I was torn between this one and the mini version. Minn Kota says my trolling motor needs a 50amp breaker or fuse. I asked Watt Cycle on one of their videos which one I need and they were very helpful explaining the differences and that led me to buy the mini w/bluetooth.

Your cold temperature test is now showing meaningful data, verses your old way of using your ultra cold deep freeze. Great improvement of a product review!! Thanks.

Thanks. I found out the BMS is set @ -5⁰C so I'll be testing that.

I think these batteries only have one cold sensor. So, my guess is that the negative temps shown were just estimates done by the app based on the actual reading. However, the sensor itself probably has to get below zero to trip it. Not saying that is a good or bad thing... just that I think it would have been nice to make sure all the temps shown were below zero. Then there would have been no doubt I think.

Good looking, Battery. i was looking at the ecoflow 12v 100a battery, but this one looks great!

I haven't read much on the EcoFlow battery. I do like this Wattcycle though.. Definitely does the job!

Thanks for your efforts! I just bought 8 of these prior to watching this video. But I watched the Will Prouse video a few times and was impressed with his teardown, tho it wasn't the trolling motor battery he tested. Can you change the temperature readout to Fahrenheit in the app?

Unfortunately no. I don't see any settings that will do that.

Is there a passcode to enter to access the settings

    • @OffGridBasement

There is, but it completely voids the warranty of the battery. You need to email wattcycle to get it.

Hi wondering if you could use one of this batteries in a electric car or a hybrid car when you don’t need a lot of amps, only for lights and accessories I think, my Prius doesn’t even have a starter any info thanks

I have a Chevy bolt EV and I was wondering the same thing. The alternator might charge up to a different voltage. I need to do some testing.

Not sure but I heard Prius have a dc to dc charger, doesn’t the battery BMS suppose to cut off the voltage when it reaches what it needs?

Hello Sir, Can you do a battery teardown of EcoFlow 12V 100Ah Battery. It goes for $220 on amazon when its on sale

After seeing this video and your short video on how to correct the low temp. setting I contacted Watt Cycle to get the code to make the change from -5.0C (23F) to 0.0C (32F). They sent me the code but said once I corrected the temp. to 0.0C my warranty would be VOID. Trying to protect my battery from their incorrect setting will VIOD MY WARRANTY. Just a heads up for anyone considering this battery/company.

Would you rather use 4 12V 100ah lithium batteries or one 12V 460AH battery. I'm in the process of doing a project and can't decide whether to buy 4 12V batteries for portability and hooking them in series or 1 12V 460AH. As always great great reviews.

    • @OffGridBasement

The big 12v battery would be easier to manage since it only has one BMS. If you get the four in series then you should think about getting a balancer as well.

Did you happen to do any manual voltage checks against what the app was telling you? The reason I ask is that myself and others have seen odd voltage readings on different batteries this company makes. Like the BMS is giving readings that don't line up with the cells. I seen one video where a guy got odd readings and opened the battery. The voltage prior to the bms (directly from the cells) showed it at like 13.4 and the voltage after the bms showed it at 13.26 or somewhere around there.
Mine isn't app capable so I can't check this for myself. However, I do get the low voltage reading like others. I didn't want to run the battery completely down but I did pull about 81% of what it is rated for and the battery was still going strong. So, I don't think it is the cells. Same for the video where the guy opened the battery. He got like 105ah on his test. That said, his cells were way out of whack... which I think can shorten the lifespan of the battery. At $170 though if it only lasts half as long as a battleborn then it is a deal I guess.

I didn't check against the app on this battery. I think it's more important to check voltage while under a bit of load. Voltage should be the same throughout. I need to do more testing. Thanks for the comment.

@@OffGridBasement I think the cells in mine were out of balance. The first time I charged it and let it sit over night it was back down to 13.26v. My battleborn will sit at 13.8 or so for days on end. So, I top balanced the battery for a few days, testing every 24 hours right before the next charge.
      Day 1: 13.26v
      Day 2: 13.42v
      Day 3: 13.48v
      Day 4: 13.80v
      Day 5: 13.93v
It has been another 12 hours since that 13.93v and the battery is still at 13.89v. So, I think the cells are probably balanced now.

so small..i need this mine it very big and heavy has a bunch of round cells on it..use to be 97ah new but now its 91ah about 3 years old now and i abuse it lol... i have a trolling motor max 50 amps but i pull 40 max on my set up but i see it peek 50 amps for like 2 seconds then it goes back to 40amp but 100% power and 80% i get the same speeds so i just keep it 80 to 70% as my full power to save battery most time ill be pulling 20 to 30 amps i can run for like 5 to 6 hours on the water and thats more than enough for my use

@@OffGridBasement yeah it's going to take a while for my current battery to go very low.. I mostly burn 30 to 50ah of battery when I troll around for about 3 to 5 hours.. maybe in 10 years I will have to replace my battery, pretty amazing how this battery last easy 10 years and even more..
Do you happen to have battery that's over 10 years old ?
