I know what's the deal with The Rolling Stones. The lyrics to Brown Sugar caused a panic among the woke crowd. Read the lyrics to the song and you'll quickly find out why. They had to remove the song from their set list.
People call it being an elitist metalhead, but I do believe we need gatekeepers. Case in point: the picture of that f****** idiot with the Burzum- t-shirt on. That dude seems pretty slow, I don't think he could understand the concepts that they talk about in metal. All of us that have been metalheads all along have to deal with what we've always loved becoming some sort of f****** trend. It's like the animals in the forest when the dumbass f****** humans encroach on their territory. There were so many people I remember that used to say, "how can you listen to that s***? you can't even understand what they're saying". and now plastic people like the Karcassians are wearing f****** morbid Angel T-shirts. Just like Dead wanted, WE NEED GATEKEEPERS. Were not elitist, we just don't want these f****** idiots meddling in OUR music. I guess we'll just have to know that we've been here a long time, and when they're 15 minutes of fame are gone, we'll still be here. I dig your videos Man. 🤘💀🔥💀🤘
I think they already censored me.😂 Fuck Kanye and all the people turning this into a trend. GATEKEEPERS OF THE REAL SHIT!!🤘💀🔥💀🤘 WHATS UP BORIS FROM NEW MEXICO!

The funniest shit is that Varg is now selling a shirt of Kanye wearing a Burzum shirt on his official website. No, I'm not joking.
To answer your question, Boris, not all rap is like that. Early on, hip-hop and rap used to be very politically motivated and spoke about important issues such as black empowerment, racism and police brutality, and class warfare. Modern rap on the other hand... yeah, it's not great. But there are some great rap groups, such as Public Enemy that have some amazing lyrics.
Exactly this comment.
Idk rap was a prop by the music industry to fill private prisons. 2 pac was a industry plant for that reason! Old rap was high jacked from the beginning 😂 it was meant to corrode what blacks made for themselves before rap, they used to dress nice amd speak properly and play instruments, now its junk style purely materialistic and these artist just steal "beats" from bands now days 😂 shits whack!!

i agree that artists respect artists, and that's a fascinating bridge to cross - were it the artists crossing it. as it stands, this is a man who professed utter heresty to his own stated beliefs now wearing a shirt that is also antithetical to those original beliefs and people somehow think this is profound? it's like when Bill Burr discovered that Meshuggah was a good band. I been listening to Meshuggah since I was in grade 7, I didn't need fucking Bill Burr to tell me these guys were totally unique (at least among their peers) sonically and musically, I could read and write music and figure it out for myself.
Only thing I hate is Kanye West selling burzum t-shirts as his own. Like where's the border of copyrights?
Great point. There is a lot of free publicity for the artist. He is all over the international news and doesn't have to pay anything.

It's obviously bootleg not official.... Neither Ye or Varg gets any cash.

Yes, an intelligent and thoughtful take on this story. Thank you, Boris! Your summary was better than the international news. All platforms, including the one we're using here, have tried to ban this artist without success and he now enjoys international publicity at no cost. Perhaps this will be a lesson to these platform owners that trying to ban ideas, thoughts, music, and art is always on the wrong side of history.

It's good to see people in the Black Metal scene with such good minds and sharing informative content like this. Your videos are awesome man, Hail from Brazil!
I'm from South America and we did something brilliant here in 2020. At the beginning of the year Varg made some extremely unfortunate comments about how much he hated Brazil and even put us on a list of the countries he hated most (we were in fourth place), he even referred to the people of our country with terms related to the grotesque ideology supported by him and mentioned in the video. In retaliation, many people started flooding his Twitter account with naked photos (lol) of a Brazilian football player called Vampeta. We called this epic event "Vampetaço", which ended with Varg closing his social media account for a long period of time.

As someone who’s not a fan of either Burzum or Kanye, this was very entertaining. So good job!
Imo the mainstream culture is starting to slowly cannibalize the black metal/metal/goth aesthetic and that's all there is to it. They are looking for the 'new' old to rehash it with a current twist in an attempt to look different. You can see it in both fast fashion and high end fashion. Rappers wearing outfits that would easily pass on a metal mag cover 20 yrs back etc.. Rick Owens, Balenciaga, Kanye.. Spirals down from there.
I loved Burzum back in 1994, and I still love Burzum in 2024. I don't listen to his old albums much anymore though, I mainly listen to his newer albums and ambient albums like: Hlidskjalf, Umskiptar, The Ways Of Yore, or his double length Thulean Mysteries album. These are great albums, in my opinion. If anyone reading this also like Burzum's ambient albums, then I recommend you listen to the composer of Silent Hill video games, Akira Yamaoka, he is another artist I listen to a lot, his Silent Hill work is hunting, atmospheric, adorned with melancholic catchy melodies..
Aren't Varg and Kanye different sides of the same coin, though? lol

To answer your question about meaningful rap lyrics. There definitely is, it just all depends on the artist. If you listen to mainstream rap, you’ll find mostly what you would expect. Lyrics about drugs, money, guns, etc. Alternative Rap has a lot of better artists in that regard. Hope this (kind of) helps!
Exactly, you need to dig deeper. The same applies to metal if you want to listen something else than Metallica playing on the radio (no shade to the band).
Was just gonna say this. 90's/early 2000's rap before it became very commercialized has more interesting lyrics (Nas, NWA, early Jay Z and Tupac come to mind). Today's rap is mostly garbage, but there's still some good ones.
@@arnezargarian4583 It just depends what you like. I can’t deny that I like some more mainstream stuff, but we all have a right to like what we like. What I don’t like is when people start believing they can recreate the things said in these songs in real life and rap has more of an impact in that field than most unfortunately.
Honestly. You just have to find the meaningful stuff, rap is such an oversaturated market that majority of the talent and potential gets buried under the mainstream. People would rather hear meaningless filler that's easy to listen to than hear something closer to reality built upon raw emotion and real experience. There was a time years ago where the mainstream would showcase what a genre mostly had to offer, but that isn't the case anymore. There's good stuff out there, it's just not in the public eye.
I am one of those people who doesn't know what black metal is and why Kanye is wearing some T shirt. Thanks for the great explainer, subbed to your channel :)
What I want to know is, how did he stumble across Burzum to begin with?
There’s a Gucci Mane song that samples Burzum. First comment is about Varg.
Lots of producers listen to a variety of music. I don’t listen to a lot of other music other than black metal and associates. But, my wife listens to rap and that stuff so I’m somewhat aware… I heard a 3 6 mafia (maybe, prob some other group) song that sampled Cradle.
Either way, point being these producers look for stuff to sample and often delve into metal to find it. They don’t ONLY know rap/hip hop. I’ve seen many interviews of famous artists and you’d be surprised what bands they listen to, find inspiration from, and sample.
To answer your question more directly, he may like burzum, he may like metal. He may have sampled metal in the past and have an excel list of bands and samples and timings he likes.
Just to add cause now I’m curious, Ice T used slayer, public enemy used Black Sabbath, 3 6 mafia used Cradle, lil Wayne used Iron Maiden, trick daddy used crazy train, etc.
He could just be wearing the shirt to be edgy. But, I’d imagine he may just like metal. Dre is known to like Nirvana, Ice T likes Slayer..

The reason Kanye wore that Burzum shirt and was heavyily inspired by it for his merch was because of a rapper Playboi Carti's friend named Burberry Erry who helped style for Kanye and he is a big fan of Burzum he is a fashion dude who has a lot of punk and black metal influences you can tell by his look he has big liberty spikes.

kanye is deeply connected with various underground sub cultures. if anything, travis scott put him on since he's always been into extreme metal. also, bones (teamsesh rapper) was the first rapper, to my knowledge, that wore a burzum shirt. search bones- corduroy music video from 2014. bones has also worn darkthrone amongst other black metal shirts and has done the bm aesthetic on albums, merch, etc. another rapper that has done the black metal thing to death is ghostemane. anyway, black metal is simply metal to a lot of casuals, so its not that big of a deal. its 2024, not the past. internet culture has long shed a light on the obscure.
you're missing the forest for the trees here..is Ghostemane a Hitler apologist? The issue is with Mayhem burning down churches while Kanye professes to be Christian. The issue is with the clash in beliefs that Kanye has and Burzum/Mayhem.
@@caseyjones3522 yes but christianity has many different belief systems. we are all humans. christians live their lives doing good as closely as they can. i have a different idea about the situation because i grew up listening to many christian metal bands who were criticized for not being true christians solely because of the imagery, sound, lyrics, stereotypes, etc. im not going to speak about being an apologist, but everyone has a right to an opinion. we as a society need to stop trying to silence anyone we dont agree with.
|yes but christianity has many different belief systems."@@salinaember9527 No, it doesn't. But people like to twist the Bible's words to fit their own narrative due to it being extremely poorly written and vague.
@@caseyjones3522 explain all the branches of christianity? which one is the "real" one, according to you? because christians dont seem to even agree within themselves, which is why they separate into different groups.
Varg is an interesting character, he even liked some of my comments, his comments are the best 😂
varg and kanye both need a good mood stabilizer.
at least varg actually made good music and has actual talent though.
Basic rappers these days rap about the same stuff but some rappers are true poets MF Doom for example
Kanye West is one of these celebrities who don't care about social values. The only thing that is important for them is self-expression and the profit they can gain from it. But also Varg shows that he is dependent on attention and therefore has nothing to complain about Kanye West's provocation. Because this promotion will grant him more income from his music and he can still be a relevant person of inspiration for admirers like Anders Breivik. Settings like "I separate art from the artist", "I don't care about lyrics" or "I'm not interested in politics" helps radicals like Varg to make their ideas acceptable in society, because there is no resistance against it. Paying homage to his music even enhances him personally. Yes Boris, you are an enlightened person who cannot be influenced by him, but there are a lot of people there, who needs an orientation in life and Varg gives them this orientation. He offers to be a part of a special whole by your ancestry from the old norse folk. It is your mission to cleanse your folk from strangers and their influences and as you are superior to others, you have the right to suppress or destroy them. This National Socialist ideology leads to ethnic conflicts and what it means in practice you as someone who comes from the former Yugoslavia should know.
"jpegmafia [shakes head]... amazing" 😂
I love rap and black metal (I don't like Kanye though). It's possible to like both and be from the "hood". I love your videos
Sounds like an average death grips fan
Kanye is the goat of hip hop stop talking
This is the one time I wish Varg was still on RUclips
my fav youtubeeeer

Your conclusion is very well thought out! Great video, I agree with you 100%
I dont understand the Latinamericans being big fans of Varg and yes not only liking Burzum but liking him literally
Exactly I like the guy I don’t agree with most stuff his done or said but his just so funny and interesting.
I like Burzum and even Varg the same way I like cosmic horror and Lovecraft himself. Sure, both artists aren't particularly fond of me being a little frijoleto 👉👈, yet I can't help but just be fascinated by both men. Varg I predominantly just find funny, and Lovecraft I can't help but feel like kindred spirits after reading so much about him.
Idk, maybe I'm just too interested in the art and the creative aspects of the artists to worry about their views on my ancestry, or maybe I just find being called a spic funni.
Ofc Varg would make such a statement. He don’t want to get all Kanye fans go against him, also such a celebrity wearing nursing short means publicity and Varg took advantage of it by showing the cover of his new book while posting about Kanye.
Kanye is so fucking based
I find myself confused as well. I'm an Orthodox Christian who always wears all black, listens to Burzum (and some other Black Metal bands), and I was raised on Marilyn Manson. I'm also originally from Belarus, many of my Slavic relatives were killed by Nazis during WWII, my Jewish great-grandfather fought for the Red Army, made it all the way to Berlin, yet, I've always had a thing for Nazi imagery. So I sort of get Kayne, _sort of._
wtf
You underestimate Kanye and his knowledge. He knows more about a wide range of art forms and cultural events than he reveals publicly. He is incredibly based.
Varg is also the biggest "Boney. M" fan. I'm not shocked he said what he said about artists drawing inspiration from other artists. Fairly certain Boney. M is who got Varg interested in keyboards and synthesizers as well. But no one would claim that Boney. M is "Nazi" just because Varg enjoys them. As you said Boris, people enjoy music. I enjoy everything from Abruptum to Muddy Waters to Kanye, to The Arkells. Music is music people!
Rap music isn't just "guns, money and women" as you seem to think. You're kinda doing to Rap music what people do to Metal constantly, dismissing it and being completely ill informed about it. You're a fan of Black Metal, and the sub genre of Rap, Horrorcore, has similar dark/disturbing themes. People who have no idea what they are talking about don't even know what Horrorcore is.
What like insane clown posse and necro? Not the same as black metal in the slightest.
Horrorcore and black metal are very different things. They may look the same but they very much are not. Even the themes are pretty different between the two
Kanye’s favorite black metal band is Body Count.
@@C23-n5cI never said they were the same thing 😂 I said horrorcore covers dark and disturbing topics.
Rap is not even music
