In the books he spends nearly a whole year stuck there, the entire war is barely 2 years long.

I'm just annoyed at the notion that aegon and stormcloud are this young. In the books they're 10. This could be just another adaptation that really doesn't matter, like larys' foot fetish, but he's supposed to flee for his life on that tiny dragon.

I don't get this change at all, Jace in the book specifically came up with the idea of recruiting dragonseeds, not noblemen. SPOILER but he was literally the one who convinced Rhaenyra to legitimise them as his half brothers
Velaryons have Targaryen blood. Alyssa Velaryon, the mother of Jaehaerys and Alysanne, was part Targaryen herself
So Alyn and Addam have dragonblood…At least in the book. In the show anything is fair game I guess

That big dragon at the end is Vermithor? Isn’t it the dragon we see briefly in season 1 in the caves? Looks like he is the biggest of the Black dragons we’ve seen, and is only rivaled by Vhagar.

They did. They're excluding everything that could be controversial about Rhaenyra, such as her treatment of Nettles, trying to make her a classic heroine. They're only succeeding in make her bland, but that's my opinion.

To the people complaining about nothing happening: if you read the book this is essentially what was happening at this stage in the war. All the big battles start happening after the battle of the gullet which considering the Gay Abandon got mentioned this episode, will probably be in the finale. Therefore season 3 is likely to pick up.
Yeah. This season is definitely on the slow side, but this is how it went in the books, and they’re obviously laying the groundwork for things to come. It’s just faster to do that in written word than for television. Plus, its giving actual length of time to pass, which allows the younger dragons to get as big as they need to be for what happens later in the Dance, since these guys don’t seem to be growing at the insanely fast rates Dany’s dragons did.
@@anjelica948Dany dragons were hatched by blood magic. Her and her dragons are exceptional, with Dany being in only Targaryen who is fire proof and her dragons growth massive within years. Drogon was the size of Meleys if not bigger in season 8

It is so weird that they've decided they are going to include Daeron after all. Never seen him or heard of him in the show, turns out the Hightower-Targaryens just have a spare they don't talk about. Dawn Targaryen, totally always been there, definitely not a key that just materialized
There mentioned once or twice, 3 at a stretch, it makes sense to include him he has his moments and also I like the emphasis to his upbringing being very different to the others which will be a fun contrast to see, I for one am quite excited.
I mean he’s not around in the book either… might as well save the budget and not include him or Oldtown just yet.

If i was the director i would have had Damon absent from all the episodes to make room for more important scenes. Then combine all his weird trips into 1 long episode just on him right before the episode he finally comes back and joins the blacks. It would be easy to mention his progress in dialogue from other characters, and during his episode we could assess the time jumps based on news from ravens regarding events from previous episodes

Dude when Daemon was crying after he got the news that old lord Tully died,ngl that hit me hella hard.
When he first came to Harrenhal he said that the lords of the Riverlands should respect their liege even if he is weak and frail,but then after he tells his grandson to just put a pillow on his face so he can become the next lord.
It's a perfect parallel for his feelings about Viserys,he respected him but he always thought he was weak and that he would have been better suited to be king.
Now he realizes that even though he wasn't there when Viserys needed him,his brother still loved him regardless. 😢

Also don't listen to the people saying the events of the Dance are unreliable, the majority of them haven't read the books and are just repeating what they've heard other people who haven't read the books. Fire and Blood is a historical book written from multiple sources, who agree on the majority of the events. They just have different perspective as is common in history books.

The Daemon plot is good, the entire point is the testing of his patience and him having to reflect on himself as Harrenhal drives him mad in the process. It’s also his plot in the books as he has to wait for all the Riverlands bullshit.

Rhaenyra will fly off to harrenhal to finally meet with Daemon. btw this is the same episode when Alicent tries to drown herself Cole will come & rescue her. Daemon Arc at harrenhal will finally be done Daemon & Rhaenyra will fly to KL to attack with their Dragon Riders.

My guess with Daemon is that they didn’t actually have much time to film with Matt Smith. He was probably involved in some other project and so they filmed all his scene quite quickly since it’s always the same setting.

Not liking the look of Jace's character assassination here. In the book it was Jace's idea to recruit the dragonseeds, not just noblemen with Targaryen blood. Jace was the one arguing for Addam and Alyn to be legitimized as his half-brothers (letting Corlys claim them as his grandchildren instead of admitting to his own infidelity). In the book they were literally the same age as Luke, the little brother he lost. The whole point was that his experiences as a rumoured bastard shaped his meritocratic values. The show could have explored that and explored his grief at losing his little brother, but nope lets watch Daemon tripping for an entire season.

@@Muten1988 What I meant is, she wanted to serve in a different way, than the typically political tool royal and noble women were used as, to just be handed off to marry someone else. Taken out of real life history. She believed she had proven herself to be more than a bargaining chip and wanted to serve in accordance with what she could do. If I had been in her place I would have done the same. The practise of arranged marriages for the sake of alliances were outright disgusting.
@@christinaj.jensen4805 The writters probably agree with that sentiment. Personally it takes me out of a show when characters start behaving like they don't belong, e.g me inserting myself in that world. But so far, I can racionalize it as her just not being fit for duty anymore.

I was thinking what if Rhaena wanting to prove herself without the association of the Targaryen name paints her hair brown and goes by Nettles?
You know to mesh the two plotlines better... Does that sound outrageously stupid?
I think combining Nettles storyline from the books with Rheana makes sense in that she wants to do something and Nettles was like or may have been a daughter to Daemond. Rheana getting a dragon would finally give her charactor the validation she's always wanted and simplify the story for tv views vs book viewers. TV viewers have to have things simplified as annoying as it is for book readers it's just the way it works.
The question I have on my mind is this, what will Lord Oscar Tully do now that he is in charge? He will have to step up to the plate. Ready or not he has to take charge now.

Targareyan had dragons why haven’t they ever tried conquering essos or mereen or anything other than Westeros
Is the land of Westeros that much richer in minerals or whatever shit it has underneath
Well initially the Targaryens flew to Westeros (or Dragonstone really) to avoid the Doom of Valyria. And idk when Aegon the Conqueror started to have his prophetic dreams, but that was why he set out to unite Westeros at all. Up until then, I think the Targaryens and their dragons had just been chilling at Dragonstone. Maybe Aegon figured that either conquering Westeros would be enough on its own to stop the Others, Or, he didn’t have the resources to conquer Westeros and Then turn around and try to conquer the Free Cities, which are extremely wealthy both in coin and food, which is why they can all have large standing armies.
Plus, the further east you go in Essos, the more dangerous it becomes. Virulent diseases, dangerous beasts, dark magic, cursed humanoids, and corrupting blood magic. It doesn’t seem worth the effort it would take. Even Dany, with a large well trained army and three dragons (small dragons but dragons nonetheless), struggled to control the cities she conquered. Plus, Essos is much more familiar with the concept of dragons, and what weapons work well against them.
