Steve's humor was the essence of the Letterman experience. The Nation needs more of this zany stuff.
Mujibur and Serijul… I met them at an airport .. then saw them again at baggage claim at La Guardia… months later I was walking down Broadway and they saw me and it was “Hello my friend” so after that I always stopped and hung out with them when ever I was walking past their shop.
They still have those huge smiles that light up a room.
@@thelettermanpodcastThey are "super clean!"
😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😮😅😅😅😅😅
There will never be another show like Late Night and Late Show. It truly was a miracle. Nothing like that will ever happen again. Everyone did such a wonderful job. Thanks Dave!
Dave was the gold standard of broadcasting and an unrivaled instantaneous wit. And then he surrounded himself with genius level talent for all the collaborative positions. Mr O’Donnell is the gold standard of those collaborators.
Yep
Colbert has taken the show to new and higher levels.
I just loved how Jim Carrey delivered his lines in that 60 Minutes piece! XD
The series of appearances by Meg Parsont on Letterman's show(s) is quite possibly the greatest thing to ever broadcast on late night television.
Discovering Meg across the street was a wonderful bit of good luck, for sure. Great close to this themed group of Favorite Moments, and loved the background memories of how it happened to come about.
#1 on that Craftsman tools list was Leonard Tepper, aka "Veronica!"
Thanks to dave and the writers, i used the term "husky idler" for years afterwards
So did Madeleine.
OMG, the news interruption that nothing has changed is SO REAL! 😹😹😹😹
Genius.
I started watching this clip at breakfast and woke up at 12:30am. As an Ohio native, it's nice to see a warped midwestern sense of humor behind the success of my favorite show. I really miss Don Pardo.
thanks Steve. I remember them all. you did fantastic work their that made millions of us happy. fun times. cheers.
Colleen Boyl I watch it many times with The Don compilation on it 🤩
Yes! Way to go, Steve and Dave! Those classic Late Night and Late Show moments will always be amazing.
We will never see TV like this ever again, watch and enjoy people.....
All those memories are great television moments 😮
Conan learned everything from his older brother, Steve.
It’s a perspective worth pursuing…. Get the DNA clamps.
Individually wrapped corn flakes. Genius!
‘We never had these problems with Sajak.’
Steve is so generous with these. Thank you, good sir!!
Steve O'Donnell is a national treasure! Nice apron btw!
I never heard the origin of "husky idler" before :D
Don Giller has a clip of the whole thing on his channel as well.
Thanks Steve. Loved it. Cannot wait for Part 4!
Hopefully we have him back on our show again first ;)
We were on a family trip from Michigan to South Dakota to visit family. My parents were thrilled to see the crew at Mount Rushmore, we were all devastated when OJ cut the segment.
That was great, but I must have somehow missed parts 1 and 2, which I will now find.
But it occurs to me that Steve would make an excellent narrator voice for cartoons. I could imagine him narrating something like the Grinch or something along those lines. He's got such an interesting voice.
He was great on our show too.
And speaking of cartoons he worked on Space Ghost :)
You said narrator, but my brain read host, which would also be good. He’s that affable, dryer kind of silly you get from a Midwesterner. I could see him introducing his favorite UPA cartoons or talking about why this director handled Daffy better than that one. Like the guy on TCM but for goofuses.
@@bodyslamhimjeff host would work too....good call! He definitely has the overall vibe for either of those kinds of things.
I LOVE THAT CAR & TRUCK SONG!
Individually wrapped Corn Flakes is a great idea. For comedy, not for breakfast.
I went to that same high school, John Marshall in Cleveland. Coach Quayle was a hard-assed. I was fortunate to never have him, but I did have to run on that underground track many times. I'm surprised we didn't all come down with some lung disease.
Late Night doesn’t get on the air without Dave and Merrill… but I bet it wouldn’t have become a phenomenon without Steve O’Donnell. The whole show was based on finding the perfect mix of brilliant and stupid, and he made sure everyone understood what was happening. You could do 10 more videos with Steve and he’d still have hilarious bits left over.
Great show, many laughs, loved it ❤
13:24 OMG the origin of "Husky idler"! Incredible.
VIEWER REQUEST: all the unedited Meg segments
Don Giller has the whole thing on his channel.
@@thelettermanpodcast awesome. Much thx!!
@@TheFPSChannel you bet!
I watched the Colleen Boyle bit when it first aired. It still cracks me up.
These collections are delightful
Great segment. Keep them coming!
How pleased the songwriter would be to know his car rental song was shared and sung years later
We're ready for Pt. 4 Steve!
Hey hey! He needs to come back on our show again first.
Can Steve have any other shows? Or all other shows? I’d love to have Steve spread across tv!
He was on our show, and will be again.
- 14:43 - Brilliant, Tom Hanks eating 1000 cocktails
I don't remember when or why but Dave in the late 90s had fun yelling out "hey, dude!" which is a line in a Mott The Hoople song. I always wondered what the context was.
I love Dave sitting there in an Angels hat with an LSU football shirt. I don't know why. 19:31
great stuff! good memories!
So jealous you had the second best job in the known universe, Steve, bested only by being Zsa Zsa Gabor's brassiere straightener.
Good gig!
"It's just plain big."
I can't wait for Part 14!
Fun fact: Colleen Boyl came on Late Show in 2014/15 and she was in the audience!!! Was a great full circle moment.
This guy might be lucky, but he’s no Bob Hammerquist.
Slappy White definitely needs to be on the $10,000 bill. And I wanted to hear Andrea Sande’s gym teacher story.
After seeing that Nancy Kerrigan clip, I'm now solidly on Team Harding! (Too soon?)
The Hypno-Wheel hypnotized me into chopping up my poodle. You'll be hearing from my attorney.
I just loved those Top Ten List books and still own all four! I got one for Christmas from my parents and bought the other three for myself.
"We were shocked at what we saw. There just aren't enough books for sale."
They hold up really well.
I had that book and I definitely juiced it. 😂
15:20 Given how many NBC News anchors had appeared as guests on the show over the years, I always thought Bob Jamieson was a strange choice for this bit, but he really sold it.
More of those Las Vegas episodes please!!!!
Oh man that was funny.
And he went on to write for Norm MacDonald. Wonder if he wrote the "gold-plated chain" joke
Thank youuuuuu all❤❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉
I get a real John C McGinley vibe from this guy 😂
...um, ...why am I at work eating lunch at 12:30am...?
Because you are a lucky son-of-a-gun, that’s why!
😂😂😂😂😂😂

What is the recipe???
I love the clips Steve O'Donnell brings up. So damn funny! and Regis popping up in one is always great!
God speed, Jim Carrey. Now he belongs to the ages! 🥺😢😭
:)
Steve,
Sorry to break the news to you, but your optometrist ripped you off...
On your next visit, ask that the temples on your eyeglasses actually fit over your ears.
You got ripped off. 😢
Conan’s dad
Aggressive and bland at the same time ~~> lol
