I have lived all sorts of neighborhoods during my life, both in the country and in the city. One thing is true for all of them....screaming kids, both boys and girls. In fact sometimes kids just scream because they like to hear the noise come out of their little bodies. It's a universal truth. lol

Our previous next door neighbors children played outside all the time. One of the little girls used to squeal soooo loud continuously, it didn't matter what they were doing. I would always comment that the little squealer was out again.

Thanks for the cow update! The cows also remind me of growing up. We had both dairy and beef cows. I spent a lot time playing in the pasture with the milk cows. The paddock had a lot of very large rocks in it and those were fabulous for imaginary play. I would often lay on this one particular large rock and watch the clouds. We had a Jersey named "Pet" and she would always come over to check on me if she saw me laying down. Once a mom, always a mom! She would nudge me and "huff" a little. As if to say "Are you alright?" If I sat upright on the rock she never came round, only when I was laying down. Looking back, those were definitely some of the best times in my life.

This farm talk is so exciting to me brings me deep into my childhood; I’m now legitimately a city boy, but I was born and raised in the country. My grandparents were farmers and we like my parents we raised on a farm and hundreds of acres of land. Sometimes, I miss it greatly, the air, sky, sound’s everything is different and better in the countryside.

Lamb is delicious and the perfect protein source for smaller homesteads as they will eat more than just grass/hay and are easy to handle and butcher on farm - I’m excited to see how you go with expanding your flock.
Here in Australia most farmers will run a flock of sheep on the stubble in the paddocks after harvest is done then send them to market, which makes it an affordable red meat option and therefore commonly eaten.

I owned a jersey bull, which I halter broke, but I never stepped once into the same area as he was in. He was wonderful through the fencing, but I watched him try to turn over a 40 horsepower tractor, almost succeeding. The saying is that once they get you down, they won't let up and they grind you into the ground. That's exactly what he tried to do to that tractor.

In licensed raw dairies WA it is required to put milk in an ice water bath in the fridge for chilling. It chills faster than the freezer and there is no risk of it freezing. Just a thought.

Cats get fat from being fed kibble or wet food with non-meat fillers (rice, corn, etc). All fat cats I’ve had lost weight and became ideal weight when the food changed to all-meat wet food, and my 2 female fixed kitties I have now have eaten all-meat wet food their whole lives and are a perfect/slim weight, not fat. Check the food ingredients, cats are carnivores and shouldn’t really eat carbs, so if there’s anything other than meat and vitamins as ingredients in there then that’s probably what’s making them fat.

You just brought to mind a great child good memory of mine..
I was raised in a family where all my aunt's and uncles were farmers. not my parents though, my dad wanted a buisness degree and we did not live on a farm of our own.... Well as far as I was concerned.... I was ment to be on a farm... Well when 4-H. Season arrived.. I could not wait for the two months of going to my aunt and uncles house full time. In return for letting me go through the 4-H process and going through all the hauling animals to the fairs and state fairs with my rabbits and cows, well I would do chores just like their other FOUR kids. It was a blast. Well we would be doing chores really eirly in the mornings, and one of my older cousins. Well he Did NOT like to get up. Not a morning person at all you could say.... Well we would find him in the barn ... Sleeping. Lol.
Your sweet girls remind me fondly of my time raising my girls.

Our midi jersey came from a farm that raises and uses their own jersey bulls. She has bred over forty years for calm, gentle bulls. That said she will generally only keep a bull for 18 months to three years before they start to get aggressive and go to freezer camp. Just so you know it's possible.
