During the cast on part of the video, it states to hook the loops over by starting at the left side, stopping part way and then moving to the right side and working inwards to end hooking over the loops in the middle of the row (to keep the edges even), however, during the rest of the entire video all loops are hooked over going from one side to the other (stopping at the end, not the middle). Why is the cast on different than the rest of the scarf? Is it necessary to hook the loops over on every row of the scarf in the manner it was done on the cast on, or can you just go from one end to the other?
@@laurieshaw3424 I looked in my emails and found the following response from the company: Hi Bonnie, The suggestion of working your hook over from one end to center, and then from other end to center should always be done when you are doing double knit as a flat panel on a long loom. Also, always vary the center point from row to row. This process will keep the 2 edges even and will not leave any type of shift across the knitting. Sorry the video did not indicate this. If you just go from one edge to the other, you will notice one side growing faster than the other. You can correct this by just changing directions. When you are working in double knit in the round (rotating loom) this is not necessary as there is no edge, but just continuous flow of the knitting. There are videos on our website with this loom that shows the stockinette stitch and the rib stitch with the transitions so that everything stays even. Pat Apparently I had sent an email to the company website. I don't loom knit any more because I have carpal tunnel in both hands. Hope this helps.
I noticed the cast on edge in the finished picture looked really nice and straight and even… When I noticed the edge during the course of the video it does not have that straight even edge… It looked more like a serrated scissor edge all up-and-down... Can you please tell me what you did to finish the edge for the cast on side of the scarf? I hope that makes sense :-) Thank you
It had been a long time since I had made something with a board loom and I had forgot too, what to do with the anchor yarn and how to give it a nice finished edge. Kristen Mangus from Goodknitkisses has an excellent video showing how to do just that! Here is the link: This will give it a nice finished edge....I hope this helps! I just now got a chance to make this scarf and liked the finished look, I used team colors for my yarn and the striping was wonderful!
The yellow yarn was used because it was a contrasting color to better show how to create the rib stitch. When they actually knitted the scarf, they didn't use the yellow yarn.

I was going to ask this also. Is there an answer somewhere that I missed?

Don't want to appear stupid but, what was the yellow yarn for and why was the removal not shown?
