Love what you’re doing in the garden, Cherry! What a great idea. I didn’t realize why but last year only the egg plant survived the heat in my new garden. That was the bed I placed a grate over. I’m sure you’ll see great results. I’m having similar issues with the heat. Thanks for sharing!
Hi Cherrie! I do understand. I'm in Southern California, zone 9B. We have been in the 90s for a couple of weeks. We're expecting triple digits by Wednesday. I'll be placing shade cloth throughout my garden. I do like your setup. Thanks for sharing!😊
Then you completely understand as we move into even hotter weather. The shade and leaf covering were my last hope. So far it seems to be working. Thanks for the encouragement!!
@@CherrieMcKenzie I am experimenting with using buried olla watering pots to help with watering during the hot weather. The water is suppose to release slowly through the terracotta pot over several days directly to the roots of the plants.
@@matthewstone7367 That is a great idea!! I have some tomato suckers I've rooted out and will try a wicking approach to see how that works planting them. THANKS!!
Wonderful!
Glad you think so because I was desperate. 😂
Great job!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching

Yes, the Florida sun is no joke and this year has REALLY been hot so early. The shading does help!!
Great idea. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you busy lady!!
What a great idea!! I hope this works for your garden.
Thanks for the encouragement and it is already working!! For the last 2 days I have not seen the dreaded afternoon wilt.

Big fan of your mulch and shade boxes! I just planted out my tomatoes and peppers
Wonderful!! But, be watchful because the hot weather and bugs will be moving your way.
