Hi there. Congratulations on the new district. Only suggestion I would make is to placed your stadium book cabinet in the front of your room under the white board. Move the bookcase to match the other book case and move the black cubby shelving unit next to the white one. This way you would still have space for your math manipulatives. Can’t wait to see how it goes.

I would keep both stadium shelves and create a squared off library with both shelves facing each other. Move the black cube shelf by the white one in front and move the wood bookshelf in back. I always love having little cubical style areas in the classroom. Put your rug down with some pillows for a fun library but definitely dont get rid of the stadium shelf. You could also keep it on your window seal to display star student work.

When you say squared off you mean they are touching in an L? I am just trying to figure out what that all would look like because it sounds intriguing. What would those wooden shelves in the back be used for? Books as well? Where would the stadium book shelves go? Sorry for all the questions, I really think you’re onto something

@@kindergartenall-stars6921so I would place the 2 wood shelves against the wall and touching the vent. Then take the stadium shelves and put them at facing each other create a U-shape or a open sided square. You would place the rug in the center with pillows. Your student hook area would then also be closed off more. Does that make sense?

Congrats on your new district! Not having to commute a long distance is amazing! I drive about 45 minutes one way, through Los Angeles traffic.

Maybe use the other stadium bookcase up front for whole group teaching supplies. For your library, could you turn one of the bookcases so that it’s back is towards the coat hooks?

Congrats on your new position in your dream district! You're classroom does have lots of storage. I would keep the piece of furniture that looks like a mailbox for sorting construction paper and/or lined paper. You could use the remaining book shelf for read alouds or curriculum books in the front of the classroom somewhere? Just a thought!

I love the construction paper sorting idea! I already have a stadium style bookshelf for those read alouds that I was thinking about moving to the front of the room. Not sure what to do with a second stadium style bookshelf

I love having my stadium bookshelf under my whiteboard where I teach whole group. When I'm done with a read aloud, I pop it in that bookshelf and the kids know to find seasonal books and read aloud there. They love laying on the carpet with those books. Try that, see how you like it!

I would keep the bookshelf with the red book boxes where it is, then use both stadium shelves, with them facing each other and the small rug in the middle. If you shampoo the rug it'll be fine even if some furniture covers part of it, such as one of your shelves which could have the blocks or floor puzzles on it so the kids have place to sit and play with those. I'd also set the black 6 square shelving unit up in the corner of the counter over by your small group table, to hold your teaching supplies, manuals, books, games, etc. by the small group table without taking up any floor space over there. You could also flip the white 9 square shelving unit on its side and move it over under the white board to store things you use with the whole group.

do your kinders need tables, I have seen some kinder classroom where the teacher uses the rug and floor space for the kids to work on. That might give you more space for the kinders.

How do you deal with hallway misbehavior? What consequences do you use in your classroom and for running in the hallway? Also do you have a studnet sit right next to you if they need to be in close proximity to you and where do they sit next to you? Do they sit right next to you at the kidney table ? Please answer just curious studying elementary education starting my third year of online college in September.
