Swapped out the chrome 5 litre tank for a 10 litre Honda XR250 tank. A much better arrangement which allows me to repurpose the jerry can for water (a new, clean one of course). My projects are always a process of discovery, bumbling and surprises.

Cool, love the door stoppers. I wish we had a government surplus of these bikes in the US, but they're worth several thousand. For that price, you can get alot of bigger bikes. I still like seeing Aussie projects on these cool little bikes.

Thanks for your comment, mate. Much appreciated. Here in Oz, we can pick up a bike in decent shape for about $2,500 (Australian). Really cheap. Mine cost me $3,400 but I know now that I overpaid...still a really inexpensive buy.

Brilliant job! Love that idea. I am buying two decent CT90s for US$1100 each, and looking forward to modding them.

Thanks for your comment, Tom. They're fantastic little machines. Good Luck.

I know you posted this video ages ago but if you fill any polypropylene fuel tank with boiling water and gently pressurise it through the cap vent (a bicycle valve in a rubber pipe will work) you can blow the tank outwards and, once the water cools, it will take another litre or so additional fuel. Just make sure that you do it whilst it’s mounted on the bike otherwise you may struggle to get it to line up afterwards. 👍

Interesting idea that. Would have been worth a try. I'll keep it in mind for my next big adventure 😂. Thanks for your comment.

Your bike is kitted out rather nicely. Awesome installation on the upgrade of the upgraded 2nd fuel tank. I must have missed what happened to the Ignition switch location now. I'm looking at spending $2800 for a 1986 CT 110. It is isalways garage kept and only has 2836 miles original owner. It's like a time capsule. He is gonna keep riding it till I give him the money. Happy trails, Edward in Irvine California.

I relocated the ignition switch to the speedo bracket. Just needed to drill out a 20mm (or so) hole and re-route the wiring a little. Easy job and a great spot for the ignition switch. I much prefer it to the original location on the down-tube. Check out my video: ruclips.net/video/8eiWPRN29Qs/видео.html
Sounds like you've got yourself a great deal on a bike that's in great nick and only has 3000 miles on it. Good luck mate.

Hey mate, great job.. I see a bit of black pipe that the rear of the tank is sitting on.. what is that and how did you attach it?

I used a length of steel strapping secured to the tank on top (there's a M4 or M5 threaded insert on the top-rear of the tank) and ran that underneath to a hose clamp around the downtube. That pulled the back of the tank securely against some pool noodle material I had packed between the tank and the bike's frame. The black bit you referenced is just a short length of garden hosepipe I ran the strapping through to prevent it cutting into and wearing away the tank plastic.

Hey mate, I don't mean to sound like an idiot but how does the fuel get from the lower side of the tank over to the other side where the fuel tap is, the reason I ask is I'm thinking of doing much the same sort of thing some time this year. Not to go traveling but I live in the Great dividing range and just would like to ride around the mountains on a bike, not just a bike but a classic postie bike, it just looks like it would be a great fun thing to do. you have to shake it over there, ever seen a guy violently flinging his side to side, that's what they're doing, not ideal.

I think it would have been better to put an adapter on the new tank to keep the old fuel line. Keeping a spare tube of that diameter also takes up far less space. In the event that you need to replace the tank, you can get someone to mail the old tank to you wherever you are and it will be ready to plumb.
First time watching, and I have to honestly say I'm not a fan of the rear rack mods on the bike. Too messy. And that tube sticking out the sides is just so weird.

I'm sure there would have been many better or other ways to tackle these jobs. However, everything performed as I needed...all the way around. My mods were purely about function and minimising added weight. The bike was never going to be entered into a beauty pageant mate. Thanks for your feedback.
