  • After my C-Dory 22 Cruiser was struck by lightning I began the insurance claim process and started on the repairs to get here back ready for the water. Some damage was apparent, some was not so obvious until I started digging a bit deeper into the effected areas....

    Hi Trip. My wife and I started watching your videos due to our curiosity of the C-Dory boats. Great job on the videos. New subscriber here. Thanks and many blessings.

    👍 I have been waiting for this update since the lightning strike. So happy you’re back on track. Your positive attitude is so uplifting. Good to see your ”pride and joy” will be back in the water again. All clean and shiny! All the best to you.

    On those pressure washers. I have one but different brand. Tip. When you use it. First hookup the handle. Second the water hose. Three breed out the air with out an tip on it. Works faster. After nothing but water coming out. Put on tip. Hoop up power. Turn on. The pump doesn't like to run with no water in it. Then when done. Unhook power. Turn off water. Take out tip. Hold on handle until water pressure is released. The handle is hard to take off under pressure. Then rapup and put away. Just sharing.

    Only problem I see with leave the fuel tank covers off is the UV factor on the tanks them selves and the fuel.

    fabric mesh nets would hide and add a good little storage area. could use buttons to snap it on and off for cleaning and what not

    I've tried the starboard thing with 5200 only stays like that for a few months eventually will fall off. 5200 takes a full week to dry.

  • @BAnthony919
    @BAnthony919 2 года назад +1

    Word of the wise… 5200 doesn’t really stick to starboard…. Wouldn’t want to see you accidentally destroy that nice transducer. I used a stern saver kit which is the same idea except they drilled pocket holes in the corners which you then fill with epoxy adhesive. Then you put it on the transom. The hole give it something to hang on to

    • @gfrerking
      @gfrerking 2 года назад

      Agreed - I used a Stern Saver kit too. It's got a specially formulated adhesive. You're (Trip) right about the transducer being tethered and hopefully that will prevent serious damage (I imagine you'll notice it right away on the display)... make sure the "leash" is short enough that the transducer can't reach the prop or well, you get the idea. It could ruin your day in more ways than one.

  • @Choctawhatchee_Trash
    @Choctawhatchee_Trash 2 года назад

    Problem with starboard is it has Teflon in it, so not much sticks to it well. Hopefully your 5200 fix will work

    You should caulk where you put those gas tank screws also less chance of getting rot

  • @boatingsibbingandwandering3262

    Trip you know you can mount transducers inside the hull as the signal will go through the hull

    Progressive insurance is always been good to me. I'm not going to go with anything else. Absolutely have to have insurance to go to any Marina. And I've always been able to conduct business with them without any problem . Everybody says I should do this or do that with insurance company and hell I will pay a dollar more for insurance when I get quality. And I am not trying to be a spokesman for them. But I've been on the water all my life and I have been through some crap. And they have answered my phone call when I was in tears, true story New Orleans area

    The only way to spot repair wet core is to drill a pattern of holes, get a syringe and inject penetrating epoxy into each hole until it starts showing through all the holes. Barley thread a stainless screw into each hole and let it cure.

    Brother why did you go to 1 outboard?

  • @krisinva
    @krisinva 2 года назад

    I *think* that if the insurance company considers it a total loss you can get a pay out and still buy the boat back from them.

    Get rid of the carpet. It takes too long to dry and rots any wood under it. On a trailer bunk it moves water by capillaryto the bunk chucks and rots the galvanized steelunder it.

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  2 года назад

      Luckily, that carpet dries pretty quick but I have been rolling it up when it's not in use to allow for better ventilation around it. My trailer bunks have rubber caps on them, I guess that'll work?
