As part of a film project called Alone Yet Not Alone , based in 1755 and is about the devastating effect of the war between the European powers and Ohio Valley. I was contacted from a member of the team who was curious about how the Hymn would sound arranged completely acapella, and as soon as I heard it I had to make my own version. So I present to you my arrangement of Alone Yet Not Alone.

Sam, I gotta tell ya - your stuff is so moving. I've been brought to tears more than once by your obviously heart-felt renditions... Really some of the best work I've ever heard - and I'm an old guy (57) so that means I've been around the pile a few times and seen a heap.... all jokes aside, I've been drawn closer to the Lord listening to your arrangements and performances, and I think that's what it's all supposed to be about: using the medium of music that connects with our hearts to share life-giving relationship in a way that's inviting and accessible. you do that in a powerful and effective way, brother. Please keep it up, and may your heart stay pure and unsullied as it bumps into people and situations that are less pure and more stained by ulterior motives and agendas.... God bless you, Sam.

I stumbled across this singer a little while ago, it was "I need Thee"...…let me say this: it blew my mind. I know that the Lord showed me your amazing songs and I praise Him for that.
Your music is like no other, it's drawing me closer to God my Savior, and it causes me to pray. I have now listened to many many more of your work Sam, and I don't think I have the right words to explain how I feel!

One thing I do know: many have said: "how can it be that this isn't better recognised/appreciated in the media?" - I think it's because your music is saturated, through and through, by the holy spirit.....and sadly the world will NOT recognise it.
I was so shaken the first time I heard it, ("I need Thee"), that I sent it to close friends and family...the reaction was "good voice" but no more.....I was hoping that someone could be touched like I was, but some didn't even reply. It makes me so sad. The world won't recognise your work, Sam, but I thank you for doing this, from the bottom of my heart.
Keep it coming. Can't get enough. We play your hymns before church on Sunday mornings. In the sanctuary.

Sam, it’s simply not possible to label you; in your videos, I hear notes lower than a bass guitar can hit, and I always rewind the video to make sure my ears are hearing right 😅, but at the same time you reach powerful harmonies while maintaining clarity... you’re in your own category- there’s bass, baritone, tenor, and then there’s you! I think one of the greatest things about your videos, above and beyond the richness and complexity of the arrangements is that you communicate so well the pleasure of singing. It feels so good to do it, and SO good when you get it right. The physical pleasure of the singer is not always so apparent to the listener. But you clearly want to communicate that.

Another grand slam, Mr. Robson. I am in awe of your continuing inspiration and arranging genius. The overwhelming impression I take away from this recording is the pure joy of singing. To watch you as you sing really shows your absolute love for making a joyful noise, but even with my eyes closed, I hear the pure joy in every note of every part. Wow again.

I have listened to this recording several times; but for whatever reason, just now, God touched my heart as though He were saying this song is His message to me, and I couldn't hold back the tears. I have been going through an extended period of feeling alone and forsaken, but while listening to this, God reminded me that He will always be with me through the fires and storms of life. Thank you for sharing the gift of music, and the gift of comfort.

I have enjoyed all of your arrangements, but this one is really something special for me. Maybe it is the message, or the singing, or the arrangement itself or the combination of all of it, but this is one I listen to over and over.

In 1755-1763 one of my ancestors was taken from her home and was being held captive by native americans. She was too young to remember what anyone in her family looked like but her mother always used to sing this hymn to her as she fell asleep. After being held for years, the military came through and rescued her. They went through with all of the stolen children and were trying to reunite the different families that were separated by the kidnappings. They asked the child's mother if there was anyway for her to identify her daughter, Regina since 8 years had passed and she wouldn't know what she looked like. She once again sang this hymn for her daughter Regina some where in a crowd of people and Regina recognized it and began to sing along with her. I like to imagine the two of them standing far apart in a crowd, knowing that they are alone, but knowing that the other is there somewhere, and when they began to sing, hearing one another from a distance. People making way for them as they moved towards each other, finally being reunited by the grace of God. And the thought that may have gone through theirs heads assuring them that even when alone they, were indeed not alone.
Thank you for this piece. It was beautiful and definitely made me tear up, as well as remember this old story my mom likes to go on about. It was a nice to think about that old story again for a while and you made that happen so thanks.
