I wish people would stop complaining about the price first the reason it is so expensive is just simple supply and demand HPI racing will not sell that many of these to the general public. The second reason is this is an advanced piece of machinery with all the work and design that went into it I think $1,200.00 is not an unreasonable price.
i have talked with hpi and they are really thinking about making the 5t 4x4, i didnt ask about any transmission upgrades but they said when hpi knows about if 4x4 is a go then we will know
@JoeriBE Hi thier My 5t will start on first pull when its warm when your starting cold you put the choke lever down and pull a couple times till the engine trys to fire then pull the choke up and it will start it a coupe of pulls, a tank lasts me around 40 minuites.
Not everything is only about speed. If you wan't to go fast, you'll need to go on-road. Often, people prefer a car that has 'a feel' to it, it has weight and size and therefor, you really feel like you're driving something. Together with the low sound of a 26cc engine and the raw power that's pumping out of it, it's a lot more fun than a 1:10 with a high rpm engine that goes 55 mph and bumps off every little bump.
What would this car be like for me I'm new in petrol cars never owned one and never drove one. From what I've been told its really maintenance free unlike the nitro. Love the idea how it's 2 stroke cheap in fuel just go to the servo full up a can then add the 2 stroke oil and your done brilliant
Now that's something I can agree with! I have definitely noticed that my 1/8 scale is stronger and breaks less easily than my 1/10. On the 1/10 I've had to replace all kinds of parts with metal ones. Not nearly as much on the 1/8. And so the 1/5 Baja with it's mostly metal parts and only going about 40mph should never break. I guess when you get to that point, it's a personal choice thing. I broke my axle the other day from too much torque, so I'm replacing it with steel axles.
in uk they are 1099.99 pound if you want a truck to have some fun with get a 3.3 rtr savage truck second hand for about 150 pound well worth it so much fun i have one and have upgrades all over it it now running a 5.9 engine with 3 speed box extended axles so much fun you cant imagine
@skypark187 Like PBboya3 said if you think about what's needed to make the rtr 5t it makes sense. You have your radio, servos and receiver. Those would cost a minimum of $200 at HS. Then you have the engine which sells for I believe $470. If you think about all the parts and how tough (and HUGE) they are compared to other rc's it makes sense. But yes, im sure we ALL agree that 200 for a clear body is ridicolous.
hey great video i have a really quick question for anyone who can answer i am buying an hpi baja 5t this november(dont ask why in november) and for the break in tank what should i do run it at a low speed or really fast jumps no jumps if anyone can answer it would help me a ton thanks!!
Yeah these way better to me than those smaller trucks, the look, feel and sound, more grown up they better off-road capabilities, they are tougher as well as cheaper to run although more expensive to buy etc, plus these gas vehicles getting really fast now to top it all off. With a few minor mods and tweaking these things can move. ^^
No, but if I tried to drive any 1/5 scale vehicle with a top speed of 40mph, it wouldn't be as fun for me. Yeah, the sound is nice from the Baja's, and they're built really well, but I can't get over the speed limit. I had my 1/8th scale 4x4 out today and people were there freaking out. If there was a Baja driving there with me, everyone would laugh as I passed it by. My E-Revo Brushless is a BLAST to drive. It has a great feel to it. Trust me. I only wish I knew someone near me with a Baja.
Yeah, I know. But, there seems to be a good balance of plastic/metal that makes my 1/10 much less breakable. You don't want too many metal parts, because then it's just too heavy. When you get to the 1/5 scale, like the Baja, then I think it's ok to have mostly metal.
No I have not driven one. No one around here has one that I know of. :| Would love to bash with one. But trust me, the smaller the vehicle, the faster it looks. It's all about perceived speed. Ask anyone.
planning to buy this one....could anyone tell me how the starting goes, does is need endless janking? always had nitro but i'm so tired of janking the life out of it before it starts and then driving 5min before refueling again....
@Adamoss1313 really!? i think its very expensive (high) quality... it was so close that i bought a hpi brama 10b, but bsd was much more for the same price. for instance, the bsd could drive 20 km/h faster, and it came with 2.4 ghz. so the bsd is better (i think). but im still a fan of hpi :)
Look Both rc's and dirtbikes are fun, I agree with you on that. I ride an 07 yz125 myself, but both rc's and dirtbikes are money pits. And fun in their own ways.
@noon1411 hpi doesn't make the e revo do they? Its not everyday i get to use the e revos unique 6+ inches are articulation but it does sometimes come in handy. And the only structural part i have ever broken in a year is one turnbuckle rod end. its the best jack of all trades i know of in rcing. my traxxas 2wd slash never stayed on all 4's ever . if i were to buy an rc right now it would be a savage flux. Big ass 1/8th 4wd bl monster for under 500. no contest with a erbe being 50 million$
Hey can this truck withstand a hit? Like running into a curb? What kind of restructuring adjustments can be made? Like adding aluminum parts? My brother has a Traxxes ? Max and he can't get it working quite properly if it has a major collision. My brother is 18Trucks and we're planning on putting a video of his truck out in awhile. Sub him thanks pplz!
Well, I work.. I doubt I would buy one anyways as I prefer Nitro. Why are you being hateful? Theres so many people on youtube like this and if i'm honest they need to get a life. For God's sake it's a comment page for the vid not a 'haha that sucks i hate bajas'. The comments are for the video it's self :/
No, I can see it in the videos, AND it's common sense. Think about it. You ever see a cockroach run? They look super fast, right? But if your 1/5 scale was going the same speed, it wouldn't look so fast. A 1/18th scale going 40mph is going to *look* faster than a 1/10th at 40mpg just because of relative scale. Look at some of the Baja videos on here and people will say they look slow. It's because of their size. But you can think what you want. If someone else wants to chime in, please do.
When i was running in my Fg baja i where using low throttle. not more than over half throttle is best. It only takes two tanks of break in. at the second half tank you can use more throttle but never use full throttle during these two runs.
so strong kevin...
i am 16 and i only just manage to lift my 1/10th scale off of a table that high .
i admire you
Nice!!! Great work guys - thanks for making an awesome showcase for the Baja 5T!
Looks like a bucketload of fun. Very temtped, Now the choice is either black or white 5t or 5b 2.0?
man those things are awesome!
i always wanted one but their so expensive!!
how much will it be for one of this?
WOW cant wait to get the conversion kit for my BAJA 5B
HPI rules !!!

dear santa.....
Great video Kevin. The 5T rules. Be sure to install a remote kill switch on any gas RC
i have talked with hpi and they are really thinking about making the 5t 4x4, i didnt ask about any transmission upgrades but they said when hpi knows about if 4x4 is a go then we will know

good job, nice movie and tricks with baja
Awesome truck, Awesome vid.!!!
that thing looks extremely stable more stable then the traxxas slayer
@ninja4003D is your traxxas 30 pounds.does it have a huge motor either. the thing is also huge

Did this Baja come fully filled with oil as a stock rtr truck?
Wow that was hot,do you think there will ever be a 4WD???????
Nice, think I'll get myself a Baha.
hey great video

hi i am about to get a baja but dont know which one is better out the baja 5b ss and the baja 5t and can you please tell me what is faster ty
I love hpı baja 5t

@mememojo isn't is? the 5b 2.0 is 2wd
@1977soulfly why not the 5b 2.0 with 2,4 ghz?

that is my dream car for when i grow up (i am 11 wears old) or a baja 5b
No I have not driven one. No one around here has one that I know of. :| Would love to bash with one. But trust me, the smaller the vehicle, the faster it looks. It's all about perceived speed. Ask anyone.
Shame I can't hear the truck. Don't understand why there is "music"
@mememojo Yes! you bet! A 4 x 4 would be great fun! These trucks are also pretty tough! A bit tougher than the 5B
@Madmann135 I completely agree. Hearing the engine would be much more true to the actual experience of driving these trucks
basically a monster size traxxas slash
do the front lights work?
planning to buy this one....could anyone tell me how the starting goes, does is need endless janking?
always had nitro but i'm so tired of janking the life out of it before it starts and then driving 5min before refueling again....

I agree with what madmann 135. when you are reviewing something, dont put on music because the sound of the engine is very important.

Good driving i like videos with good drivers

@Adamoss1313 really!? i think its very expensive (high) quality... it was so close that i bought a hpi brama 10b, but bsd was much more for the same price. for instance, the bsd could drive 20 km/h faster, and it came with 2.4 ghz. so the bsd is better (i think). but im still a fan of hpi :)

They look super fast, right? is it gas or nirto
@Shabbernigdo 4x4 is pretty much yaeh I have a 4x4 truggy 1:8.. but a 2wd is more for showing.. drifting, stunting... stuff like that.
this car is funier
@TheHoHo2144 the baja 5t cost $1,079
@haydenjay3 I agree with Sweetdart69... you should check out traxxas e revo or traxxas slash.
I hope I helped!
@Madmann135 agreed !
When i was running in my Fg baja i where using low throttle. not more than over half throttle is best. It only takes two tanks of break in. at the second half tank you can use more throttle but never use full throttle during these two runs.
Good enough. A 1.8L Civic is "good enough", but when you want speed, you get a Mustang GT or the new Camaro.
