RUBY!!! You amaze me. I really love and admire that you share both the highs and lows - you deserve to celebrate such INCREDIBLE results. And an 80!? Woah! I can't wait to see you on Wednesday ☺️ xxx
Ahh Jade! Thank you so much! This means a lot to me :) And yes, the PERFECT way to celebrate would be seeing you on Wednesday, and working on something very exciting! xxx
I actually dropped out of college because of finances, my depression got really bad, and because i just couldn't find a success plan for myself. Lesson learned. I was both working too much and sleeping much less then I normally do and doing way too much when my emotional state was just down the toilet.
Exact same thing happened to me so I went and travelled and worked a lot instead. Now I'm 28 and back at University and in a much better financial and stable place in my life. It's never too late xx
I almost dropped out of college cause of severe depression and suicide thoughts in my first year, but I got through it and now, after a year and a half things are so much better, I'm passing my exams with good grades and everything seems more clear. Just taking smaller steps, not thinking too much in future and caring about other things other than studying is the lesson I learned.
I graduated from Uni in july with a degree in politics. Now, although im not as intelligent as yourself and didnt put in half the effort I should have, I have this advice for you. Enjoy first year. Results do not matter even a fraction as much as you think. Stop stressing yourself out. They arent crucial, if you do bad you do bad, passing is all that really matters.
Init. I'm in first year undergrad and honestly as long as I get the work done and pass I don't give a flying fuck. Only care when you need to care is my motto lmao.
Ruby, could you please make this a video you consistently make when you get exam results? I really enjoy this as it keeps me motivated and I really love watching videos like these!
I totally agree with the point that u shouldn’t revise until the last second . If u hv revised enough before , then you are just putting stress on yourself . Ruby, congratulations with your wonderful grades , I will definitely watch your channel in later days ( sorry for my English , it’s not my mother language XD)
glitter cake something I’ve only learnt now I’m at university. I used to do ridiculously long hours. Now I do maybe 15 hours in a week. I try to base my success on how much I get done, not how long I work for x
Congratulations! I recently got my first essay grade back for my master’s at Cambridge. I was SO nervous to find out! I got a 72, which is the pass mark for a PhD continuation and I am ecstatic! I’m very happy with it as it’s a high enough grade that I’m proud of it, but “low” enough that I know I can work to improve in other assessments. Hard work pays off ☺️
Is it weird that my stomach started churning out of anticipation for Ruby while she was scrolling through to her grades? I'm WAY too invested in this channel!
Congratulations,Ruby! It is so amazing to see how hard you worked to get those grades. You are really inspirational to all of us! Wish you very best for upcoming exams!
Hi Ruby! Can you explain how the grading system works at your university? I am from the US so ours is on an A-F scale and I have no clue how yours compares haha
1st = A (70% +) , 2:1= B (60%), 2:2= C (50%), 3rd= D (40%). First year for most degrees doesn't count anyways towards the whole degree. The aim for first year is just to pass tbh
Henry Steves Those percentages are really low, but they might mean something different than in the U.S. If those are math grades, does that mean you only have to get 70% of the problems correct to get an A? Here, an A would be 90%, and 60% is basically failing, unless the professor grades on a curve.
trylikeafool trylikeafool it’s like that at A-level here. But yeah at uni it’s like that. The questions are crazy hard. Also to get a 90 % here (in humanities anyways) you need to ‘add something new to the field’. It’s essentially impossible to get a 90% in your first year. People do. But it’s crazy effort for something that doesn’t matter if you get 50 or 80
I just want to say thank you ruby! Your videos helped me so much! Normally my averaged was 96 and i went to a new school and everyone was way better then me , it was a bit discouraging since i really wanted straight A ! And i started watching your videos and you influenced me so much! Now my first semesters is finished and i scored 98.33 ! I couldnt believe me eyes💖💖 my next goal is 100 ! . Thank you ruby 💖🌹
Well Done Ruby! You have tried your best which is a great inspiration for your viewers and thank you for being so honest about grades and life if it is going good or bad.
It's practically impossible to get over 80% in the humanities. I am averaging a First in my 3rd year (English lit) and I haven't gone over 75% on an essay and 80% on other work, and on those occasions the lecturers told me mine was one of the best essays, so you should be really proud! Also, my marks went up from 62% to 70% in second year, most people do better once they have gotten comfortable with academic writing.
I know what you mean about getting over 80, seems a bit silly that they basically make it impossible. I’ve only got 2 80+s and I’ve written many essays at uni lol
Congrats Ruby!! I’m so glad you are happy with them 😄Your results are so good 😊I’m getting my result from prelims in 2 days so seeing you be positive about your results really help!
congrats. i've been seeing you for the past 2 years and im really happy to see your 1st sem grades. im a final year physics student and believe me u'll do great
80 is amazing for one of your first exams, well done!! :) I'm half way through my second year and I am happy as long as I get a 2:1 in some shape or form haha. Just keep working hard

Fantastic results, Ruby! You should be really proud of yourself - I know we all are here in this comments section! Well done for documenting your growth - I think it's really valuable to showcase that on your platform. And I know marks in first year don't count towards your final grade but I personally found it really paid off to put in extra work in first year as it gave me a good foundation for second and final year. So yeah, congratulations again; time to celebrate! ☺️

I’m American and the British grading system and school system in general fascinates me. It’s very different then American and Canadian education. It’s interesting to see people in the comments talking about how hard humanities degrees are when in the US, much of the focus is on STEM and business (however that’s changing) because of the job market. (I have a masters in the US). Plus, college in the US is insanely expensive and many people my age don’t want to go into debt to get a ~worthless~ degree. STEM degrees are valued over humanities here in the UK too, or at least they have a higher average starting salary after graduation. I'm a 3rd year Maths student at uni in the UK and although I have had a few really high grades (got 100% in one exam in first year amazingly), getting a first is challenging and I have friends who have failed certain modules. People might be more willing to do humanities here because our student loan system isn't too bad - essentially the government loans you tuition and some living costs and then only if you earn £25k/year or more after graduating do they take a certain percentage of repayments out of your salary, just like paying a bit more tax, until it's paid off or they write it off after 30 years.
I think STEM is more valued pretty much everywhere. I am in my first year of biomedical engineering but in Belgium it is relatively cheap to go to uni (tuition without financial aid is like around €900) And unless you want to go into a very specific field of work, like doctor or a biomedical engineer (me hopefully haha) it doesn’t really matter what you study at uni, most jobs are just looking for you to have a bachelors or mastered degree.

Hey Ruby! Can you maybe do a video where you explain the british Uni system and marks? it's not like that in the other countries in Europe and I am really confused. You get rated in percent?? Not points or marks?
Ok so it’s a percentage system and 40% is a pass 41-49% is a 3rd, 50-59 is 2:2, 60-69% is 2:1, 70+ is first class honours. It’s extremely difficult to get an 80% - this usually means your work is at research level or it can be published etc. Sometime however, one assessment may be divided into several assessments and you might get like an 80 for something which was very easy and not an entire essay - this could boost your overall mark. Basically everyone aims for 70, anything over is cool but not needed unless you failed terribly in another assessment and want to bring it up overall.
I really wanted a first but I wasn’t strong enough to fight my depression and just tried my best for a 2:1 and have graduated last summer so I’m thankful I made it out of uni lol. Congrats on the results!
i am soooo proud of you! i'm currently in exam season and today and had 3 exams one of whch i am VERY disappointed of because I didn't pay anough attention to the paper and I did badly at this part of the exam. The worst part is that I tend to do great at this subject and if I had only paid more attention to it I would probably had gotten a full mark! :(
In the final exam of my Master's I couldn't achieve much partly due to my lack of preparation and also because the examiner wasn't fair in one test. Although it was distressing, I made up my mind and now working on my project.
For people asking about UK grading! 70%+ = First 60-69% = 2:1 50-59% + 2:2 40-50% = Third 40 or less = fail In first year you just have to pass (get over 40% overall), and then your remaining years are split to contribute to your graded degree
I just got 73% for an essay I *really* wasn't feeling great about. It's actually apparently one of the best essays for that assignment round according to my tutor so I was incredibly shocked to hear I actually passed it after I was almost totally sure I'd fail!
Congrats Ruby. A first class in first year is AMAZING. A smart and hard working student like you deserves it. ❤ Where I live, 60% is first class since they're VERY strict and stingy when it comes to marking. Apparently, accprding to the teachers, they dont give full marks either so 🙃 But in 2nd year, I got 66% (a high first class) although in 1st I got 50%. This year I'm going to get even more somehow or the other!
RUBY!!! You amaze me. I really love and admire that you share both the highs and lows - you deserve to celebrate such INCREDIBLE results. And an 80!? Woah!

In the final exam of my Master's I couldn't achieve much partly due to my lack of preparation and also because the examiner wasn't fair in one test. Although it was distressing, I made up my mind and now working on my project.
For people asking about UK grading!
70%+ = First
60-69% = 2:1
50-59% + 2:2
40-50% = Third
40 or less = fail
In first year you just have to pass (get over 40% overall), and then your remaining years are split to contribute to your graded degree
*Anyone else obsessed with Ruby??*

Your channel is actually good!

That´s really great, congratulations
I just got 73% for an essay I *really* wasn't feeling great about. It's actually apparently one of the best essays for that assignment round according to my tutor so I was incredibly shocked to hear I actually passed it after I was almost totally sure I'd fail!
congratulations! you deserve it
It will get better!!! I trust and know this is going to happen !!😘
My grades are bad mine are like 3
You're amazing Ruby!
You’ve got this Ruby!!!
Your feelings are all great and productive .so i will follow your great reaction as a part of my courage
Congrats Ruby. A first class in first year is AMAZING. A smart and hard working student like you deserves it. ❤
Where I live, 60% is first class since they're VERY strict and stingy when it comes to marking. Apparently, accprding to the teachers, they dont give full marks either so 🙃 But in 2nd year, I got 66% (a high first class) although in 1st I got 50%. This year I'm going to get even more somehow or the other!
80% is amazing! Congratulations ☺
