  • Harley Davidson, Bring back HD360 10W40!!!!
This video talks about the current line of Harley Davidson motor oil and shows how Harley Davidson doesn't have a motor oil for cold weather riding in winter months. They used to, but not anymore since Harley Davidson HD360 10W40 was discontinued.

Why not change to semi synthetic 10 w 40. .. motorcycle oils, like silkaline, motul etc. . Just a normal basic 10 w 40, with a full purge, ie softail model's etc. ??
Especially in England, and North America "...where it's cold, but acceptable for short rides in winter

I changed to Amsoil 10-40 in my Evo engines due to in the winter the oil light would stay on with the Harley oil. Really hard to start like piston drag. kill the battery quickly. What a pain that was. Amsoil the Twin cam I use 20-50 the evos 10-40 they run much cooler and fire right up no matter what the temp, Throttle response big time improved. Thinking about going to the Ams v twin 20-50 in the Evos one is a 2005 sportster 1200 and the other A 1995 dyna FXDWG but they both seem to like the Amsoil MCFQT 10-40 they fire right up and run cooler even in traffic on a hot day. My Harley manuals say that the 10-40 is excellent and the 20-50 is good. Question is , which is it?. the Harley manual Does not give a a high temp limit for the 10-40.I do know it makes a huge difference in the cold. Whether it starts up or you get stuck. I noticed also the the Genuine Harley oils are made by Sun oil company and give No Specks. Kinda odd.

I've seen Harley Davidson manuals for the Twin Cam say to use 10W-40 below 40F. Any temps above 40F use 20W-50. This was before they started selling full synthetic 20W-50. Their first synthetic oil was a blend.

First begin when you riding your bike in the winter time especially a Harley-Davidson air-cooled motor you do not have a thermostat to control the cylinder temperature your best result is restricted airflow on the bike frame to maintain Heat it is a very important to have a temperature gauge in your oil if the motor is too cool you will have wear and tear the rings on the motorcycle will not seat properly you're required to have expansion to keep the ring tight in the cylinder only when the bike gets hot this is one principle I made a special guard for my Harley-Davidson Chopper in the winter time restrict the airflow when writing an cold temperatures it work very well 4 years no problem maintaining temperature this is very important to remember
