Great to learn songo grooves as I feel they impact your coordination and you can start to expand on what each limb is doing I’ll tell you I maybe have spent the past hour or 2 trying to wrap my head around the last one, is this similar to the groove in island magic when the time changes and he plays a songo ? Thanks
When I was taught a songo by a drum instructor he showed one a bit different which is kinda cool basically it’s like the level 3 songo except: The “a” of 2 for both measures is a rim shot instead of a ghost note The “and” of 1 for the first measure is also a rimshot And the “e” and “and” of 1 for the second measure are both ghost notes it’s just a little different but it’s also cool and you can switch it to the ride bell and add the hihat
Indeed there are lots of ways to play this one - in particular as you mentioned the snare rimshot/accent placement varies a lot from drummer to drummer
I think what's tricky about the songo, and other latin beats, is that the bass drum is played on the "+" of 2 and on the 4. That's not easy for a rock drummer like me! I've worked on the songo before, and can play it now, but it took a while. You left out one more version. There needs to be a version 8 that gets the toms going too, similar to version 6.
Wicked! Been playing drums for 10+ years; never heard this style till now
This is some good practice, thanks!
Just found your channel. Instant subscriber! thank you for your work.

Hi there! The sound that we're listening to ... Is it a real drum or computer generated?
Nice!!

Not playing the bass drum on 1 is hard at first. I started as a rock drummer too and it took me ages to get this down 😆
