    Maurice was a fabulous player and I remember him when he was with the BBC Northern - incredible playing for Kurt Masur in Shostakovitch 1. A no nonsense player who must've been sorely tested by the Celibidache rehearsals..............

    The brass band world produced many of the finest musicians.
    Maurice was probably the best.

    I was absolutely OBSESSED with the LSO when I was young because they did the Star Wars music. Anything Star Wars. All the greats are passing, its so sad. He had the best sound !!

    He was a swashbuckler of a musician. Incomparable trumpet player.
