- President Kovind presents Shaurya Chakra to Paratrooper Sonam Tshering Tamang, Parachute Regiment (Special Forces). He displayed raw courage and utmost gallantry in eliminating one terrorist, injuring another terrorist and evacuating Subedar Sanjiv Kumar to safety.
Being his friend, school mate and neighbour.. I can say, he has made all of us proud...

Hes the only one who survived OP randoori behak, a brave man indeed. I got chills in spine when he narrated how that operation happened. This must have been very hard for him to stand and receive award sans his brothers in arms.

The question is why compare them with these soldiers in these context. Plz maintain the decorum of that award, i understand there wld be an adrenaline rush and flow of emotions while typing these words for you. But again these are highly professional soldiers who are to be respected by their own identity and dignity not through the means of comparison.
Have you ever heard people in 70s and 80s saying things like "whos Rajesh khanna who's dilip kumar whos farooq sheikh.... Sqdrn leader Rakesh sharma is real hero". No they won't.

@@tamoghnaroy6510 there is a fine difference between the virtues and vices of both the professions, people know less about paratroopers because that's the important aspect of their job, u less these investiture ceremonies none of us wldve known about them and that's the way soldiers prefer to be i.e clandestine, where as actors are the one who are supposed to be projected on screen cause thats the part of their profession.
As a matter of fact, the para SF operators who did strike in leepa Valley were soo discreet that even their families never knew what they actually are doing

I don't think the actors themselves are under any illusion that they are heroes compared to our soldiers or some of the other deserving Padma awardees.

i feel so embarrassed when I see no one standing for our heroes. They deserve so much even words are insufficient to express how i am feeling for our unsung heroes who laid down their life and sacrifice for the nation. As a humble British Army veteran I salute you sir.... what a warrior and force for good you are .....a one man Army and to lose your comrades must be an agony to you...♥️♥️ I see he is a Gurkha so say no more , those men are legendary in battle.........
In the 1982 Falklands War the Argentinians heard that the Gurkhas were going to attack thier positions , they all surrendered rather than face those men with the Kukris......

My wife's grandmother was from Shillong in the Cassie hills , she was an Officer in the Indian Army in WW2 and met and married my wife's grandad whilst he was recovering from a wound fighting the Japanese, he was a 6ft 2 inch tall , big Yorkshire sergeant ( who was fanatical about Cricket ) in the infantry and she was only 4ft 6 inches tall , both sadly gone now .....

Paratrooper. Tshering is is from the Special Forces and is being awarded with India's 3rd highest military honour during peace time, the shaurya chakra/SC. I dont know the British equivalent to that though.
The unit 4 SF had sent a hit team of 6 to search for pakistani terrorists after getting intel abt them, in waist deep snow at an altitude of 10,000 feet. While searching, 3 of them including the Sergeant were at a cornice which broke and they fell inside, right into the middle of a cave where the terrorists were hiding.
Evrything happenned so fast, the other 3 guys when they saw their frnds in trouble, without caring for their lives, jumped in as well and together they killed all the hiding jihadis. Only Ptr.Tshering survived; one of the fallen NCO had taken over 14 bullets and still fought! The NCOs were in their early 20's.
Due to inclement weather it took time to get to them; may b a couple of guys cud have been saved if not for the horrible weather conditions. It was a very tragic news and the whole nation mourned them.
