I paid $10 more for Belkins and it’s 100% worth it! It has MagSafe, watch charger, and an additional regular wireless charger for AirPods or any device. All on a nice sturdy stand. Idk why Apple charges so much for this one lol. I got the Belkin from apples website.

Great review. Love how you use the x-ray paper. Don’t know why they didn’t have a three-way. I’ve got a three-way pad for phone, watch and AirPods and leave all three overnight. Missed opportunities at Apple didn’t do the same. Also, at $130 it’s too expensive.

Last year prior to MagSafe I ordered the Apple Exclusive Scosche BaseLynx Modular System Pro Kit for our two iPhone 11 Pro Max and my Watch. Basically it’s a wireless charging home station with no adapter needed as it plugs in the wall and power passed to each module you care to add which I added one for a second iPhone. The Kit charges a iPhones, a Watch and any other five devices you care to cable up and leave in the rack. It came with two braided lightning cables (USB A & C) that plugged in one of the three USB A (12W) jacks or two USB C (18W) jack. The iPhone chargers have charging verification lights and a silicone ring to help keep the phone stationary. The Watch charger can also flip up to charge the watch in either orientation. For the iPhone 12 owners the MagSafe Duo Charger will be slightly less expensive but lacks 72W of charging by cables. The MagsSafe Duo Charger is the clear winner for the need of a portable system or for faster wireless charging. There is a reason Apple is still selling this system a year after I bought it. It is a home device clutter collector charging station for as many devices you care to charge. Have more phones to charge or additional watches or none? Each module can be bought as needed by skipping the kit and buying just what you need. I love this review and the future with MagSafe but until then....👍🏼

@zollotech Thank you for this video, I was hoping you would cover this and test different adapters and you did exactly that. So it seems despite Apple recommending a 20W+, you can use an 18W with no issues whatsoever? It is surprisingly how little difference there is in charging speed from an 10w to a 30w. The 30 didn’t even max out the charger at the 14w apple claims. I was debating getting a 30w adapter but it seems like I’ll be fine with my old 18w from my iPad Pro.
I have purchased a MagSafe duo (used but like new) to give it a shot. I thought I would return it while ordering but man this thing is really convenient. Saves me from carrying tons of adapters, cables and stuff. When I travel I just bring my MacBook Air charger and cable along with a tiny OTG Type-C to Lightning converter dongle and this fella and be done with it. It is expensive for sure for a wireless charger, but it is way more compact and convenient than carrying 3 4 adapters, cables and dongles for all my devices.
After upgrading my family phones above 11 models, i've ordered two of these "mag safe duo". Pretty convenient as a night stand for watch and iPhone.

Only use-case I could see for this is a frequent work related flyer. Even then I’m curious how the build quality will hold up after being tossed in and out of a carry on bag.

Everyone seems to be missing one of the best features. You can fold it the opposite way to charge only the watch or only the phone with an even smaller footprint.
Is there a possibility to charge other wireless charging iphones, from X to 11 pro, and see if the magsafe duo can charge them and document their charging speeds?

I bought a MagSafe Duo recently (Amazon UK 99 pounds) having watched Aaron's video - trusted source! Surely charger performance is only relevant if you don't sleep much, as any iPhone charger will complete its work within about 6 hours. It's good to have phone and watch side by side so I can listen to early morning radio. It's a neat package, overpriced if viewed objectively but decent value as another piece in the Apple jigsaw.

Hello Aaron, can I use my 2019 MacBook Pro charging brick (96W) for the MagSafe duo ? Regarding Apple it should work fine since the 96W brick delivers 9V = 3A which should give you the best charing experience for the MagSafe Duo. Can you confirm that ? Thank you for your helpful videos !

Informative video about MagSafe duo. Still in two minds whether to go for MagSafe or a C94 charging system. What d’u suggest?.
Also how do I find out phone case thickness?. Because I have a biodegradable phone case from Pela and want to know how thick it is if I have to go ahead with MagSafe. Mostly I may go for MagSafe in 2024 when this XR of mine runs out of software update. Until then mostly will stick with this XR.

I used Moshi wireless charger for iPhone for 3 years. For the watch, just its own charger. Looking for a consolidated option like this.
What about charging speeds for non iphone12 models like xs etc? How fast do they charge? Same 11 and 14w?
My issue with the magsafe is that it won't charge through my Otterbox Defender Case. The 11 Promax would using Qi.
I ordered one and it should be in tomorrow. It would have been cool if when you tapped on your iPhone there was an animation that showed the battery level of both the phone and watch.

Picking up mine on Friday
My experience with wireless charging on the 12 mini as opposed to the xs that I upgraded has been a headache to say the least. I had a belkin boost up with my XP’s and it was fine at charging my xs and my Apple Watch it once I upgraded the 12 mini did not work well. Because of the size difference and the location of the wireless charging sweet spot. I tried propping the phone up with something but that didn’t help. Made the charger useless. My wired 30w ravpower usb c to lightning setup works great but it’s wired. Looking for a wireless solution tried an insignia 15w wireless charger, knowing it wouldn’t get 15w on the phone and of course it didn’t work, but oddly enough it would charge to about 80% then stop maybe due to heat, also noticed issues with finding the sweet spot on the phone placing it on the mat. Essentially went back to my yootech charger from years ago purchased from Amazon seems to work fine.
Phew! Nice to see that the 18W adapter can handle this well! Really dont want to spend another 20-30 dollars on a brick

I would like to ask is it really harmful to charge my iPhone 11 with Anker Powerwave wireless charger and 1A/5V brick? Will it cause any damage to the phone or battery? Because I measured the charging speed, and it is something like +10% for about 20minutes, which I don't mind.
But will it cause damage to the phone? Because on the piece of paper you get with the charger, it says that charging with 1A/5V charger is bad.

I'd get the magsafe charger if it didn't leave a circle imprint on the back of the leather Apple magsafe case. However, I did get the Anker 20W Nano charger and that little thing charges my 12 Pro pretty fast!
Which would you recommend? The Apple 20w charger or the Anker Power Port Nano? I use the MagSafe and MagSafe Duo with the Power Port III Nano but seems like it is charging SLOW
I think you are overlooking a few aspects with your testing. The power through the usb cable is not the same as the power into the iphone. You are assuming 100% transmission efficiency through the wireless interface when it is more like 60-70% efficient. You can check with an app like ampere lite which estimates watts based on speed of battery percentage rise. That way you can compare and see that that 15W via magsafe is much slower than 15W wired (measuring using your inline usb device)
What about a 29W 12-inch MacBook adapter? Will it fast charge?

I was going to get the iPhone 12, would’ve been my first iPhone without button, I had the iPhone 8 Plus for 2 years before I switched to the iPhone SE (2020) and although I didn’t regret this change I did miss the bigger screen and although it’s not that bad, would still be nice to have a bigger screen. I’m going to wait for either the iPhone 13 or if the rumors are true the iPhone SE PLUS. I prefer the button to be honest.

Am I mistaken, or where those 20w chargers from Apple 18w last year? The one that came with the iPhone 11 Pro Max and iPad Pro 11"? No plans to purchase any of these. I have a RavPower wireless charger I use for the iPhone 12 Pro Max and I just plug my iPad Pro into the 18/20w charger typically to charge it. I have a RavPower brick with two USB and two USB-C that I also use for it, the phone, and my watch for charging over night in my bedroom.
Just got this. Tried with 29W iPad Pro charger. Only charges either watch or phone but not both.

Max on the MagSafe is 14W with the Duo.
