      1) IR's without user watermarks are the easiest thing to steal. Unless they go ilok (lets be glad they haven't), this is a reasonable precaution IMHO.
      2) If you really need a demo, compare this vid to timpani and xylo in Spitfire Symphonic/Redux Percussion. There's no better A/B possible than that... literally.

    nice ...but I miss the demonstration of what a complete orchestra sounds like. you only show individual instruments. ...and it would be interesting to see whether the CPU burns if you use a separate instance of this plugin for each orchestra section. you are primarily an orchestra library company, but you do not show any examples here or on the website that demonstrate the product with all the sections of a complete orchestra. that surprises me.

    • @utah-composer
      @utah-composer 22 дня назад

      1) MIR @ release = 2x the cost (no rooms, which cost this much alone, just the plugin)
      2) The canopy height, material, gallery damping, and mic options offer 100x more control than MIR.
      3) VSL has always got the low end wrong in recording. This sub IR option far exceeds MIR.
      I owned MIR for years. It's great for some uses, but it never came close to having this much control. 3D interfaces are useless in a world where sound is what matters. This quite literally offers vastly more sonic possibility than MIR.

    The price is ridiculous. Especially for owners (like me) of 50% of all Spitfire Libraries. It looks to be in beta state too, with not efficient CPU load. Spitfire is monetizing everything to insane extent. Originally the prices of Spitfire libraries were to compensate the original players for the libraries.

    • @zaharishtonov
      @zaharishtonov 22 дня назад +3

      Nothing wrong with the price. Obviously you have not looked into what high quality reverbs cost. The hardware used to cost tens of thousands of dollars (Lexicon 960L at around $40’000, TC6000 about $25’000 without additional options). Now you take the leading products such as the inventors of the convolution technology Audioease’s Altiverb, their light product costs $500 and the full version is a $1000. VSL’s MIR Pro 3D you pay around $700 for just the engine and you pay additionally at various prices for their impulse response packages.
      I am not going to argue about the product being still in beta stage. I am sure it’s been probably done that way, judging by what the state of most of Spitfire products has been at release day for the last few years. Many companies do that and there are always bug fixes for any software.

    • @marcuzrumble
      @marcuzrumble 12 дней назад

      @@zaharishtonovI was about to say the same, but you said it all. The price is not high at all. Everyone commenting on how the cost is “ridiculous” obviously never bought high end reverbs. I was honestly expecting it to be a lot higher, being the world's most sought-after scoring stage!

    Huge fan of Spitfire and happily invested in the Spitfire ecosystem, so I'm deeply curious about this reverb. As a person who's not an expert in reverb, I would have liked it if Paul started first with the presets and showed how the most common settings are already there for you. Kinda like how Paul always demos the basic sounds of a new sample library, and later gets into the mic positions. At first, as a reverb novice, the UI looks too complicated and overwhelming. Also, jumping back-and-forth between changes in the plug-in and the sound library was a bit hard to follow when the changes weren't being shown on screen. I have BBCSO Pro and Abbey Road One, and also some very dry libraries that are non-Spitfire (e.g., SWAM). I find myself wondering if this would be a smart and easy way to blend my dry libraries into the Spitfire / Air Studios sonic world, using the presets for each instrument type. Eager to learn more about this!

    This is absolutely an incredible piece of tech, creating the ability to have control of not just the plethora of mics AND positions, but also the physical options of the room like the canopy and orientation. However, I'm left with a huge question - is it possible to have multiple inputs? This feels like a direct competitor to MIR, where you place your whole orchestra in the space, but currently this seems like you'd have to set up a separate instance for every instrument/section, rather than feeding each signal into one reverb unit. I can see your CPU usage is hitting something like 5 to 15%, and if you need to use this separately for violins 1, 2, violas, trumpets, flutes, each percussion station etc, this seems like it'll completely consume your processing headroom. I suppose you could try and place stereo fields per section and have one reverb per stem, but then that would loose a lot of the whole point of all the individual control and placement options with the source tab. Also, is this multi-output? With the Canopy mics, this seems like you're possibly making an Atmos capable plugin?? Can we control sending the Ambients out to the rears and Canopy up above?

    Sounds great but multi channel instrument feed into the reverb is missing like Vienna MIR has. If you want to use this for a whole orchestra you need to setup 20 Aux channels with 20 Reverb instances, not sure if the CPU likes that. In MIR you need just one reverb. But actually the Spitfire seems to sound better and I already have so many libraries recorded in Air so it would be cool if a multi instrument feed will come.

    My biggest concern with this library is the CPU usage on large compositions. What does the CPU usage look like when you're running an entire orchestra+ through it? I don't know if it would be possible to do but a plugin that "feeds" into a master plugin might make more sense? Like each track plug-in contains the settings, positioning, etc and then that feeds into the master reverb plugin which does the calculations. I've seen it done with other plugins. It's not perfect, but I feel like this reverb is going to make my PC sweat.

  • @zaharishtonov

    Let VSL multi-sample the Air Studios and put it in their MIR Pro 3D engine. Then we’ll see 😄
    Note: You can’t take a close mic recording and throw it into a convolution reverb, expecting it to sound as if the source is wherever you position it! It will sound like a close mic (with all the close detail, which is impossible to hear from a distance) superimposed with an impulse response all together.
    You need true dry recordings from the tree mic position (at least). Which means this method here will only work realistically with some libraries (like Spitfire Studio Orchestra), but most will not work properly.

      I would assume so. You just put the instance on your track as an insert or on bus if you're grouping, for example, and then open up the plugin to adjust the settings.

    I have a suggestion: In your polyphonic instruments you could add an option to spread the different polyphonic simultaneous voices in the stereo field, so it gives an impression of a wider sound and players actually spread out spatially! Because it feels weird to for example press down a chord on a solo instrument like a cello and have the 3 voices exactly at the same place.

    Thanks for this professional reverb plugin. I have an important question: Is this only for productions of music or is it useful in processing actors’ voices? For example, I am a sound engineer for dubbing films. I need the reverb to be realistic and in many places. For example, in a car, in a commercial store, in a large palace, in the kitchen, in a large, empty agricultural place, or in any other natural reverb of the voice of the dubbers? Thank you ❤❤🎉

    • @ScottGarrigus
      @ScottGarrigus 18 дней назад +1

      It sounds like you need a more general convolution reverb... check out Convology XT. The AIR Studio Reverb specifically provides the sound of AIR Studios. It's not meant to simulate many different places.

    What I really don’t get: how can a impulse response of an EMPTY room mimic the Sound of a room when it is Full of orchestral players. Never ever does a flute Sound the same in this room when it is empty than when the flute is Surrounded by the Rest of the orchestra. 😊

    FFS Paul; how about putting some resource into finishing the missing Abbey Road Orchestra Pro 2nd Violins, Violas & Basses before punting out this new stuff? I’ve spent a heap of money on 1st Violins, Cellos & Percussion, never mind AROne & it’s drip drip additions! Anyhoo, I’m too angry now to even listen to this demo - not “So much fun” or “Exciting” for us ARO Pro users fed up with having to mix in other libraries’ Violas, Basses & the rest. Sadly, it now seems clear just how cynical the glacial roll out of the entire Abbey Road project has been all along. Shame 😤
