It is not true that Japan traded Netaji for the Japanese POWs, who were not released until 1952 any way. Japan saved Netaji by spreading the news of his death while allowed him to go to Manchuria which was then under the USSR. There was no plane crash at all because General Shide who was sitting next to Netaji took charge of the Japanese army in Manchuria. Netaji was treated well in the beginning until 1946. Thereafter most possibly USSR had to exchange him for some important prisoner under arrest by the British Army, as there was a treaty that USSR and the UK would exchange their citizens. In the special edition of Hindustan Times created by Anuj Dhar, there was one witness who had seen Netaji being taking to the execution ground in Quetta, in Balochistan in 1946 by the British Army.
