Man, these KIDS sound like polished professionals together. Their timing and harmonizing make them sound like a duet that have done a lot of work in the studio together. Both of them are really strong vocalists by themselves, but together they are just plain MAGIC!!!

Still watching this in 2019. Scotty lived in Garner NC when I lived there during the recession. He worked as a bag boy in a supermarket called 'Loew's" (not the appliance store.) When he became famous his mother (who has a house down the street from the supermarket) made Scotty go in the store and give two week's notice. Great family.

My sweet hometown Georgia Peach and friend right there, Lauren. She's the best!! She even flew us out to see her on American Idol, The Climb!! So proud of her.

Haley is doing better than the both of them but don't forget, Scotty was cut by his record label and that set him back for way over a year. However, he has since been resigned to a record label and is finally getting back on track.
Nonetheless, I wish them all well and hope they all have wonderful careers. As they are all tremendously talented, but nonetheless, Haley is still the most talented of the three of them.
Oh yeah, Casey is doing well, but not as well as Haley, Scotty, and Lauren are.

I love how good these two sound together. You can see the chemistry, they nailed this song. One of my very favorite songs during the time I had a hard breakup! I loved it but would get upset when I heard it. This is a beautiful song with so much truth it's not funny!

@mommynab This is my favorite all time Idol duet and one of my all time favorite performances. Why it wasn't released in the 1st place is beyond me. I would have bought it in a heartbeat. Very rarely do you see 2 strangers come together and harmonize so well, so quickly. They better each other when they sing together. Their chemistry is undeniable. I hope Scotty gets his wish and has a Lauren duet on his first album.
Not to take ANYTHING from their voice quality and the talent of their instrument, but what makes this video so timeless, and crosses all boundaries of music classes, is the chemistry that imminnated from this young angel, who is not singing from her diaphragm or lungs, but straight from her loving heart. Scotty, they must call you Mr. self control. I would surely have succumbed to her obvious magnetism, even If I were a gay man!

I remember when they performed this on the show. I was floored. Best duet in Idol history!!! Whoever decided to put these 2 together made one smart move!! What amazed me the most was for as good as I thought they were solo, I think they actually sing better together. They seem much more relaxed. Amazing, amazing, amazing!
I honestly cannot understand why people liked Haley so much more than these two. I thought they were the clear, obvious top two. I was rooting for Lauren to win but now I'm glad Scotty did because I love his music so much and his voice and just him as a person. Maybe I just didn't like Haley's style or her attitude, but I though Scotty and Lauren were hands down the easy top two.
Somebody obviously like these two,they made it for the final two,with annoying Haley in 3rd place.

***** I hear Lauren on country radio all the time and I went to an event where she sang a few feet away from me,she has gotten better,she's gotten more confident in her singing,she doesn't hold back on singing high long notes anymore,look up her live cover of girl crush,it's better than a lot of covers of that song,Haley I have only hear her Elvis cover on the radio,my cities radio stations don't play her other stuff.

Although I like all three of them, Haley was clearly the best by far on the show that season and, indeed, in my mind and a lot of other people's minds, Haley is the best American Idol ever.
In addition, during that season Haley had far more moments on that show than both Scotty and Lauren combined came close to having. Moreover, I challenge any of you to cite just one thing that Haley ever did that could remotely be construed as having a bad or annoying attitude on the show, as she came off as being a very cool person and if any of you loons ever met her and her parents, you would see she is the sweetest person in the world. Of course, at the producer's behest, first Randy and then subsequently JLO too were trying to sabotage Haley's performances to influence the audience to vote against her, but nevertheless they miserably failed because Haley was far too good.
In any event, the reason Haley didn't win was because of American Idol's extremely ludicrous voting system that allowed people to vote all they wanted for two hours after the show, and because of young adolescent female voters who power voted as a voting bloc not with their brains, but with their hormones, in stark contrast to adult voters who voted one time if at all. Thus, when Haley got to the top three that's as far as she could have possibly gone, because those young adolescent females were power voting Scotty and the girl they were shipping him with, which was Lauren.
Not to mention that Lauren credits Haley more than anyone else on the show for her success, as she viewed Haley as her mentor and also doesn't understand how Haley didn't win the show that season.
In fact, for five years, from season 7 to season 11, the best contestants didn't win because of those young adolescent females voters. Then in season 12 the producers rigged the show so a female would finally win, but in doing so the level of talent fell so far off previous seasons, that American Idol ended up losing most of their audience and, subsequently, was never able to recover that audience back, which ultimately sealed its fate.
It seems like this just jumped by a million hit, fantastic it is worthy of that and more!
Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis did it a trillion times better.

I love the subtlety he uses in this performance..very strong, he seems sad as he sings..like he is feeling the meaning of the song..AND HE IS PRESENTING AN AWARD THIS WEDNESDAY ON THE CMA AWARDS..NEXT YEAR HE WILLGET BEST NEW ARTIST!!!!
