    My favorite is the Doctor strange. In one game I confused and stunned Ultron on my turn in a four player game.

    Hulk is definitely my least favorite hero released BY FAR. He’s extremely frustrating. He has so many weaknesses and doesn’t have nearly enough strengths to counter act them. More than any character he’s susceptible to turns where he can do little to nothing which doesn’t feel very Hulk. Also because his deck is designed to have no long term strategy and no building (he’s pretty much the same from turn 1 to turn 10) and because you can only play 1, maybe 2 cards per turn he becomes boring quite quickly.
    I wish they’d designed him more like his ally card. Cheap powerful cards that are counterbalanced by being risky in that they can sometimes backfire on you and your team if you’re unlucky.

      Completely agree. He stinks! He's like a nerfed version of cpt Marvel.

    I was really looking forward to Hulk but after trying him with many different decks and aspects, I've decided I will never use him again (unless there are rules changes/errata). He can be completely shut down by a single stun or exhaustion, has to discard so can't hold on to an unusable card (which is often with only 4 cards), has a terrible obligation (can't be removed and will usually reduce your hand to 2 for that turn), all nemesis cards have 3 boosts, and tied for the smallest hand sizes in the game with no built-in way to increase it.
    There's just way too many turns in which you have to do essentially nothing. It's nice to hit a minion for 13 with overkill, but those moments are way too rare to make up for the frustration he otherwise brings (and a single tough card ruins Hulk Smash). Hulk is by far the weakest (yay for "strongest" Avenger) hero in the game. There are logged stats from BGG that show that to be true as well. Hulk sucks in this game.

      100% agree - I play She Hulk to get my hulk fix and just pretend it’s Hulk in drag 😂😂😂

    Going to try Hulk this weekend and looking forward to it. Doctor Strange and Black Widow are my two current favorites, but I’ll for sure do a She-Hulk and Hulk team up here shortly, I thought her deck was a ton of fun too. I’m probably looking forward to Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver the most, although to be honest I can’t wait to have Rise of Red Skull and some more villains.

    This hero deck made me sad. Made a "We have a Hulk ... finally" deck on Marvel CDB, using math and the community. He works quite well. Great solo game.

    I am new to this game, can I ask some questions on ‘Martial Prowess’? I don’t understand about ‘Play under any player’s control.’ Means my second player can use this card from my deck?
    And ‘Max 1 per player’ means I only can have one card of this if I am playing solo?

    • @TheDButt
      @TheDButt 3 года назад

      If you are running 2 characters yourself you can choose which character to give martial prowess to - or if playing with more people you can give it to any player you want.
      I think 1 player is referring to one character when saying max 1 per player - e.g. if playing Hulk and Spiderman you could have 1 with your hulk deck and 1 with your Spiderman deck. But if just playing Hulk you could only have 1 of those cards in the hulk deck

    I would watch those playtroughs! I enjoy Marvel Champions but sometimes I’m left feeling i might be playing it wrong.
    Also enjoy your favorite game friday show!!! All the best!!!

    I quite enjoy Hulk. I love to rush in and damage things anyway, so he fits my style. He certainly is not very subtle, but that's to be expected. I am a little bit disappointed by the release rate of heroes to villains, though. Since the baddies really drive the game, the game needs about 3 times as many villains as it currently has. I wish they would accelerate the villain release, even if it means we won't get heroes quite as fast. Here's hoping Rise of Red Skull will improve the situation!

    I like how thematic hulk is, but for me he is the most frustrating/constricted character so far. He has a couple big moments, and lots of frustrating moments. It makes sense then, that my favorite character so far is Doctor Strange, who can combo his turns like crazy!

    I find Hulk to be a tough deck to play solo unless you use a justice deck. My winning percentage is definitely not high with him in the game.
    As for favorite decks, I have a lot of fun with Captain America. Iron Man is also a ton of fun to play but takes a while to get going. That makes him challenging for solo play.

    Ms. Marvel’s my favorite so far! I’m most looking forward to Scarlet Witch and your review of Rise of Red Skull!

    Hulk really does work exactly like he should, thematically speaking: SMASH. But with a hand size of 4, he's his own worst enemy. Again, thematically spot on, but boy does that make it tougher than you might expect to play him well. His hero form and beefy hit points really incentivizes you to remain as Hulk as much as possible, which suggests to me that to really get the most smashing out of him, it might be best to play with a buddy who can manage threat and give Hulk a bit of additional card draw.
    That said, I don't know that I'd want him be different from this design. If you gave him a hand size of 5 (for instance), he'd be OP as hell, so it feels like this is "right", but ideally he'd have some support.

  • @JimCrimmins

    Not my favorite deck.... was hoping for more SMASH honestly out of Hulk... She-Hulk is a better deck with similar strength w/o the limitations on hand size... this one's a little flat for me. Ms. Marvel and Doc Strange were both more interesting to play imo.

    Has he ever rated a hero deck poorly. This is literally one of the worst ones.

    I like that is it a challenge to play it right. Also:
    "I don't always thwart, but when I do HULK SMASH PUNY THREAT!"

  • @panda5996

    2 years after, hulk still sucks.
    Hulk's ability should have been discard your hand and deal 1 damage to an enemy for each fist resource printed on each card discarded this way.
    Suborbital Leap - very underpowered card for a unique card even compared to an aspect card like for justice. this cost should have been reduced to 2.
    Unstoppable Force - another underpowered card compared even to a non-aspect card like limitless stamina. This should have been an upgrade card that readies hulk with a resource cost and fist resource lets you draw a card.
    banner's lab - this card is not even as good as genius (a non-aspect card for bruce banner) should have been bruce banner gets +1 hand size.

  • @user-fr1ys2wn4t
    @user-fr1ys2wn4t 3 года назад

    He's flat out terrible. The worst hero in the game. Like his 0 thwart and low hand size wasn't enough, the devs punish you by having to discard after you draw in alter ego(unlike cpt Marvel) and discard your entire hand after your turn which makes reactive cards like "preemtive strike" and "you'll pay for that" utterly useless for Hulk. He can play 1 card each turn and attack. That's his entire turn ! Where are his upgrades? Where is his Ally? He's trash tier and he's boring. Did they skip playtesting for him?
