I think my favorite part of league of legends lore is this song. They needed a female vocalist so they wrote this song to summon a literal angel of rock (if I remember correctly).
I remember listening to a podcast where they interview some of the team members behind the idea of Pentakill, KDA, etc... They said the team was told to approach the concepts as more of passion projects first and foremost, and then the marketing teams would take the products and figure out how to market it and make money from it. It makes for amazing cinematics, music, and performances because the pieces are designed with an artistic focus and is one of the main reasons that RIOT knocks each one out of the park!
Btw Dave they have a documentary on how they made some of their music, I think at one point it also touches on pentakill. It's called Frequencies - The Music of League of Legends. I know you're a music nerd so figured you might enjoy watching that in your off time. It's 40 minutes so probably not a great reaction video but still good. Also yes each member is a skin of a character much like they are in KDA. If you want to look them up: Karthus - Male Vocals(Necromancer) Kayle - Female Vocals(Winged female you see at the end and asked whos that) Olaf - Drummer(Dude drumming on rocks. He's a biking) Mordekaiser - Leade Guitar(Giant metal dude) Yorick - Bass Guitar(Hat dude) Sona - Keyboardist(Red Head Girl)
This encapsulates everything i love about metal. Its big, loud, and larger than life with just the right amount of humor and self awareness to know this is all for fun
Never got the notification, still got here within a minute of showing up in my feed. Note: All of the bandmates are playable characters in League of Legends. Vocalist: Karthus Lead guitarist: Mordekaiser Bass: Yorick "Keyboard": Sona Drums: Olaf The sixth member that this video introduced (the angel landing with the group) is Kayle.
I love this song, and the lyrics are great, it tells the old lore of a character from the game(Varus), he was the guardian who was tasked with protecting a demonic weapon so that nobody uses it, his village got invaded by people(Noxians) who were looking for that weapon(as the masses came like a shadow through this land), he was torn between his duty as guardian and helping his village(I stood strong I was honor bound), he was too late since the people that came for the weapon already came to him, after fighting them off, he went to the village and found it completely destroyed and his family dead(all i had taken away, my home is gone and my loved ones slain), out of rage and sarow(blinded by hate brought by the fall) he took the demonic weapon and swore revenge(I will punish and destroy all responsible for this ploy), of course the weapon is not good so it corrupted him but followed his desires but still twisted them, that why he says "now I seek the blood of those that claim to be innocent" as he saw all the people from that nation as enemies. In the song, it says "for every sleep claims a piece of me" implies that the weapon takes control
@@someguy6152 I know this is a 2 year late reply but dude thanks for writing this out, I didn't make the lore connection myself so this was super cool to learn about.
Yeah this is massive epicness, I don't even play league or anything but Pentakill goes hard. This is definitely one of my favorites by them too. Dave can I tell you about a band that you need to check out, They are a Metal band who are very underrated but have one of the greatest masterpieces and melodies I know, the name is Lost Horizon and the song I want you to check out is Heart of Storm by them. Since they aren't really known I don't think you would want to do reaction video (though I would love to see it) but definitely check them out even if its just on your own free time, I just want you to know that they exist. The epicness of Mortal Reminder really reminded me of the ending of Heart of Storm by Lost Horizon. These songs are just so good I can't get the smile out of my face, I can't believe that all of these things came out of peoples brains. Great reaction, just need to add that you are definitely one of my most favorite reaction channels.
4:08 - "And on the drums... The tower of power, Too sweet to be sour, Funky like a monkey, The sky's the limit, and space is the place... Macho Man, Rrrrandy Ssssavage...!"
dunno if anyone brought this up but the singer is both the voice of karthus in the band and in the game where he does all the voicelines for the champion itself
These are so good, they did a full digital concert I think you would like some of the songs from them unless you already did, still going through the archives lol
Also the one yordle who brought the "flute" is actually the most notorious piece of dung character in the game named Teemo, and it's not a flute it's actually a blowgun. So when people saw Teemo get punted like that in the video a lot of people LOST it, other champions in that video are Rumble and tristana before Sona rose from the piano (rumble was the one who tried to give sona the flower before he was denied)
Not sure if anyone else has mentioned it, but one of the guitarists for the video is basically a rendition of Slash. The one who came from the ground, whose name is Yorick
Dear Dave, Yes! Love that you watched this! A few small things to note that you wouldn't have known if you didn't play the game. The place they go to is, iirc, Bandle City home of the Yordles. Yordles are small and quirky and honestly are a mixed bag of characters all together. The big ones to note are: Teemo: He's the one with the "flute" you talked about. He is supposed to be a covert ops dude that deals in poisonous mushrooms and poison tipped dart fired from his blowgun. In game he has a reputation for being annoying and tricky to deal with at times since he can go invisible if he stands still for a few seconds. Tristana and Rumble: These two you see when Sona shows up and rises out of the piano. Tristana is a gunner that uses a cannon under her arm. Rumble, the blue furred one, pilots his own mech suit that has rockets, a flamethrower and more. Then the last one that I recognize is Poppy whose house Mordekaiser walked through when his portal was opened in it. Her dad was a blacksmith and the last thing he made was "The hammer of the hero." She is trying to find the true hammers wielder but never considered that it might be herself. There's a video called Tales of Runeterra: Don't Mess With Yordles that has most of them in it. It's not a music video but it is a cute one just to watch in free time. Hope you are doing well and life is going good for you.
Pentakill is a semi-sorta alternate timeline of Runeterra, where they show up like they did to play a concert. Yes these are characters from the League Lore, but this is a representation of the skinline for those champions , where the skinline and the band itself are called Pentakill. its suppose to be tongue and cheek kind of humor. Have your fun with it, but don't take it serious or as "Canon." The story of the lyrics is about a guardian, a solitary warrior that is meant to protect his people from the darkness, that has come to wreak havoc. he is here, he is honor bound to stand between his people and the darkness. he is the darkness's Mortal Reminder. Mortal Reminder was an item you could build in the game that would help champions that could kill you in a single combo of abilities to do so even faster, as when it was activated it would blast the target for damage, and then place a debuff on them that would increase all damage done to them for a few seconds. In league if you can use your champion's kit to kill someone in one combo its is known as "One-shotting" your opponent just as much as being so far ahead of your opponent that one ability will kill you as well. Later on the Item was removed from the game, because even after many Nerfs or depowerings of the item it was still TOO good at its job, and the only way they could balance the item and the champions that used it, was to simply remove the item, and give the champions that are affected or "nerfed" by this change a bit of a buff to their kit.
Each band member is a character from league and they have the penta kill skin lead singer (Karthus) pianist (sona) bassist (mordekaiser) guitar (yorick) drummer (Olaf) and the angel who fell from the sky at the end is (Kayle) she sings vocals on their third album on some of their songs. My personal favourites on the third album are lost chapter edge of night and light bringer acoustic but I love them all
yeah pentakill are all characters in the game overall and were put together with a skin line that was released in a group. since then there was also a 2nd version of their skinline released alongside their 3rd albums concert they held. youve got the vocalist Karthus who in game is an undying spirit ment to bring death to the living. his title ingame is literally the death bringer. then youve got the lead guitarist Mordekaiser who was the giant made of metal. hes always had a somewhat musical theme where even his ealiest version of his skills had metal song names in them (a few examples would be ace of spades, iron man, children of the grave and harvester of sorrow) on bass youve got Yorick in the game his title is shepard of souls and usually hes almost like a gravekeeper in design. on Keyboard you have Sona. in the game her skills are all based around different notes of her keyboard and shes actually considered mute. as for the drums the viking guy was Olaf. for his lore hes basically just a berserker. the last character they briefly showed is honestly the 2nd vocalist of the group and is a female vocalist as well. in game shes an angel who wields a sword of fire and is considered on the side of the righteous.
Hey, I just came across your channel, and I don't know if it's on your radar, but you should check out FalconShield's "My Spring Your Fall" and "Nothing To Forgive", as well as his "This is War 6" and "This is War 7".
DUDE YOU MISSED THE BEST PART, THE ENDING!!!! OMG that hurts my soul. Always, ALWAYS watch after the logo because they will sometimes add more after. Oof, I gotta go watch the ending now lol.
When Dave said "here I am" I immediately thought he was gonna say "on the road again" and now I'm thinking Metallica's cover of Turn The Page is necessary in his life lol. I really don't know how reactions to this group would work but if you're into orchestral stuff and a mix of genres Two Steps From Hell might interest you in your free time. As always your reactions are great!
if you are more interested about league of legends champions and their gameplay in the game I recommend a series by a youtuber named Skooch. his series "can we talk about this" is funny af and talks about the gameplay and abilities of the champions. my favorite champion is nocturne and I'd love if you reacted to Skooches "can we talk about this? nocturne". some say league of legends has a hard learning curve, but its not a curve, it's a wall straight up
Dave you missed the best part in the end because you stopped it... and the little one who got kicked is one of the most hated characters in-game called teemo and the kick made us the players very happy :D
PLEASE react to all his song from 3 albums PLEASE if not the 3 albums go with /tear of the goddes/ and /gatherin storm/ and you can hear the female vocalist of the band that 2 songs are TOP i swear to god
Pentakill is the real OG for Riot's music success for me.
"This dude shot a fireball out his guitar, what cord is that?!"
if i had to guess, probably the F Chord
F for Fireball
I think my favorite part of league of legends lore is this song. They needed a female vocalist so they wrote this song to summon a literal angel of rock (if I remember correctly).
You're gonna love the female Vocalist and her awesome screams. They introduce her (Kayle, the one with wings) in this very video.

It’s really cool how Sona used her spell that increases attack speed on Mordekaiser so that he could do his guitar solo
Btw Dave they have a documentary on how they made some of their music, I think at one point it also touches on pentakill. It's called Frequencies - The Music of League of Legends. Ah yes The Pentakill Skin line awesome if you can React to the Concert that would be Fire

All depends on how they perform. If they perform well, then sure. If not then I will listen to them off camera. So far so good 😁
