I think they just documented what is reported which can be victims hallucinations or madeup and that he maybe following vampire traditions and live like them and claims to be a real vampire, that's all. Vampires ARE real, but not in a sense in which most people think. If you look at it as a metaphor for people who feed on other people's energy (for which a symbol would be human blood) - those people are in a somewhat way a vampire.
You know ,the type of people who after you spend time with you feel drained and used up.
I think most of the "magical creatures" like vampires, werewolves, fairies and goblins are a subconscious archetype of a certain kind of person... like a metaphor. Looking at all of that literally is just dumb.

Vampires are real. They are not addicted to drinking blood, but some ppl actually have enhanced hear in, sight and other senses which constantly drain energy faster than a normal human, making them hungry more often than normal ppl. No I'm not talking about fat obese ppl, fat ppl just eat to much or don't tend to move.
Real vampires tend to blend in with everyone else fairly well, other than their slight oddities. Many vampires don't even realize they're vampires, yet.
