TECHNICAL CONSIDERATIONS
ABRSM’s recommended tempo for this piece is 80 bpm, which is the tempo played in this video.
A good legato (smooth) touch is required, along with careful consideration of the numerous crescendos and diminuendos which frequently occur throughout the piece. The gradual building-up and fall of these phrases will make for a very musical performance and bring out the character of the music. Watch out for the rit. (slowing down) at bar 17, along with a very soft rolled chord on the final bar (pp) which is also pedalled for extra effect.
