I don't know why they insist on creating new laws when they don't enforce the ones already on the books and the only people that obey these laws that they pass are those people that weren't a problem to begin with
It’s about control. They won’t prosecute connected people and members of favored groups and will prosecute others. Democrats did that with Jim Crow laws, which included gun restrictions. The more things change, the more they stay the same.
I remember a married south valley Bernalillo county commissioner (Democrat, by the way) who was stopped for speeding and running red lights in downtown ABQ in the middle of the night. He actually told the officer he was chasing his girlfriend. He was let go.
I’m not saying Republicans are better people, but the Democrats had a head start of several decades.

How are they going to know if your canceled carry at a polling place wearing a weapon. Unless they have metal detection at the entrance to said polling place.

We're (New Mexico Firearm Industry Association) are still waiting for reply from the state on the details of what they require for the waiting period, e.g. when the waiting period starts, the moment the NICS reply is received or midnight.
I asked my local FFL, BMC Tactical and calibers, if they knew if concealed carry holders truly don’t have to wait and both said they got practically no response from the government. As always our government is half baked and only cares about control

Yesterday evening a federal judge from what I saw struck down the ATF background check for private sale reference Guns and Gadgets video from May 19 late afternoon early evening are you saying that federal judges rule does not apply to New Mexico ?
That ruling was narrowly tailored to only cover the plaintiffs in that case, namely GOA members and a few others, it was not a blanket nationwide striking of the new ‘rule’ from ATF. Hopefully it will be upheld and expanded, but don’t hold your breath…

@@jbfitz196 I don’t trust Trump to reverse any of this, the Bump-Stock ban was his doing; he’s shown himself to be a leaf in the wind on a lot of issues, going wherever the current media trend pushes. He’s changed position on abortion, guns, vaccines, multiple times. He’s not the right-wing savior a lot of us make him out to be.

I’m a long-term resident of New Mexico. They have been growing concerns over the possibility of voter intimidation at polling places by people openly carrying firearms. There were a couple of cases of people showing up carrying firearms at city Council meetings. So, I think the concern is valid. I also think that was the motivation for this law.
