You are a real one for this. More of these tutorials with content heavy clean document design would be great to see. Sometimes the more subtle, functional projects are overlooked
I was going to close this video because you were using Photoshop and I was looking for tips on Illustrator but I stayed a little longer and found that you gave a lot of great resources for colors and fonts that could be used anywhere! Thanks a lot!
InDesign or Illustrator would definitely be better, but I made this tutorial for the good people who prefer Photoshop and are more comfortable with Photoshop. Thanks for the comment, man 🍻
YES Please make the entire resume tutorial, I was hoping this had you adding everything in and then when you said "I just dropped in a whole lot of content" I was sad. LOL
Awesome! i really feel like i am not getting enough out of photoshop knowing all it can do. I would love to see more stuff like this to expand my abilities. I don't mind long tutorials I would rather spend the time and learn the full thing. TY ether way.
Hello Nathaniel! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I will be happy if you can do the entire tutorial for the resume :). Thanks to your videos, i have learnt so much !!! Merci :) Hello from Paris
I agree with most people that it's better to be done in Ai or Id. But I also get why he'd do this for some people who are more comfortable using photoshop for lay out. I for once started Ps way back in college to lay out Research Posters (with lots of texts and illustrations) and even our college journal that is about 15 pages. But Ps is the only software I can afford before and Ai seemed pretty complex and less flexible for me back then.
very good details!!! I love this! and these days i want to make a showcase for my event photos, I saw in LR has "web", they can create a nice template as filmstrip layout... but it can't be exported as jpg or so... can you teach us how to make nice contact sheet like that in PS or LR easily? thx
It's a combo of something I got from VideoHive and doing a bunch of customization in After Effects. I'll do a tutorial once I start doing the After Effects tutorials 👍
When you first started I was thinking why not use something like MS Word. But then when you got into it I saw how PS just has more options. My only problem is I don't have the 'design taste or imagination' to come up with an attractive design. I guess you need to do a lot of them and maybe it will improve. Still PS users will get to use those text and layout tools that we photographers rarely get into.
Normally I would use InDesign for something like this, or maybe even possibly Illustrator. I would have never thought to use Photoshop, I actually didn’t even know Photoshop had the character and paragraph styles.
If it was for a real project I probably would have gone all out. This was more about messing around with some layout tips and techniques. I totally agree on going to 300 when you can! 🍻
Probably some good tips in there, however as a designer myself I would not recommend following this kind of style for a resume, the visual style is over the top and a bit garish, or at least in the UK you definitely wouldn't use this style as employers wouldn't take it seriously. Also lastly I definitely wouldn't suggest to use Photoshop for drawing up documents as there are far better software you can use, namely InDesign or Illustrator. Photoshop is just the wrong tool for the job.
When your "ten-minute" tutorial is actually 20 minutes long SMH 🙄
tutvid 😆
tutvid 😂😂😂😂😂. I'll watch it anyways
tutvid how could you *lie* to me?
EDIT: Canadian isn't a language; Canada's official languages are English and French.
@Vietnam That little bit of the resume was meant to be a joke 😂 Thanks for the comments, too! :D
It's 10 minutes when you play it at two times the normal speed. ;)
This guy gave us extra minutes of tutorials! LETS GET HIM BOYS!
Matt Stirling 😆
You are a real one for this. More of these tutorials with content heavy clean document design would be great to see. Sometimes the more subtle, functional projects are overlooked
For sure. I'll work more of this stuff in!
I was going to close this video because you were using Photoshop and I was looking for tips on Illustrator but I stayed a little longer and found that you gave a lot of great resources for colors and fonts that could be used anywhere! Thanks a lot!
I definitely want a full tutorial! I love ALL your work you're a great teacher man!
I'll be doing it! Thanks, man!
Great Photoshop knowledge! BUT, why oh why would you create a resume layout in Photoshop and not InDesign?
InDesign is better when you are doing several pages, like a magazine or newspaper. For a single page Illustrator would be the most adequate.
I agree. I use Ai for single page layouts. But this video was great and it is always great to have multiple techniques in your bag.
InDesign or Illustrator would definitely be better, but I made this tutorial for the good people who prefer Photoshop and are more comfortable with Photoshop. Thanks for the comment, man 🍻
tutvid yeah! If we need more fantastic graphics then PS would be better than AI & ID! Ps would be more comfortable than others!
YES Please make the entire resume tutorial, I was hoping this had you adding everything in and then when you said "I just dropped in a whole lot of content" I was sad. LOL
I'll do it!
Please do it tutvid! Also, Could you make a tutorial on how to create your logo or one similar, I love the design.

Yes do this, but more in depth!!
Thanks for the tutorial, where I can find this lower third you use now?
It's a combo of something I got from VideoHive and doing a bunch of customization in After Effects. I'll do a tutorial once I start doing the After Effects tutorials 👍
this is really something for indesign imo
that harsh moment when you realized TutVid kick the shit outta most 4 year BA Graphic Design courses and does it for free lol
lol for real
Dead ass I've learned more from this page in the past year than I have in school!
😳 Shots fired!
(I agree with you, though)
that was great
Thanks a lot
Why did you do a text heavy photoshop document with a 150dpi??
I would love to see a full tutorial
Working on pulling it together now!
*I am going to copy this resume pattern* 😆
CAn you please explain how to reduce file size as resume made in PS are atleast an MB and can have attachment issues.

Hey Nate that's a beautiful guitar behind you -- do you play much?
Absolutely. Been playing for about 10 years. I'm not all that great, but maybe someday I'll plunk around on a live stream.
tutvid fantastic buddy. Rock on man!
When you first started I was thinking why not use something like MS Word. But then when you got into it I saw how PS just has more options. Full Tutorial Please!!
I'll be working on it 👍
This would have been great to yeah in InDesign.
Normally I would use InDesign for something like this, or maybe even possibly Illustrator. I would have never thought to use Photoshop, I actually didn’t even know Photoshop had the character and paragraph styles.
Is there a way to do the New Guide Layout in AI?
Can you share this psd?
we need full detailed graphic design tutorial....
InDesign is better for this type of work imo
Wow...dear bro...
Thanks! 🍻
Where is the link to 10 Golden rules you should live by when combining fonts?
I'm so bad at remembering to include links in the description.... bahhhhh I'll add it now!
If this is going to be printed, why not go for a full resolution of 300dpi?
If it was for a real project I probably would have gone all out. This was more about messing around with some layout tips and techniques. I totally agree on going to 300 when you can! 🍻
No it wasn't 10 minutes but it was very helpful ☺️
Character Styles. Who knew.
I don't like when people tell me what to do so I want to become a freelancer in anything.
Why did not you use INDESIGN?
Np man. I just put the video on 2 speed so that should round it up to 10 minutes I guess :))
I like the way you think 👌
Damn I'd like to learn Canadian too 😂
😂😂😂
I knew design ran in my family somewhere
Probably some good tips in there, however as a designer myself I would not recommend following this kind of style for a resume, the visual style is over the top and a bit garish, or at least in the UK you definitely wouldn't use this style as employers wouldn't take it seriously. plz full tutoial iam i think more interesting
Le (presque) drapeau de la Bretagne !! 😂
Nice tutorial, but I didn't know Canadian was a language.
Haha, it was a little joke part of the resume 😜
If your a trained graphic designer you'd be alot better off using InDesign. Photoshop is a nightmare for text and alignment in comparison.
