white running board which would be more for the older audience and would cost more

Certainly nice items; look forward to seeing those new sets and the talking engines. I'm very tempted to start collecting these toys (even though my space is limited :P) but will restrain myself to the MINIS for now...
The streamlined thomas is meant to also be making a comeback in this range, I just picked up the dumb magnet version on clearance from Myer... makes for an interesting story I think
The curious aspect to the talking Thomas is you get the old big drivers cab with the new clip connectors. I'm not sure what the space theme is about apart from flogging parts that belong to Stanley. What's also weird is the rocket engine part seems to be reversed in box. There is a turbine at the rear and flames facing Thomas. From the reissuing of Thomas toys that dumb magnet must have really affected sales. I know visually it was a train wreck..no pun intended. I just hope they do the Gold 70th Thomas as clip connector.

It's great to see that the dumb magnets are gone but I wish they could add a few more details to the engines if they did the engines would look so much better.
It's weird that the propeller in the cartoon has 4 feathers, while on the toy there are only 3. They can't even copy a toy from a cartoon made by the same company...

Okay... the whole reason they're advertising that RUclips Kids thing is because Mattel has these Adventures shorts on the official Thomas and Friends RUclips Channel and some of the toys such as the Talking Space Thomas and the Shark Escape Set are based off those shorts. If the kids don't watch the shorts they'll be confused over why Thomas has a space helmet on or why he's battling a shark. I totally understand your frustration with the app advertisement, but I thought I'd just tell you why their pushing it. P.S. You ranting about it constantly is getting kind of annoying to be honest
