TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
ABRSM’s recommended tempo for this piece is 100 bpm, which is the speed this piece was recorded at. Be careful to observe all the dynamic markings, particularly at bar 13, when the volume should drop suddenly to piano. (soft) There is then a gradual build-up of volume from bar 13 until fortissimo (very loud) is reached at bars 20-21.
It is generally a good idea to develop the ability to be able to play mf (medium loud) / f (loud) / and finally ff (very loud) in order to fully bring out all the details of this piece and other pieces in the future.
In the exam, the D.C. al fine should be omitted. In other words, finish at bar 21 and do NOT play the first section again.
