Tyler Joseph, 8th April 2013, during ‘Holding onto You’: “One of my favourite things about music, is called progressions. It’s called a chord progression, when you have several chords that continue to repeat. And I remember one of the things that draw me to song writing, was how different chords rubbed up next to each other. I had a very elementary understanding of music when I first started writing. I didn’t know what to call anything. I barely even know what chords I’m playing right now. There’s names for these, but when I looked down, and I saw these keys, and I heard that noise that one of them made, and I pressed another one at the same time, and those two buttons go together for some reason, I realised I could say something and people would hear me. I don’t mean to be too dramatic about it. But I want to encourage everyone to create something - try to say something. Those questions I was talking about earlier, I have a lot of big questions, you know, “what’s the point?” The further out you zoom out your perspective, the more questions you have. But for some reason, when you create something, when you are part of art, some of those questions begin to be answered. It won’t answer everything, but they begin to process. And then maybe by the end of the process, you might find out what you believe. And that’s what I hope for you.”
I was in the crowd for this performance. No more than 50 people and it was right before they blew up. I heard TOP from this same radio station when I was sitting in my car in my college parking lot waiting for my next class. They announced this free show about a month later and I still can't believe I got to see them in this type of setting. Now these guys are selling out arena tours and I couldn't be happier for them. They deserve everything coming their way.
You are a Lucky Guy, i Just Heard About They, on Blurryface, not Because i'm didn't care, just because i'm from Brazil, and they Only Blew Up here with Stressed Out, and when They Release Vessel i was A Kid, i AM Now 20 years Old, and they Are my Favorite Band/Duo, i Love Their Old Songs and New Song, each one a Different Story, i AM So Proud Of Being Their Fans, i Hope i Could Go to a Show Soon, It's one of my Dreams, they Have such a Good Energy, they Put a Lot of Emotion, i can't wait to see it Live
Holy shit. Tyler's "speech" at 14:35 absolutely brought me to tears. Something about the combination of his words mixed with the transition into the entertain my faith then the whole buildup... MAN. You can tell Tyler is so passionate about what he has created. Thank God for this band.
Okay so I've tried to scream like Tyler does as he performs (shown here near the close of holding on to you) but I just sound like a dying squirrel or something. Moral of the story- this guy's amazing, on so many levels.
I was here. It was a weekday at like 2 PM. There was maybe 25 people there. Awesome show. Saw them open for Neon Trees at a private university concert the same night.
i went to their concert in detroit, the fillmore, and let me tell you, there's something so powerful and moving about a crowd of hundreds of people chanting "we're broken people" over and over again.
Hey I was there too! There's something powerful about the message they spread and the affect they have on others. When everyone chants "we're broken people", when you hear everyone scream "my brains are sick but that's okay" and when everyone sings along to House Of Gold, I get chills. They have a way with motivating a crowd, with only two people. I saw foster the people at the fillmore, and I love foster but they had like 7 guys on stage and they all just stood there. twenty one pilots will always have a place in Detroit.
I think it comes from their history as worship leaders. I mean, that's what people do at a church is raise their hands and admit they're broken and sing to the sky. But this band sings those biblical ideas in ways that everyone can understand and share - it's beautiful to see at a concert
Alex Teller yeah I practise smashing all keys on the piano that's a very hard thing to do actually I sort of broke my piano doing this but now I'm getting better at it (im sorry i had fun making this joke
I love the fact that Josh's drum set doesn't have toms on this one and it makes him to improvise when he needs them and even in that way he still doing and sounding great
I love how in tylers little hoty speech he said he barely even knew what chords he was playing in that moment, and how he just liked the sound they made together
I know its weird i heard these guys about a year ago and ive been a serious fan ever since. ive never been a fan to bands or concerts until i heard these open for the "Next Big Thing" Concert in St.pete FL. once i heard this song right here and "Ode to Sleep" i was hooked and i still am their CD hasn't left my CD player in months. very very captivating, hats off to Twenty|One|Pilots |-/
Everyone is talking about how they were 5 minutes away from this small show and didn't see them BUT IM FROM COLUMBUS AND THEY USE TO PLAY LIKE EVERYWEEK WITH LIKE NO ONE! I KNEW ABOUT TØP DURING R@B CAUSE MY TEACHER TOLD US ABOUT THEM
I've Ben a drummer for 7 years now, and just saying, Josh messed up from around 4:00 h 4:05 but he recovered. Just to point it out haha I love these guys.
I'm so glad I found them just in time to include for my art folio.. I decided my theme was to be music at the start of this year (Which was 5 months before I got into twenty one pilots).. How, without it a dramatic/goofy movie scene wouldn't be as dramatic/funny.. It gives people the will to keep doing what they believe is right.. It saves lives, it saved my life and I would be a lot more lost without it.. It's a way of expressing oneself and it is universal.. Even without lyrics it manages to move you or pull on your heartstrings, send you chills.. A voice is the most powerful instrument and it's something that everyone has, but sometimes it takes time to form into something beautiful.. it's very personal in that aspect.. Music is just always there for you and you can always find a song or melody that describes how you feel and what you're thinking if you can't exactly find the words to describe them.. It is the cause of unity, for example is the clique which is very much worldwide..
I know this is older but they see so much different in this. Tyler especially, idk what it is maybe he's a little more anxious in this but something just off of. I think Josh must be calmer too because he's not hitting the drums very hard in this. It's weird seeing them this way but I like it. 😂😂❤️
oh i have alot of live performances from them on my channel and will be adding more September 29th when i go see them with Fallout Boys, Panic at the Disco at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa. so check them out if you want and if you like please subscribe or like the videos I'll keep them coming as long as people want to see them I'll make them.
i remember reading somewhere he was originally self teaching. he just hit notes to see what sounded good. that's kinda how I started, then I watched youtube tutorials. Now I have a teacher

it's so weird seeing Jish drum so gentle
that's what I was thinking!
I don't think the pianos hooked up so if he was louder then you wouldn't be able to hear it
he's looking at them like "nope cannot hit harder shhhhhhhhhhhhhh babies shhhhhhh"
yall think what i think
*a couple claps* "hey, no, we might suck, you don't know, you don't know" the sass
I love Tyler's little foot stomps
he has to twitch in some capacity lol.

Why did I not like tøp 3 years ago
I love the fact that Josh's drum set doesn't have toms on this one and it makes him to improvise when he needs them and even in that way he still doing and sounding great
“Letters by my bed” does he mean suicide notes...oh god this changes everything. How are they so good at making dark songs so catchy and happy
I love how in tylers little hoty speech he said he barely even knew what chords he was playing in that moment, and how he just liked the sound they made together
I literally broke down during his speech in holding on to you
I'm seeing them in Madison square garden this summer it's so insane how far they've come |-/
why am I coming back to this when I know it's going to make me so emo
Heard these guys in 2012, loved them since, I'd kill to see them. There music explains me
See them. Just do it. One of the best experiences of my life!
i feel the same way, its like our soul in music :) would love to see them live!
description: tyler is playing a 1930s steinway piano
Tyler: slaps said piano
Even though tylers voice is going in and out, it kind of makes the performance more beautiful
17cityblocks ya it makes it more real which is cool for the acoustic version

Austin M Anybody can tell he messed up and missed those symbols earlier.... you don't need 7 years of drumming experience; just ears.
Do you see they way he had to arrange his set? Awful. He's crammed in there & everything is wrong - poor Josh 😂
how have i not seen this
"i was like, 'mom chill out'"
*No one has a question for josh*

at 13:18, Josh misses the symbol haha
You're right, nice catch
And at 13:50 haha but I'm a drummer for 7 years so I notices that aha
+Austin M we get it you just started drumming you dont need to say it in every comment
+Austin M also he didn't miss the cymbal at 13:50 that was part of the song idiot
Ben Wilson I'm just curious as to why you're salty, drummers can miss their symbols every now and then
