India only recruit them but normally gurkhas are people from Nepal or part of assam drajelling and sikkim. British only recruit nepali citizenship though and thats the reason theyre famous amongst the world.( i meam world ok not India, just because indo poppilation is high doesnt mean they’re the world… their are many literate people besides. My grand dad was an illiterate, but due to he being in Indian army.. My dad became Chartered Accountant from India.. My dad did all his schooling and everything from dehradun, India.. After being CA from India, he moved to Nepal and started practicing as CA in Nepal.. So Indian army as an institution is to be thanked for the privileges I have.. If my grand dad was not in Indian army then God knows, I would have prolly been in village struggling for day to day bread and butter.. I've quite few gorkhali friends from my college days and I amazed by their honesty and bravely coz their was a fight in a restaurant where my every non Gorkha friend flew away but only 3 Gorkha friend stood with me and trust me jo pagalpan sawar tha unke uper 2 ka sir fod diya 1 ki Kamar tod di and they got only normal wounds baki to unki todne ki tarike dekhke bhag gaye I really surprised and happy by their act I invited them in my sister's wedding they invited me at their home at dusshera offered me their dishes like sel roti normally looks like a big donuts ,Gorkha chatni chicken wow ! now some of them are in foreign country but still we're in touch and I'm happy I've got to be friends with these buddys ...

One fact to mention here, during expansion of Gurkha Empire lead by Nepali army Amar Singh Thapa meets Ranjit Singh of Punjab and respecting each other they never fought the war and did treaty ! Later when Nepal had “Sugauli Treaty with British” , Amar Singh Thapa went to Punjab army and again fought against British Raj ! Beside Japanese the Dense Jungle, Snakes, Mosquito, Excess RainFall, Heat, Diseases like Dysentry, Malaria ,Lack of Supply, Muddy terrain, High Mountains and the soldiers have to carry their Extra supplies in this difficulties are the other factors which makes this OPERATION LONG CLOTH worst nightmare of the WW2.
Forest was so dense that Japanese and Chindits patrol team bummped with eachother and fist fight started.

My grand dad was also in Indian army.. I am Nepali and not so fond of India but I do respect India for helping my family to get out of the poverty.. My grand dad was an illiterate, but due to he being in Indian army.. My dad became Chartered Accountant from India.. My dad did all his schooling and everything from dehradun, India.. After being CA from India, he moved to Nepal and started practicing as CA in Nepal.. So Indian army as an institution is to be thanked for the privileges I have.. If my grand dad was not in Indian army then God knows, I would have prolly been in village struggling for day to day bread and butter.. But still I am not fond of India and Indians in general cause I have had faced the racist remarks when I was in Delhi even tho I am not Mongoloid.. I am a Chhetri and will pass as people of uttarakhand or himachal pradesh but people were still rude to me.. So yeah kinda Meh but I still owe something to Indian army and I will nevee ever disrespect Indian army nomatter what..

I've quite few gorkhali friends from my college days and I amazed by their honesty and bravely coz their was a fight in a restaurant where my every non Gorkha friend flew away but only 3 Gorkha friend stood with me and trust me jo pagalpan sawar tha unke uper 2 ka sir fod diya 1 ki Kamar tod di and they got only normal wounds baki to unki todne ki tarike dekhke bhag gaye I really surprised and happy by their act I invited them in my sister's wedding they invited me at their home at dusshera offered me their dishes like sel roti normally looks like a big donuts ,Gorkha chatni chicken wow ! now some of them are in foreign country but still we're in touch and I'm happy I've got to be friends with these buddys ...

One fact to mention here, during expansion of Gurkha Empire lead by Nepali army Amar Singh Thapa meets Ranjit Singh of Punjab and respecting each other they never fought the war and did treaty ! Later when Nepal had “Sugauli Treaty with British” , Amar Singh Thapa went to Punjab army and again fought against British Raj !
Even today being Nepali, whenever I meet Punjabi people, we immediately become friends !
