This trainwreck really highlights the comedic genus of Conan. He kept going with it up till the very end. You can tell he's used to doing improv with ppl that "deny". Ironically the guy who thought he was being quick witted & clever ended up looking like a fool.
IMO the best way to be a successful comedian (or just a funny personality) is to get those rejects. You probably learn how to make those stiff figures laugh, although clearly some people just don't budge.
I highly dissagree with him being quick in any way lol... even less if its about his wit.. he just awkwardly answered questions like a robot programmed to sell shoes and hats
Hugh Jackman should’ve co-hosted Conan’s Aussie trip. He would’ve scouted the best places to visit making things like buying a simple hat more fun and welcoming.
Im an Aussie and that was incredibly embarrassing, Austin and the manager didn't do R M Williams any favours. If you really want an Akubra, buy one from a store in a country town not a boutique store in the city. They would be thrilled to have you there and give you fantastic service without trying to be wankers (Austin). They sure could use the exposure too.

This was really funny! Austin is obviously trying to give the viewers a show and I applaud him for being bold on camera! Comedy is hard work and usually we see sketches edited from hundreds of hours of raw footage. But you will never get those gems if you don't put yourself out there. Good show!

I’m wondering if Conan’s team organised or gave a heads up to the RM Williams store to go in and film with a group of Coco staff. Some people just really paranoid about showing up on camera and you just have to respect that even if it’s a buzz kill.
There is no doubt this would have been pre-arranged. Even the store manager would not have the authorisation to decide whether filming could go ahead, so showing up on the day wouldn’t work. This is between a business and commercial TV, so usually contracts or agreements with a set of conditions are involved. That’s what makes this even worse for RM Williams :\ The staff could have given the lady prior notice that filming would be taking place at X time, but like others have said, who doesn’t just leave if they’re uncomfortable? Instead of insisting on being allowed to continue to shop for her wallet, but also refusing to be filmed in the background?

I’m wondering if Conan’s team organised or gave a heads up to the RM Williams store to go in and film with a group of Coco staff. Some people just really paranoid about showing up on camera and you just have to respect that even if it’s a buzz kill.
There is no doubt this would have been pre-arranged. Even the store manager would not have the authorisation to decide whether filming could go ahead, so showing up on the day wouldn’t work. This is between a business and commercial TV, so usually contracts or agreements with a set of conditions are involved. That’s what makes this even worse for RM Williams :\ The staff could have given the lady prior notice that filming would be taking place at X time, but like others have said, who doesn’t just leave if they’re uncomfortable? Instead of insisting on being allowed to continue to shop for her wallet, but also refusing to be filmed in the background?
