Johnny, when he formed the Brooklyn Bridge and was at his peak, put out some of the most beautiful and harmonious songs of all time. Of course my fave, "Worst That Could Happen", was so underrated, but "Welcome Me Love", "Blessed Is The Rain", the somewhat childish & silly, yet GORGEOUS "Your Kite, My Kite", showcased a great horn section but those songs had more "parts", as far as vocal background harmony, as any ever wriitten or recorded. His voice was so velvety smooth & so unique.

How well I remember Johnny and The Crests performing in Jackson Mississippi. It was such a great show as my sister and I had front row seats. In order to perform (mixed groups ) not allowed at that time, Johnny wore extra pancake makeup to look darker. As the show wore on and the sweating began his makeup melted off his face. Was really no problem as his skin color was same as mine and I am mixed race. They took pictures with us but mine faded long ago. Blame Kodak for the instant prints. He was a genius. RIP Johnny

Pardon me for saying what I am about to write here. I have had the honor of meeting Johnny at a show I did with Ronnie Italiano at
De Witt Clinton H.S. Bronx NYC in 1987. Always admired him and how he dressed. In the last few years I have been sick and I figure my life is now somewhat shortened. So I promised myself that by the end of this year, I will have lost enough weight and hopefully, be healthy enough, I am going to emulate his style and sing some of his songs. In my range of course LOL. I guess everybody has to have a goal. He should be in Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame.
