Thanks for the detailed instruction. I am in the middle of it and found out that I need a new lower shifter boot the dust cover. I had to order and wait for it.
I just discovered that my NA is missing the dust boot😮 I can only assume that the shop that did my transmission work failed to replace it. That’s been at least 5 years ago!
My car stopped going into gear. Like no gear would open up. This was the 3rd and final time within a month it did it. I opened up the shifter and there is no bushing on the end and I see chunks like particles down in the turret. When I got the vehicle, that shifter was getting really hot. I then popped it off and put a new boot on it. That helped tremendously. I recently changed the transmission oil and differential oil under the vehicle only recently. Now, that it doesn’t go in gear, I wonder if it is because I need a shifter rebuild? Mainly the bushing? Whatcha think?
Very good question. I think 2001 6speed cars were the first Miatas to not have a separate reservoir of fluid in the turret. Easy way to tell is to pour a small amount of fluid in to the turret and see if it drains away.

Now watching 2024 it's about time to change it 4 a new video 😅
Great camera work by the dog. 👍

I would change out your clutch slave cylinder and clutch master cylinder.
you are too gentleman makes me think of my highschool teacher.
Thank you 🙏🤝
What kind of oil did you put in it? Thanks
80w90 gear lube or 75w90 synthetic gear lube.
11:09 Moss Miata sells a brass version of that bushing that lasts longer
its abasically an upgraded bushing
I wasn't able to push my shifter back in and have it click back in like yours. I'm at a loss of what to do.
This has made my shifter really stiff. Not much play on neutral at all. Hopefully it wears in…😬😬
That’s strange. It might be wise to re-check it.
How much oil take to fill it up? Thanks!
I've read somewhere 100cc
About 4oz or until the oil is at the level of that washer he inspected on the wall. Yet, make sure you suck out all of the oil to empty.
Does a 2001 NB 6 Speed Turret uses any kind of oil? Do I need to fill the box?
Very good question.

🎶 If I had a million dollars, I'd buy you a Miata... but not a real Miata; that's cruel. 🎶
Does the 1800 Mk1 not have the top oil resevoir ? Thanks
The NA8 has the same turret reservoir as the NA6 Miata.
