***** yes I do, small brain fart right there haha....what I should have said is we are going to be a team to watch this year and wouldn't be surprised to receive a major bowl bid
***** there are still BCS bowl games (though not called bcs) . But there are fewer ones because some are used for the playoff. With fewer big name bowls the American conference doesn't get an automatic bid. They have to be the best out of the big 5 conferences. So out of five conferences UH has to be number one if they want to play at a major bowl game!
Steven Hiller Quite right but there is still the committee that decides things. I don't think a perfect record would even grant UH a playoff bid anymore for multiple reasons: 1) There is a heavy anti-AAC bias (especially now that Rutgers and Liousville are gone); 2) Strength of schedule is not in UH's favor for comparative purposes; 3) There is a heavy bias against UH in polls. Unless UH gets picked up by a Big 5 conference, it will be stuck in perpetual mediocrity and that isn't even likely to happen. UH brings almost nothing to the table since it has almost no market and its academics aren't that great. I love my university, but I won't kid myself. Outlook is horrifically bleak.
Hmm that might be so. I believe that out of the five conferences that UH is competing in against for a big bowl game they actually might be able to come out on top though. If they can go undefeated in conference play and somehow beat UCF, BYU, and Cinncinatti, then compared to the other conferences they have to compete against I believe they have a strong chance in being in one of the former BCS bowl games (that arent being used in the playoff this year.) I never said they would be in a playoff game though. If we had won the conference championship when Keenum was still around we still wouldnt have gone that high in the rankings. Odds are just not in our favor. I still think that the playoff is not even close to making the NCAA Div 1 Fair. I think what is fair is a face off between all conference champs. But that is just my opinion. Looking at UCF last year beating Baylor anything seems possible to me.
I've watched this 20 times at least by now. I'll probably watch it 20 more times at least before the season starts.
I cant get enough of this video. Go Coogs! Football season cannot get here soon enough!
Same here man. I can't wait to see what coach Herman has done to our team.

Any highlights anywhere of the 1971 season? The Cougars made it to the Bluebonnet Bowl that year, but lost to the Colorado Buffaloes.
